Towards the Sea
Having left behind their mother Beatrice and Lucas, who didn’t want to abandon his teacher, Amicia and Hugo are now all alone, both in search of the island of Hugo’s dreams. Amicia’s wound is bleeding again and needs tending to. Hugo, after showing Amicia a sandy mock-up of the island, volunteers to take care of her.
Find a Way Towards the Coast
Jog along the trail until you reach a wide, open lavender field. Here, Amicia stops Hugo, reassuring him that Beatrice and Lucas will be fine. Hugo now challenges us to a quick race to the tree up ahead. You won’t win the race, but you’ll be able to collect the feathers Hugo retrieves from the ground.
Interact with Hugo to collect Hugo’s Herbarium #5/12 / Feather #1/7 Jay.
As Amicia and Hugo reconnect, continue through the field until you see a large camp with red tents.
A Pilgrim Road
Ask for a Way to the Coast
Go downhill to be greeted by a laundress who warmly welcomes us into the pilgrim settlement and invites us to look for Perreux, the leader of the encampment.
Continue through the camp and you’ll notice a man leaning on a trunk. When you see him, take a left for a side path leading to a swing. Hugo will volunteer to push Amicia. Just enjoy this sweet moment between the two until you unlock Souvenir #9/21 Imagine You’re Flying.
Go back to the camp and continue through it as far as the church ruins to witness a mass held by Perreux.
When the mass is over, approach Perreux to talk to him. Perreux may know something about the island and asks us if we want to have a look at a map of the Mediterranean Sea.
However, a guard patrol storms into the camp, asking if the pilgrims have seen Amicia and Hugo. Perreux shows us mercy and helps us escape.
Escape from the Soldiers
Follow Perreux and his instructions closely, hiding under the cart when told to.
Resurface from under the cart when Perreux tells you that the coast is clear and cross over the pen to continue forward. Thank you, Perreux, for aiding in our quest! Leave the pen and continue forward through the woods.
However, the guards spot us and, in their attempt to capture us, we fall into a gorge. Amicia is badly hurt.
Connection
Find a Way Out
Continue through the gorge to enter a quarry. Immediately to your right is a wooden structure with a workbench underneath it should you want to upgrade Amicia. Then, take the right opening into the quarry itself, then turn right and crouch under the wooden barricade. You should now be in front of an iron door.
Instruct Hugo to crawl under the broken fence and he’ll open the door for you.
This will lead you back outside, to the top of the wooden structure we saw a moment ago. Here you can find a tool chest and upgrade materials as well as some pyrite. Now backtrack and continue along, making sure to open the chest by the mining cart at the end of the left opening. Now continue on and crouch under the wooden structures. You’ll now unlock Hugo’s Echo ability, which creates a connection between him and the rats. To use it, hold . This enables both Hugo and Amicia to check whether there are enemies nearby and see them through structures. Hugo’s new skill is particularly useful to better plan your stealth approaches.
Keep the left side of the room, using the Echo ability when needed, and hide under the beams.
There’s a chest here to open if you’d like. After opening the chest, climb over the fence and wait for the guard to look away or move, then climb up the stairs and open the door to continue.
Now go straight ahead and take a right at the second pillar to find a cart with a knife sticking out.
After picking up the knife, use Hugo’s Echo ability to see where the guards are and study their movement patterns to plan your strategy. To both sides of the cave are also two chests containing upgrade materials if you’d like. When you’re done, proceed to the trapdoor at the end of the cave to continue further.
The Ochres
Reach the Building
We’re now back outside, with a church in the distance we need to reach. From the starting location of this area, you should see a white-painted ledge with a chest on top right in front of you. Go downhill and when there are no enemies around, climb it to grab another knife.
Go back down and using the starting location as a reference point, head right where you should find another chest. From here, kill the archer above.
Now go under the fallen log bridge and climb up the white-painted ledge immediately on your right, cross the bridge and then open up the chest by the tent for upgrade materials.
Now go back the way you came from, go under the stone archway to get to the other side of the area and proceed to the next chest.
Continue downhill, making sure the guard doesn’t spot you and open up a bigger chest.
Now continue up to the church using the side door to enter it.
