Introduction
Welcome to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla The Forgotten Saga DLC Trophy Guide! Odin returns in this free roguelite DLC expansion in an attempt to take down Hel, the queen of Niflheim. In order to play this expansion, you must have reached Asgard in the main game first and unlocked the Seer’s Hut in Ravensthorpe. As you journey through Niflheim, you will have to forgo the main campaign’s gear and instead make do with whatever this new expansion has to offer. While your weapons and abilities are generally randomized every time you start a new run, your outfit, passive skills and cosmetics will carry over from one run to the next. Favors can be purchased at Nar’s using Memories or Thoughts, currencies you obtain by completing side activities (mainly Bosses and Cursed Chests). Favors don’t carry over and must be reacquired on each new run. Additionally, if you choose to change a weapon mid-run, the one you’re currently holding will be automatically discarded, so make your choices wisely. While you can theoretically combine the steps below in one single run, it’s highly recommended to die on purpose and return to the camp every time you’ve completed each step or earned a trophy so you can cash in your currencies on Skills and Favors.
Step 1: Freedom Fighter Run and All Favors Bought Once
In your first run, you will want to first get a sense of this new DLC’s mechanics and focus on completing the three quest lines needed for Freedom Fighter. Refer to the trophy description below for all the information you need to unlock this trophy. Furthermore, every time you return to Odin’s Camp, spend your Memories on the Skill Tree (accessible through the black raven at Odin’s Camp) and Favors (game modifiers bought from Nar’s at Odin’s Camp). You must buy each different Favor once for A Favored Customer.
Step 2: Crossing Dókkerland Run
Start a new run and this time focus on completing all encounters (all objectives marked on the HUD before and including the area with the Hidden Merchant) in Dókkerland, the second area of the expansion to earn Crossing Dókkerland.
Step 3: Nidhogg Run
Once you’ve bought enough Skills and your Health is at least 100+ and you’re happy with whatever random load-out you had during your previous run it’s time to take on the third area boss, the dragon Nidhogg. You can buy Favors to keep your gear from the previous run. You’ll have to reach and defeat Nidhogg in the 3rd area without using any of the Elk Shrines along the way. For more information, refer to Pure of Heart.
Step 4: Hel Run
Once you feel strong enough and have acquired the Draugr’s Toll Outfit during the third quest line (Freedom Fighter trophy), start a new run and this time reach the fourth area to take on the main boss of this DLC expansion, Hel. See Sacrificial Victory.
Step 5: Clean up
During this final step, you may still have to buy some Favors or still unlock High Kick. Refer to the respective trophy descriptions below for anything you have left.

Sacrificial Victory Defeat Hel with the Draugr’s Toll Outfit equipped (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
For this trophy you need to defeat the final boss of this DLC expansion, Hel, while wearing a specific armor set called “Draugr’s Toll”.
First, you need to unlock the Draugr’s Toll Outfit which is automatically earned on your way to completing the third quest, Shifting Loyalties (Brodir Questline). Refer to Freedom Fighter for completing the questlines. Once you have it, equip the Armor at Odin’s Camp and start a new run. This will make the fight against Hel slightly more challenging as your healing effects are reduced by half. As a trade-off, your damage output increases the lower your health is. You can also upgrade the Draugr’s Toll armor to make it slightly easier, but it would be better to save your currency to upgrade the Dwarven Defender Outfit. You earn the armor upgrade currency after each defeated boss and can spend it in Odin’s Camp before your next run. As for the fight against Hel herself, it has two phases. In phase one, she will spawn a dog. Kill the dog first. It’s very fast and it can be an annoyance if left alive. Then, focus on Hel until her health bar is halfway down. During the second phase, she will revive the dog. Again, prioritize the dog and then attack Hel while trying to avoid her roots from the sides and ground of the arena. Quick pro tip: if you’re about to die or have lost too much health by the time you’ve reached the second phase, quit out the game to start over. This will prevent you from starting an entirely new run. |
||
Freedom Fighter Reunite the dead within Kaldstad, Døkkerland and Nidheim (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
In order to unlock this trophy you need to complete three different quests.
|
||
Pure of Heart Defeat Nidhogg without using an Elk Shrine (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
In order to unlock this trophy you need to defeat the dragon boss of the third area, Nidhogg, without using any Elk Shrine from the very start of your run. Elk Shrines are golden elks found randomly across all maps that will restore part of your health if interacted with. Here’s a list of strategies to make the run and fight slightly less challenging:
|
||
Crossing Dókkerland Complete all encounters in Dókkerland (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
In order to complete all encounters in Dókkerland (second area), you first need to complete Dark Dealings (Dani the Dead One Questline). Refer to Freedom Fighter to find out how. Once you have completed Dani’s quest, you’ll obtain the Permanent Favor Open Lines which basically gives you access to the location of the second Hidden Merchant of this area which is located past the broken rope line before the final island of this area. With this area unlocked, you’ll now be able to complete all encounters and unlock this trophy. You don’t need to complete all encounters in one run. An “encounter” is an objective (white icon on HUD), the lokkboxes surrounded by enemies. You don’t need to complete the HUD objectives found after the island with the Hidden Merchant.
