A Plague Tale: Innocence – Chapter 15 Remembrance Walkthrough

Remembrance is Chapter 15 in A Plague Tale: Innocence. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Chapter 15 “Remembrance”.

Reach the Castle Ramparts

A month later, Amicia somehow hasn’t given up on Hugo yet. The sun is setting and the braziers need to be lit in view of the rats.

Before doing so, we need to grab a collectible (Herbarium 12 – Rockfoils). Walk through the only open door and take a sharp right. The collectible is sitting at the end of this section.

When you’re done, go to the main entrance to the Great Hall to find Melie and Arthur having an argument. Amicia will interrupt, asking for Arthur’s help to ignite the braziers, while Melie will go help Lucas unlock a chest.

Join Arthur

When you’re done exploring, simply join Arthur at the ramparts. Together you will get the braziers in place and light them up.

Move the First Brazier

For this objective, simply move the brazier next to Arthur in position. Don’t waste your ammunition, Arthur will take care of lighting the brazier.

Place the Central Brazier Next to the Pit

Next, climb down the ladder and up the ladder next to Arthur to join Rodric.

 

Now, use the handle to move the central brazier next to the pit.

Reach the Ramparts and Place the Last Brazier Next to the Pit

Next, climb down the ladder next to Arthur and then up the ladder to go back to the ramparts and set the last brazier in position.

 

Arthur will cast Ignifer at it. Lighting the braziers served no purpose though, as the pit gets immediately filled up with huge numbers of rats. The rats go overboard and douse all lit braziers and slowly fill the whole yard.

Join Arthur

Move the brazier next to you to the position it was before.

Meantime, the rats are regrouping and forming eddies, putting out each brazier. Once you’ve let go of the brazier, cast Ignifer at it and climb down the ladder.

Then quickly cast Ignifer again at the next brazier in front of you as an eddy of rats demolishes the ladder you’ve just come down from.

After the brazier is lit, quickly run to the next source of light.

Now, we need to get to the ladder in the right area. To help us out, Arthur will try to clear a path for us. Now, craft lots of Ignifer. You’re going to need it.

Follow the Path Cleared by Arthur

As soon as this new objective stars, move your camera around and dispose of any incoming eddies.

Then, cast Ignifer at the brazier close to some wooden scaffolding and get close to it so that Arthur can move it for you.

Get going as the brazier moves, making sure to eliminate incoming eddies and stay in the light.

When the situation calms down a bit, ignite the brazier next to the one you’ve just walked by, so that Arthur can help you get to the only accessible ladder left.

As for the incoming eddies, rinse and repeat. At last, climb the ladder.

Clear a Path for Arthur

Now we need to get Arthur to safety as well. Use the brazier on your side and be ready to protect him by moving the brazier accordingly.

Protect Arthur Until He Reaches the Ramparts

Now, you need to intermittently move the brazier to get Arthur to the ladder and use your Ignifer projectiles to get rid of those rats going for Arthur.

Join the Others Inside

Once Arthur’s up on the ramparts, run inside to join the others to make sure they’re okay.

While the group discusses what to do to survive, Lord Nicholas enters the Great Hall with Hugo on his side. Hugo, brainwashed by Lord Nicholas’s and Vitalis’s indoctrination, has been tasked to use the rats to kill Amicia. Amicia cannot believe her eyes, but before it’s too late Rodric saves her life.

Escape Through the Ramparts

Time to escape. Follow the group through the corridor Rodric had opened for you in Chapter 11.

A new cutscene will start as you approach its end with Lord Nicholas knocking Amicia and Arthur down as they try to flee.

Escape from Nicholas

Lord Nicholas brings Amicia to the castle yard. As Hugo is about to kill her, Amicia tries to talk some sense into him.

However, Lord Nicholas is growing impatient and wants Hugo to fulfill his evil purpose. To escape from Nicholas simply use  until a new cutscene starts.

As Lord Nicholas menacingly walk towards Amicia, Hugo can’t make up his mind. Sick and tired of Hugo’s noncompliance, Lord Nicholas takes matters in his own hands and pushes Hugo aside. As Lord Nicholas is about to strike Amicia down, quickly ask Arthur to drop the wooden scaffolding onto him.

Meanwhile, Hugo seems to have reached the Final Threshold.

Amicia asks Arthur to make sure Nicholas is dead. She wants to talk to Hugo and explains how thorough her lies she was trying to protect him. As Hugo strikes with his rats, Amicia runs towards him to hug him as a way to show the love she feels for him.

As Amicia and Hugo finally reunite, Lord Nicholas gets up and stabs Arthur dead.

Time to kill Nicholas and get revenge!

Kill Nicholas

Nicholas’s impervious to Ignifer, Devorantis, and the only weapons in your arsenal that can bring him down are Exstinguis and Imperius, Hugo’s power of summoning rats. Additionally, in order to win this fight and be able to attack Nicholas, you have to remain hidden as much as possible. Lord Nicholas is very sensitive, even to the slightest of movements. Luckily, his armour slows him down, allowing you, if you were to be spotted, to find a hiding spot quickly enough. The fight has checkpoints, making this fight a lot easier than it seems and Nicholas needs only three rats’ hits to die.

For the first part of the fight, use Exstinguis on the torches by the walls. Putting out their flames releases hordes of rats from the ground. Put out as many as you can. It may also be helpful to use Exstinguis on the surrounding bonfires since we need to have as few sources of light as possible.

After you’ve unearthed some rats and doused some flames, use Imperium on Lord Nicholas. Remember that when Hugo holds Amicia’s hand, she can guide his control over rats. After attacking Nicholas a first time, he will come out of the first horde of rats alive with his sword on fire.

In the second stage, repeat the same process of putting out the torches’ fire to release more rats and dousing the bonfires. However, because of Nicholas’s sword being on fire, directing rats to him will be ineffective. Also, be careful as Nicholas can bring down the defense walls with his sword. For this part of the fight, you need to use Exstinguis on his sword and then quickly use Imperium on Nicholas before he sets his sword on fire again.

In the third and final stage, Nicholas’s armor will be completely on fire and this time you need to using Exstinguis on his whole body. Once his armor is exposed, direct the rats to him for the last and final blow before he sets his armor back on fire.

During the final cutscene, Melie mourns her brother and promises vengeance. Because everyone lost someone on account of the Inquisition, Amicia concurs with Melie and together decide to storm into the city to kill Vitalis once and for all and save Beatrice.

This concludes Chapter 15 “Remembrance” in A Plague Tale: Innocence. Now Chapter 16 “Coronation” starts.