Call of the Rats
Find a Way Out of the Building
We’re now inside the church, but Amicia’s wound hurts even more. Before doing anything else, crouch under the opening under the shelves with a hanging piece of tarp to reach Secret Chest #4/10.
Continue along the corridor and open the door at the end. Amicia is too weak to continue and passes out on the floor.
Meanwhile, the rats start wreaking havoc, but Hugo manages to unlock a new and incredible superpower allowing him to control rat hordes!
Deal with the Soldiers
Hugo can now possess rat hordes, so use them to your own advantage. Direct the rats forward and up the net past the basin and eliminate the three guards.
Amicia will then wake up, but is still too weak to continue. Hugo decides to handle the guards himself once again. To possess and control a rat horde, hold and then / on the horde to possess and control it.
When you’ve eliminated both guards, you can stop possessing the rats.
Find a Way Out of the Building
Now we need to find a way out of the building, but the area is still infested with rats. Cast Ignifer at the brazier below and then tar to expand the brightness of the fire. This will allow you to drop down. Now rest near the brazier.
From here, light up the torch in front of you with Ignifer and tar and then grab it.
Before you get upstairs, there are some upgrade materials in a corner opposite the stairs by another torch if you’d like.
Then, proceed upstairs. Continue on until you can place the torch into its holder and open the door.
Inside this room are a workbench and a ladder. Climb up the ladder and crouch through the opening to access a fabric workshop.
Hugo now wants to fix Amicia’s bandage with a cleaner one. Interacting with him unlocks Souvenir #10/21 Which Colour Do You Want?.
Now exit the room and continue through the other door.
Hunting Lesson
Exit the Dye Works
We’re now back outside, in front of a large area with dye basins. There’s a knife on the right side of the area, so to safely collect it, have Hugo unleash the rat horde found in one of the basins on every killable enemy in the area. Unfortunately, enemies carrying torches cannot be eliminated by Hugo’s hordes. If you see enemies carrying torches, you can always use Exstinguis as Amicia and then use Hugo’s ability on the rats again provided there’s a swarm nearby. From where you’ve unleashed the rats, climb down the stairs and you should see a wooden cart. When you see the cart, go around it to find the knife.
Continue on the right side and go up a ramp and you’ll find a hut. Enter the hut to find a chest behind a locked door. Exit the hut and go to the back to shoot a rock at the lock from the window.
Now go back inside and open the tool chest for some upgrade materials. Continue up the hill and go through the iron door to access a new area.
Deal with the Beast
As if the racket in the dye works wasn’t enough, we’re now greeted by the Beast, a huge armored soldier. To eliminate the Beast, cast a stone at the saltpeter sack. This will momentarily blind the Beast.
Now, quickly get behind him and hit the weak spot on his back, as suggested by Hugo.
After hitting him once, backup spearmen will invade the arena. You can quickly get rid of them with a headshot, but be wary because the Beast will get back up in the meantime.
For the next phase, have the Beast get very close the tar pot and then destroy it using Ignifer. If successful, the explosion of the tar pot will burn the Beast alive, thereby completing the encounter.
Alternatively, you can shoot one or two bolts on his back after hitting the weak spot to kill him. Amicia is still badly wounded and more guards are on the hunt. Hugo must now possess and control the rats again to save both his and Amicia’s skin.
The Assault
Deal with the Soldiers
In the new area, Hugo will automatically possess and control the rats after the cutscene. Kill the marked soldiers, one by one, and continue doing so until the coast is clear. When you’ve killed enough soldiers, an overwhelmed Hugo will stop controlling the rats, as encouraged by Amicia.
However, Hugo’s extended possession of the rats caused him to have another seizure and unleash a giant wave of rats.
Escape from the Rats
Both Amicia and Hugo are weak but must still find a way to escape from the rats and make it out alive. Spring up the stairs until you can interact with a cliff.
Amicia lifts Hugo up, but she’s not strong enough to go after him and decides to stay behind. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure shows up behind Hugo. Who could it be? Will they save them both?
This concludes Chapter 6 “Leaving All Behind” in A Plague Tale: Requiem. Now Chapter 7 “Felons” starts.

Shadowsteel says
You can also directly kill the beast with the tar and end the fight instead of bothering with the saltpeter and spearmen
