Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Remake Chocobo Search Walkthrough (Chocobo Locations)

Chocobo Search is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Remake. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Chocobo Search Side Mission (Odd Job).

Chocobo Search becomes available in Chapter 14 after the first scene at Aerith’s House.

Mission Info: Cloud has been asked to find three runaway chocobos. They will supposedly come quietly if fed Greens. Find them all, and then report to Sam.

Starting Location: Chocobo Search

Find the first chocobo

In this quest, you’ll be tasked with finding three chocobos for Sam’s Delivery Service, which is essentially a bunch of fast travel points to help you get around quicker. You’ll be given three Gysahl Greens to feed the chocobos so that they return home. The tricky part is to find the chocobo locations. On the fast travel map you can actually see their locations but they are not very exact.

For the first chocobo location, go north past the graveyard to the area where you swung across the monkey bars underneath the pipe earlier in the story. It’s at the top of the Nuts N’ Bolts Hills area.

You’ll see the chocobo in plain sight. However, before you can give him the Greens, you’ll be attacked by a Rust Drake, a more powerful variant of the Drake enemy. This flying beast has no weaknesses to magic, so use your most powerful spells, or better yet, use Barret and his best long-range shooting abilities to Stagger it.

Once it’s down, approach the chocobo and hit to feed it the greens and send it home.

Find the second chocobo

The second chocobo location can be found on the path north of the train station, in Sanctuary Way. Thankfully, there’s no enemy to kill this time. Just approach the chocobo and press to give it the Greens.

Find the third chocobo

The third and final chocobo location is in the Sector 6 Slums: Collapsed Expressway – Old Bypass section (the tunnel you took in the previous Chapter). Like the first chocobo, you’ll have to fight, this time three Trypapolis, a stronger variant of the Varghidpolis. They’re annoyingly resistant to both physical and magical attacks so they take a while to go down, although they pose little attacking threat to you. Feed the chocobo with and you’re done with this quest.

You’ll have the option of automatically returning to Sam in Wall Market. Do so and you’ll be rewarded with a Sam’s Delivery Lifetime Pass which gives you free chocobo fast travel.
