Borderlands 3 Skag Dog Days Side Mission Walkthrough

Skag Dog Days is a side mission in Borderlands 3 (BL3). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Skag Dog Days Side Quest.

Skag Dog Days is unlocked when you have started main mission Cult Following.

Planet: Pandora
Area: The Droughts – Highway
Quest Giver: Chef Frank
Requirement: Having started main mission Cult Following.
Recommended Level: 7 (You must be minimum level 7 to use the given mission gun to shoot the cactus)
Reward: 795$ / 316XP + Eridium
Mission Info: You’re in the hot dog business now, paragon of the culinary world. Congrats. Now get to work.

Starting Location: Skag Dog Days

Find the Big Succ

Grab a vehicle from the nearby Catch a ride station, then head over to the marked area to the North-West.

You can head inside immediately, or head up the ladder on the building just to the right, and jump across the concrete pillars to a chest. Once you grab that head forward into the area killing the enemies, then head around the West side of the building where a Badass Varkid will spawn that you need to kill to get by.

Head inside the trailer, where on the floor you should find a marked cardboard box which will contain the Big Succ.

Find Cacti

Chef Frank then directions you to use The Big Succ to harvest some cacti for him, at a location North-East of the initial point you picked the mission up from.  The marked point is the entrance to a crevice area that you’ll have to leave your car to enter.

Pick up Cactus Fruit: 0/5

Chef Frank instructs you that the secondary fire on the gun he’s had you get is a grenade launcher, which you can use to blow up the cacti to get their fruit. Only the red glowing ones drop fruit, and one each but there are sometimes more than one in the marked area so you’ll have to check multiple. Find and shoot 5 to get 5 fruit. Normal weapon damage will show the cacti as “immune”, it has to be explosive damage. You can also use other explosive weapons (rocket launchers etc.) to make the fruits drop down.

Collect Succulent Skag Meat: 0/5

While in this area you will also be attacked by a number of Skags. Chef Frank also instructs you to pick up the meat from 5 of them.

Kill Succulent Alpha Skag

Chef Frank now asks you to kill an Alpha Skag for him to get it’s meat too. This is found in a cave closer to the entrance to this area. It’s not particularly tough compared to the other skags, and you can switch to better weapons if you have them instead of still trying to shoot it with the mission given weapon.

Collect Alpha Skag Meat

It drops another mission item, which you should promptly pick up.

Kill Mincemeat

Chef Frank realizes that someone has been stealing his Skag meat, and tasks you with killing an enemy named Mincemeat for him. You can warp back to The Droughts – Highway if you want to get over to the area with them quicker. Enter the area and a number of enemies will spawn, along with the boss enemies you are tasked with taking out. Mincemeat is a Psycho who wields a large club, so take him out from farther away.

Kill Trufflemunch and Buttmunch

You also need to kill the pair of Skag pets that are owned by Mincemeat. They will spawn at the same time as him in the area, and they are both charged with a different element. The green one is corrosive, so if you have a Shock weapon you will deal more damage to it, while the other is Radioactive.

Collect Meat: 0/2

After they have all been defeated, Chef Frank asks you to pick up a piece of meat from each of the defeated Skag bosses.

Drop Ingredients Off

Chef Frank will now mark one final location for you to take all of the ingredients to drop off for him. Head over there and place the items in the marked cardboard box to complete the mission and obtain your reward.
