Alpha Animals are a type of Collectible in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (ACV). This guide shows where to find all Alpha Animal Locations in AC Valhalla (also called Legendary Animals on world map). They are needed for the Completionist All the Way trophy or achievement (100% Completion). There are 12 of them in total but only the first 10 are needed for the Master Hunter trophy and achievement.
Alpha Animals count as Mysteries. On the world map they are marked by this icon: . You can still access all regions after the story to find them. Killing all Alpha Animals unlocks the Master Hunter trophy or achievement.
These Legendary Animals are powerful bosses. They are more challenging than your average enemy. You simply go to the location and defeat the animal. Being sufficiently leveled comes in handy. If you have trouble, try lowering the difficulty to easy.
For a region by region guide of all Mysteries refer to this guide: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Mysteries Guide
Rygjafylke
Alpha Animal #1: Elk of Bloody Peaks
You will fight this Legendary Beast in single combat. You can use the tried-and-tested dodge and attack method, but the best way to deal damage is to use your bow and target the weak spot on its side, just above the legs. It’ll collapse to the ground, allowing you to do a stun attack with and deal significant damage.
Hordafylke
Alpha Animal #2: Bear of the Blue Waters
This mystery requires you to defeat a level 310 bear (Alpha Animal). It’s too far north to reach during the Prologue so you must come back for it after the story when this region has opened up.

Alpha Animal #4: The Corpse Feeders
Once you arrive at the Legendary Animal icon a short cutscene will play and you’ll be attacked by 3 wolves. Kill all 3 to finish this mystery. Take out one at a time. The fewer are left, the easier it gets. If you have trouble, return later at a higher level or reduce difficulty to easy in gameplay options.
Sciropescire
Alpha Animal #5: Beast of the Hills
The Beast of the Hills is in an underground area. You can find the cave entrance at Uriconium Ruins, just 120 meters east of the Beast of the Hills icon on the map. Defeat the giant bear and claim its head!

Vinland
Alpha Animal #10: O Yan Do’ Ne
This is a Legendary Moose. Don’t worry if you haven’t bought a weapon in Viland yet, you can defeat it with your bare fists. If you defeated all other Legendary Animals the Master Hunter trophy should unlock after this one.
Asgard

Jotunheim
Alpha Animal #11: Steinnbjorn
This is a level 400 Legendary Animal, the most powerful enemy in the game! To even stand a chance, it’s recommended to be at least level 370 and have a really powerful weapon in your gear, such as Excalibur. Always stay close to him. This one isn’t needed for the Master Hunter trophy / achievement.

Alpha Animal #12: Black Stout
The Black Stout is a huge boar that loves to charge at you and ram you. Therefore, in this fight you’ll be dodging rather than parrying. Dodge its attacks and it’ll need to recover for a few seconds, giving you time to attack it. Hit the weak points on its legs to whittle down its stamina bar to do massive damage with a stun attack ( ). It is Power Level 453 but shouldn’t cause you any trouble if you’ve finished the main game and have a high Level yourself.

Bouy says
Steinnbjorn is beatable on level 300 ( easy difficulty of course ? )
Larry Guerrero Duarte says
I kill him in level 320 berseker diffivulty. Just stay behind and dont use armor becouse you will need speed. Use ligth attack most of the time.
endegrim says
You don’t have to beat Steinnbjorn for the trophy, I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but it popped for me after killing O Yan Do’ Ne.
And it was a while before I remembered to go back and get Steinnbjorn (which was the last thing I needed for 100%).
Ethan says
The Ohkwa:ri Club did wayyy more damage on O Yan Do’ Ne than my bare fists for me
QueenK says
Steinnbjorn is actually quite easy. It’s a high powerlevel and if you do get it hit, it can be devastating. But the thing is the bear is really slow, and if you stay behind it and keep doing light attacks on its back legs, it really can’t do much. This way you also charge abilities and I would recommend just spamming Blizzard Axe.:)
It’s also an advantage to memorise its moves, for example when it gets on its back legs quickly get away from it as it creates a circle of icicles which does a lot of damage.
Hope it helped. ^^
Nash says
You can make the Steinbjornn fight even easier on yourself by saving your Dive of the Valkyries for when he sprouts icicles on his side. This will stun him for a short while allowing you to safely land at least 2 heavy attacks right after that (if you’ve equipped fast weapons).
Not sure if I got lucky or if it’s always the case, but when I fought him he kept trying to sprout more icicles as soon as he got un-stunned, so all I had to do was rince and repeat to get him to about a quarter life, only then did his pattern change…
VampireHorde says
I had defeated Steinnbjorn and the other 9 Alpha animals prior to doing the Vinland story arc but my trophy did not pop up until AFTER I defeated that stupid moose.
If I fought the moose before Steinnbjorn then would the trophy have popped up? Cuz right now I’m thinking you DO need to defeat all 11 animals to get the trophy. Am I wrong? Is it a post-patch thing maybe?
PowerPyx says
Steinnbjorn can be skipped. If you defeat the moose before Steinnbjorn the trophy will pop at that point already.
L.J. says
Hey, I love your guides, pal but the trophy didn’t pop for me after I killed all 11 animals. What do you recommend? Perhaps go kill them all again?
PowerPyx says
If you still have a save game before the last animal, try reinstalling the game and redo just the last animal. Reinstalling often fixes trophy bugs.
If that doesn’t work, your best bet would be to load a save further back and kill all of them again (try to do it in one session / one sitting, just to make sure there are no tracking issues).