High Kick Knock 10 enemies off of ledges using the Kick of Tyr Ability (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
First, you need to be lucky enough to find the Kick of Tyr Ability on any of your runs (random). Then, with the ability equipped in your melee wheel, you need to lure any enemy near a ledge and kick them off of it. Repeat 10 times. You don’t have to kill them, just kicking them off ledges suffices. Because of the sheer randomness of the abilities in this DLC, it is suggested to buy the Vivid Memory Favor from Nar’s at Odin’s Camp if you’ve found the Kick of Tyr in your run. This will ensure that the ability will be in your Starting Gear when you start the next run. Alternatively, you can just restart your run if you either don’t have the Ability in your starting gear or the first lokkbox is not an Ability.
Royal Treatment Find Hel’s Majordomo (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
After defeating Nidhogg, you’ll be able to enter the fourth and final area of the expansion, Nidheim. Keep going until you meet a new NPC next to a crevice in the wall. Talk to him to initiate the quest for this area. To complete the quest you just need to complete the different encounters you find on your path that unlock the teleport pads that allow you to continue forward. Eventually you will meet Hel’s Majordomo again and that’s when you will unlock this trophy.
A Favored Customer Buy all of Nar’s Favors at least once (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
Favors are strategic advantages for any new run you begin, such as recovering a previously used item, modifying Weapons or Abilities, or improving certain conditions during your journey. Favors can be bought at Nar’s each time you respawn at Odin’s Camp. There are 8 Favors and you need to buy each one at least once. Here is a list of each Favor, what they do, and how much currency you need to buy it. You might want to take a note of what you’ve already bought to avoid buying it twice and wasting your currencies.
|
||
The Queen’s Fall Defeat Hel, ruler of Niflheim (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
See trophy Sacrificial Victory.
Returning to the Roots Return to Odin’s Camp for the first time (The Forgotten Saga) |
||
This trophy unlocks immediately after dying the first time and returning to Odin’s Camp for a new run. You will automatically unlock this trophy as you work through Freedom Fighter. |

is it confirmed I can get every trophy on one and transfer save to unlock all of them on the other?
FranciRoosters says
Unfortunately, this hasn’t been tested yet.
SBlue says
Most not all. I tried with my PS4 to PS5 trophies unfortunately.
Mitch says
If you grind and max your stats etc does it change the difficulty rateing ?
FranciRoosters says
No, not really because the difficulty heavily relies on how many Health Upgrades you find on your run. The lower you find, the harder it is.
seph says
So the Crossing Dokkerland description is a bit confusing.
You don’t need to complete all encounters in one run. An “encounter” is an objective (white icon on HUD), the lockboxes surrounded by enemies. In other words do all objectives in Dókkerland marked on the HUD in a single run.
It mentions that you do and do not have to do all encounters in one go, so which is it?
FranciRoosters says
Hey, thanks for spotting the mixup. I’ve fixed the guide. You don’t need to do them all in one go.
Mike says
When you say quit out do you mean shutting the game down or abandoning the run from menu?
FranciRoosters says
Abandoning the run.
Robert says
This had got to be the last DLC right? I uninstalled after 100% Dawn of Ragnarok thinking it was the last, I’ll reinstall to do this but man.
FranciRoosters says
Hard to say, but there maybe another Tombs of the Fallen DLC.
Noodle says
There is currently a bug where Hel will not go to phase 2 during the boss fight and becomes invincible, is there any work around for this or do I just wait for a patch? 🙂
FranciRoosters says
Quit the game and try again.
Arkonite says
A little tip for fighting Nidhogg:
– When he summons the blue minions after his life bar is completely depleted, you must kill them before they reach his body. The more you kill, the less life he will regain. If you manage to kill them all (with the ability “Nornir’s focus”), he will have no more “paw life bar” and only half a life bar, directly on the ground with his neck glowing. Also, no additional minions appear during this third phase.
Saint 1ajc says
If you abandon the run won’t you start over
Diego says
does the Quest shows up as completed at some point? I finished it but when I come back to Ravensthorpe, still looks as incomplete.
Nick says
“Quick pro tip: if you’re about to die, quit out the game to start over. This will prevent you from starting an entirely new run.” Could you elaborate? If I abandon the run I still have to start from the beginning.
Jane says
The Wholesome Warrior (Skjaldmaer Questline): It doesn’t matter which way you go.Left or right, you can still get into the cave.
