Leaving La Cuna
In the underground temple of the island, the trio found out that Aelia failed to save Basilius, who gave in to the Macula. Feeling abandoned and alone, the boy died, unleashing the Plague on the world. Yet this shows Amicia the truth: Hugo will live as long as Amicia is by his side and live a life in the name of the love they feel for one another. La Cuna is now a distant memory of the island we found days ago and there’s no reason for us to stay here anymore. Time to leave La Cuna forever.
Reach the Harbour
Jog along the cliff and drop down the ledge.
Next, grab the torch from the body near the tent, ignite it and wade through the rats until a new cutscene starts.
A soldier informs Amicia and Hugo that Lucas and Beatrice are waiting for them at the palace. Meanwhile, Sophia heads to the harbor to get the boat ready.
Follow the Soldier
Follow the soldier all the way up and into the palace. The soldier and inhabitants of La Cuna are doing their best to contain the rats, which seem to stop at nothing.
The palace is littered with infested and dying people, victims of the rat carnage.
Interact with the door when promoted to reunite with Lucas and Beatrice. During the cutscene, Amicia fills in Lucas and Beatrice on their recent discoveries. Amicia is sure that if they all settle down somewhere safe as a proper family, then perhaps the plague and the rats will subside.
Meanwhile, the Count wants to see Amicia.
Refugees in the Palace
Follow the Count
Follow the armored soldier to the Count and then keep following him until a new cutscene starts where the Count attacks Amicia.
Run Away from the Count
When you take control of Amicia again, move back to escape from the Count. It turns out that the entire Child of Embers cult is a lie that the Count fed to Emilie to keep her from going insane after her parents poisoned her mind.
Deadly Trap
Run Away from the Count
After striking the Count with the candelabra, head outside, then into the cellar and through the door.
For the next section, you need to keep out of the Count’s line of sight. As soon as the Count barges into the room, climb over the barrels on the left and then hide under the table.
The Count will now approach your location. When he goes around the table you’re hiding under, go back out and to the right and stay crouched. Hide under a second table and immediately go back out and proceed to the open door.
You’ll be spotted and the Count will chase you again, so head left and then right.
In the next room, go across it and to the opposite corner you came in from and squeeze through the wall crack.
Continue left and left again as soon as the Count kicks the door open.
Now we’re back in the cellar we’ve just come out from, but this time continue to the open door opposite you.
Continue through the kitchen, through the pot shelf cracks and into another room. Keep going downstairs and push the door open to enter a new cellar. In this new cellar are two cranks, one on each side. Interact with either one and the Count will find you again. As soon as he enters the room, hide anywhere.
Find a Way out of the Cellar
Interact with either crank just a bit and the Count will start chasing you again. For the entire section, you have to interact with either crank just a bit and then use the side rooms to hide and lose the Count.
Rinse and repeat until one of the two iron prison doors is down, then access the door to the other side.
Escaped from the Cellar
Run Away from the Count
Continue up and down the stairs, through the candlelit corridor.
We’re now back outside to find Lucas and Beatrice on a pyre, ready to be burnt alive.
Amicia storms in, trying to stop the Countess, but the Count is back and Amicia tries to fight him, despite her broken shoulder. Amicia is struck down by the Count, almost lifeless.
Sadly though, the Countess succeeds in killing Beatrice, resolute in summoning the Child of Embers.
Reaching the Limit
Find Amicia
We’re now gaining control of Hugo, aware that something’s not right. Walk along the cypresses and enter the next room until you’re outside in the amphitheater.
Shocked at what he’s seeing, a furious Hugo unleashes hundreds of rats from the ground, using them both as a shield to protect his sister and Lucas and as a killing machine ready to kill everybody who deserves to die.
Push Hugo to the Limit
Amicia encourages Hugo to unleash more rats and Hugo mercilessly obliges.
Aim at incoming targets and press / to send them rats. Progressively unleashing more and more rats will push Hugo to the limit.
Kill the Countess on the Central Stage
Now that Hugo is over the edge, send rats to the Countess for a more than deserving death.
The Count promises vengeance. Meanwhile, the ground collapses, plunging our miraculously alive heroes into an underground area.
