Playing For Keeps is a Gig in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77). This walkthrough will guide you through all steps of the Playing For Keeps Gig (Side Quest).
Area: Watson (Little China)
Quest Giver: Regina Jones
Requirement: Reach Street Cred Rank 1
Reward: 160 XP / 359 Street Cred / €$1080
Mission Info: Gig type: Search and Recover
Objective: Jacob Lamb’s implant
Location: Kashuu Hanten Bar, Clarendon St.
Got a call from Jacob Lam – friend of mine, director, from the good ol’ days. Ex-director, I should say. Ever since Bushido X made a loss of a billion, the guy never set foot on a set again.
Jacob makes a living playing cards. One time he tried his luck at an illegal Tyger Claws casino at the back of the Kashuu Hanten eatery. Things weren’t looking good, but instead of getting up from the table, he waited until he’d recoup. First went all his money, then his watch, wedding ring… And finally, one of his optics.
Jacob wants his implant back. Sending you the coordinates of the casino where he lost it. AFAIK, the eye’s still there. How you get it is your biz, not mine.
Objectives:
- Go To The Kashuu Hanten Bar In Little China
- Find Jacob Lamb’s Implant
- Steal Jacob Lamb’s Eye
- Deposit The Implant In The Drop Point
Starting Location: Playing For Keeps
Go To The Kashuu Hanten Bar In Little China
This Gig begins in the South-West corner of Little China, just off the main highway. Enter the bar through the main doors to begin looking for the optic.
Find Jacob Lamb’s Implant
Now, head back outside and down the alley to the right to access the back rooms, as if you go in through the front, a fight will break out. There is one enemy sat on a chair here. Hold / to scan the vending machine next to them and choose to distract enemies. The enemy will then stand up allowing you to grab them from behind and either incapacitate or kill them and dump them in the dumper nearby.
Open the door at the end of the alley to get into the back of the bar. There is one enemy in this room. The enemy in this room will be looking at the main doors, use the large generation to distract them so you can walk up behind them and take them down, carrying their body to the dumpster outside, in the alley.
Right in front of you, as you enter, there is a locked door, with a few ways to open it. On the shelves to the left of where you come in, you can find a keycard for the restaurant. Pick it up to add it to your inventory to open the door. You can also steal the key from the bartender, but you will have to knock them out first initiating a fight. Finally, if you read through the emails on the computer in this backroom, you will learn about an underground poker room in the restaurant. Head back through the alley and confront the bartender about it to have him fetch the eye for you if you are patient.
Steal Jacob Lamb’s Eye
If you chose to get the eye yourself, use the key or keycard on the door to find the eye on the shelf to your left.
Deposit The Impant In The Drop Point
Head out of the restaurant and drop the implant into the nearest drop point, which will complete this Gig.
This finishes Playing For Keeps gig in Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77).

Cops have police tape up around the drop point and won’t let me near it….I’ve tried skipping time and doing another mission then coming back. Any advice?

I had the same problem. I wiped out most of the cops with a sniper rifle and then went in with a sawn off and loads of grenades – had 4 wanted stars and more cops on my back. Deposited the drop and ran out the stairs to the front right and off some distance until they cleared. The police system on this game is really bad.
R says
I have the same issue with the police tape, etc. but the reason I didn’t use the drop point in the first place is that the specific drop point wasn’t connected to a power source so no option to sell it hand in the quest item. Even now when I do make it to the machine without the cops aggroing the machine doesn’t work. Any tips?
Tom says
To make it more ridiculous, those cops are there with some Tyger Claws, shaking down civilians and vendors.
Mark Robinson says
Since patch 1.2, the issue of the NCPD impeding the conclusion of this gig has been solved.
Now there are five to six Tygers around who will go hostile if you attempt to deposit the quest item. I used a silenced revolver to take them all down.
