There are a total of 26 Gem Locations in Crash Bandicoot PS4 Remaster.
They are divided into two types:
- Colored Gems (6 total): Obtained by destroying all boxes in certain levels without dying. You must meet both requirements in a single run (remember the ‘not dying’ requirement). Dying in bonus sections is allowed, you just can’t die in the main level.
- Clear Gems (20 total): Obtained by destroying all boxes in certain levels (dying is allowed). To reach all boxes you need the colored gems, they open up new paths to boxes that are otherwise inaccessible (so called “Colored Gem Paths”)!
It’s important that you get all the colored gems first. Without them you can’t destroy all of the boxes for the clear gems. Problem is: the colored gems are reserved for late-game missions (mostly third island). So you’ll have to do a lot of backtracking to replay earlier missions in order to get the Clear Gems.
The Gems are no actual collectibles in the game world. Rather, they are mission rewards for destroying all the boxes in a given level. You then get the Gem as a mission reward.
The tables below show the gem contained in each level and the one you need to open the Colored Gem Path.

Those were all the gem locations in the remastered version of Crash Bandicoot 1! Getting all of them unlocks the trophy “The Ultimate Gem Path”.
