Grief
Amicia, Hugo, and Lucas are hurt and grief-stricken, shocked to see the death of their beloved mother and Magistra at the hands of Emilie who mercilessly gutted her, still believing the Child of Embers cult that the Count brainwashed her with. Hugo retaliated by unleashing thousands of rats all over the palace which devoured the Countess in the most deserving way. The Counts swore vengeance. A visibly traumatized Hugo and a hopeless Amicia don’t want to keep fighting, but Lucas volunteers to lead the way.
Find a Way to the Surface
Follow Lucas through the rubble and Lucas will fix Amicia’s broken shoulder.
Continue through the tunnel and into the cellar. Immediately turn right for some pieces you can pick up from a shelf.
Now keep flanking the right side and you’ll be able to enter a side room with a tool chest with more materials.
Now continue through the tunnels until you reach a room with a big opening leading outside and several metal bars. As soon as you enter the area, check the metal bars on the right and shoot a rock through the hole to open the door on the other side.
Now enter the area and pull the cart towards you.
Now go back through the door and to the right.
Climb over the fence to find a bookcase on wheels.
Push it aside and enter the opening in the wall. Now interact with the table to find Souvenir #21/21 A Mess. This is the last Souvenir in the game and if you’ve picked all other ones up, you should now unlock Immortal Memories.
Continue on the other way now to find an anchor point. Use your crossbow through the metal bars on the piece of furniture on the upper floor of the other side. Now pull to drop it down.
Approach the piece of furniture for a new cutscene.
Inside the Nest
Cross the Rat Nest
The Macula has filled the void in Hugo’s mind left by the death of Beatrice and the Hugo we knew seems gone.
Go downhill and grab the torch from the wall and proceed further, but be careful not to walk into the Macula fumes bursting from the sacks as that will put out the fire.
You’ll eventually reach a gigantic rat sack, with Hugo feeling like he’s found a new home.
No time to talk, we need to run as the sack is about to burst. Keep running through the nest and back outside until a new cutscene is triggered.
Fortunately though, Hugo hasn’t yet succumbed to the darkness of his mind.
Fresh Air
Reach the Surface
Continue uphill.
Reach the Port
Continue downhill to find more seas of rats and sacks which seem to have found a way to reach the surface. Hugo, however, takes control of his power and orders the rats to leave the area.
Proceed downhill and head for the lantern. Hide in the grass because there will be three guards hunting you now. Keep going down the central path to find a tool chest with upgrade materials, eliminating guards as you see fit.
Now flank the left side of the area which can be accessed from the fallen column, continue by the cliff, and keep going until you see a chest near a tipped cart. There’s also a knife here stuck in a wooden beam.
From here, head for the right side of the area, past the area patrolled by big armored soldier and head for the ruins up the ledge. Open the chest here and shoot the chain holding the cart to the wall. Now climb it up and open the door.
Ruined Village
Reach the Port
Arnaud is somehow still alive and Hugo wants to save him, despite what he did.
Climb down the ledge and take the path on the left, through the barn.
Kill the soldier here and then use an ignited pot on the rats to make it to the brazier.
Continue straight ahead, into and out of the house to find some flower crowns on a wooden stand with another knife.
Now turn around and head upstairs for a chest.
Now head to other side of the area, as if you had chosen the other path after the cutscene. Here you’ll find two more chests in a house, one downstairs and one upstairs.
Continue down the street and grab the pieces near the collapsed roof.
You’ll eventually reach a church with a tool chest and upgrade materials. There are another two chests left and right of the church.
When you’re done exploring, crawl under the beams found inside the base of the collapsed belfry.
Now walk along the belfry and drop down. Immediately after dropping down, enter the house on the right through the window for a chest. Next, climb up the ledge, grab the pieces from the corpse on your right, then drop down.
Immediately to your left, before the house wall, is a knife stuck into a wooden beam. Opposite the knife, by a tree, is another corpse with pieces.
Now continue on until you find a cart. Push the cart by the white-painted ledge left of the door you have just gone through and climb up to find Hugo’s Herbarium #11/12 / Feather #7/7 Greylag Goose. This is the last feather in the game and if you’ve collected all other ones so far, you will now unlock Ornithologist. From the Feather’s location, open the door to your right to find Secret Chest 10. This is the last Secret Chest in the game and if you’ve opened them all so far, you will now unlock Explorer.
Now climb back down and push the cart to the other white-painted ledge to continue on with the story. Climb up and around the corner by another dead body are more pieces.
Continue down the stairs and you should see Sophia’s boat out in the distance.
Rescue
Free Arnaud
Approach the fences and hide behind one. You should see some tar pots near the soldiers. Hit one to set them all on fire. Now shoot down and remaining soldiers and prepare to fight the big, armored and shielded soldier. Blind him using either a saltpeter sack or a copper tank. Then, shoot his weak point on the breastplate and then a bolt at his chest to kill him for good. Rinse and repeat for the next two guys and finally clear out the area of the mobs.
Now you’re free to release Arnaud.
However, new soldiers are coming your way, but Hugo will take care of them in his own way. When he’s done, approach him.
Hugo gives Arnaud back his shield and we’re now ready to leave.
On Sophia’s boat, the siblings properly mourn the death of their mother, ready to move on and determined to heal their wounds.
This concludes Chapter 13 “Nothing Left” in A Plague Tale: Requiem. Now Chapter 14 “Healing Our Wounds” starts.
