Assassin’s Creed Shadows Yamabushi Imposters Walkthrough

Yamabushi Imposters is a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Yamabushi Imposters mission.

• Quest Giver: Genpaku
• Requirement: Becomes available during Act 2
• Recommended Level: 41
• Reward: 1000 EXP + 2 Skills: Naoe Skill “Contemplation”, Yasuke skill “Absolute Protection”
• Quest Description: These strange men disguise themselves as itinerant mountain monks in order to commit brutal acts of violence.

Talk to Genpaku

This quest can be found by finding the <!> icon in Yamato > Yoshino during Act 2. It can be tracked from the objectives board.

Find Genpaku by a house. He wants you to take out all 9 of the Yamabushi Imposters.

Assassinate The River Yamabushi (1/9)

Go to the Mitarai Valley, in Yamato > Yoshino.

Look over the bridge to see the body. Go to it.

Head east upstream until you come across the River Yamabushi. Take him out.

Assassinate The Forest Yamabushi (2/9)

Find the Forest Yamabushi at the Nyu-Daimyojin Shrine in Kii >Saika.

The wounded man is the Forest Yamabushi. Attack him manually to start the fight.

Assassinate The Pathway Yamabushi (3/9)

Find the Pathway Yamabushi in Shingu in Kii > Kumano Sanzan on the east coast.

Several enemies come to his aid when you go after him.

Assassinate The Clifftop Yamabushi (4/9)

The Clifftop Yamabushi is straight north of the Pathway Yamabushi, in Kii > Iseji Trails on the east coast.

The only way to reach him is to take the Path of the Chosen.

Go around the outside of the zone by the tilted tree to sneak behind and assassinate this Yamabushi.

Assassinate The Pond Yamabushi (5/9)

Find the Pond Yamabushi at the Kuji-kiri located at the Three-Trunked Tree in Omi > Mt. Hiei.

 

Perform the Kuji-kiri to make this Yamabushi appear.

His body contains the Letter Found on a Yambushi Imposter quest item.

Assassinate The Mountain Yamabushi (6/9)

Find the Mountain Yamabushi in the Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave in Omi > Suzuki Foothills.

This one sits dead in the cave, holding the “Letter on the Corpse of a Strange Yamabushi.”

Assassinate The Valley Yamabushi (7/9)

Find the Valley Yamabushi south of the Hinotani Shrine in Iga > Nabari Wilds.

He uses a kanaba, so watch out for constant heavy attacks.

Assassinate The Shadow Yamabushi (8/9)

The Shadow Yamabushi hangs out by the fast travel viewpoint at Iga > Kasuga Shrine.

Climb down from the viewpoint and air assassinate him.

Assassinate The Village Yamabushi (9/9)

Find the final Yamabushi at the Shinobi Training Grounds in Iga.

 

You cannot attack this Yamabushi.

Instead, interact with three objects: a set of armor (in front of Yamabushi on ground), a cooking pot (in front of the building), and some letters (left of the small shrine). Then a cutscene starts.

Return to Genpaku

Head back to the Path of Serenity in Yamato > Yoshino and speak with Genpaku.

This finishes Yamabushi Imposters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
