Marseilles
Amicia is miraculously alive after the Count’s assault at sea. Arnaud tended to her wound, but loses valiantly on the field at the hands of the Count himself. His sacrifice though gave Amicia the chance to finally kill him for good. Meanwhile, Hugo has unleashed a massive cloud of Nebula that would allow the rats to spread uncontrolled everywhere. Amicia, Lucas, and Sophia eventually reach the city gates.
Find Hugo
Marseilles is destroyed, where devastation and rats reign supreme. Even amidst all of this chaos, the trio still share a sweet bonding moment, each grateful for having each other by their side.
Shortly after the beginning of the chapter you should see a workbench on your right. In the same room is a tool chest.
Now follow Lucas up the stairs and he’ll stop at a flower. Approach the flower to collect Hugo’s Herbariums #12/12 Carnation, completing the collection and unlocking Herbalist.
Now open the door for a new cutscene. Hugo is there, amongst the rats and we need to find a way to get to him.
The trio let themselves get carried by a huge rat wave and fall to the ground below, but Sophia needs to stay behind, unable to continue.
The Descent
Find Hugo
Exit the building and Lucas will join us. Approach the ledge and drop down any time a rat wave disappears and make it behind the wall in front of you.
Now drop down to the left and head for the next wall and to the next one again by the gate.
At the gate, wait for the second wave to destroy it and then proceed to the wall in front of you.
As soon as the wall collapses, don’t stop and continue running to the next one.
This other wall will immediately collapse too, so continue on to the next wall and then to the roofs.
Lastly, continue down to the coffin. Squeeze through and keep running down to the bridge.
Amicia and Lucas are now at the last threshold, where Hugo, Nebula and the Macula are now one and all natural laws stop to exist. Amicia and Lucas must continue on, sliding down the bridge.
Nebula
Find Hugo
Below the bridge, Lucas is nowhere to be found. Continue on, past the broken roof and keep going until you see a bird statue.
The game tries to fool you here by going in the direction the bird statues are facing – but this would keep you going in circles. Instead, you have to run in a straight line until you reach the edge of the area and a short cutscene starts. It doesn’t matter in what direction you run, just run in a straight line, in any direction until you hit the edge of the area.
After reaching the edge you will be surrounded by giant skull heads, with big rat monsters coming your way. This encounter is more of a puzzle than a fight. Don’t fight anyone, either the rats or the rat figures. Instead, use Extinguis on the brazier to “give up”, which lets you advance. If you tried to fight the rats or get killed you’d be teleported back to the previous area and get stuck in a loop until you use Extinguis on the brazier.
After extinguishing the brazier, you’re reunited with Hugo, so keep walking straight ahead and open the door at the very end.
During the walk ahead, Hugo asks Amicia to carry out the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of saving those who can still survive the threats of the Macula. Continue on, towards the red light, for a new cutscene. Lucas is back!
Reach Hugo
Navigate through the rats and reach Hugo at the heart.
When you reach the hole in the ground, stop. Breathe. Now, slowly take out your sling and, amidst the river of rats and tears, cast the rock you never would have wanted to cast. May the Requiem start.
This concludes Chapter 16 “King Hugo” in A Plague Tale: Requiem. Now Chapter 17 “Legacy of De Rune Family” starts.
