Introduction
Welcome to the Effie Trophy Guide! Effie is a 3D action-adventure game with elements hearkening back to old and more recent platformers, such as Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, and A Hat In Time. Just like these classics, it is a blend of hack-and-slash combat, puzzles, and exploration. Effie tells the tale of Galand, a man who embarks on a perilous quest to recover his stolen youth after being cursed by an evil witch with premature old age. As Galand frees the cities in the region of Oblena from a powerful dark evil, he learns the true power of generosity and what really matters in life.
Effie is an enjoyable ride and quick platinum, but you have to watch out for its many missable trophies. All collectible-related trophies as well as those related to the different locations and activities available in the main hub are missable. If that wasn’t enough, even those related to upgrading Galand’s power are missable. All of them can only be earned as you explore the Red Plains of Oblena and go through each city to recover the Gems of Evil. To be safe, exit the game and upload a save to the PS+ Cloud or to a USB key before entering each city gate (PS4 Settings > Application Saved Data Management). This way you can copy back the save if you missed something, without needing to start a new playthrough from scratch.
Step 1: Play through the Story, Grab All Relics (Collectibles), Visit all the Main Hub’s Locations and Earn all Miscellaneous Trophies Before Entering the Temple
Since all collectibles are missable, your objective is to get everything in one single playthrough. See Effie – All Relic Locations. You must collect them all as you play, as doors will be closed later in the game and you can’t go back. So make sure you get everything at the earliest opportunity!
Most of the trophies are also missable. For the location-specific trophies, you need to surf around the main hub until you’ve found and completed all locations. These locations usually award you a Relic Chest. You can refer to the trophy guide for their locations and what to do in each one of them.
As you explore, make it a point to gather as many rune stones as you can. These are necessary to upgrade Galand’s power. To collect rune stones you can either loot them from Experience Chests (blue chests scattered across the grassland and the cities), kill ghouls, or pick them up in the wild. If you’re not thorough in your exploration, you may not have upgraded Galand’s power a total of six times by the time you enter the Temple (point of no return). A quick word on Experience Chests: they are found in the wild and are sometimes hidden behind walls, inside alcoves, among enemies etc. There’s more than 20 in the game, but make sure you open more than that to max out Galand’s power. If you die, any unsaved Experience Chests will reset and must be opened again!
After collecting all Gems of Evil from the three main cities, you can enter the Temple of Oblena where Melira (witch) is awaiting you for the final boss fight. On the threshold of the temple, the game will give you a point-of-no-return warning. Everything you still need to grab in the main hub must be taken care of now. After beating Melira, the end credits start rolling and after them you’ll be brought back to the main menu. Unfortunately, Relics and Experience Chests do not carry over from game save to game save and if you miss something, you need to start a new game and recollect everything again.
The only trophies you don’t need to worry about are those related to beating the witch at the end of each city, for acquiring all of Galand’s skills, and the shield, which are all part of the story.

The end of an adventure Defeat Melira at the Temple of Oblena. |
||
Automatic story-related unlock. When you reach the top of the Temple of Oblena, you will have to encounter Melira one last time. This time she transforms into a giant form of herself. To bring her down you have to step on all three gem platforms for a total of three time whilst she attacks you and summons her underlings. Every time you step on a gem platform Melira changes the stage, either by summoning some ghouls or creating a new obstacle route.
For all of the three rounds, your job is to platform your way to each gem by using the Dash skill to make it across the pits. When the stage changes, kill the ghouls that spawn in order to continue. Since you have very little room to fight in, make copious use of all of your skills and always be on the lookout for Melira’s overhead attacks. The fight isn’t hard, you just need to keep focused. Once Melira’s health bar is depleted, the fight is won and you’ll unlock the trophy. If you’ve followed the roadmap, this should be your last trophy before the platinum. |

Collector Find all relics. |
||
*Missable* | ||
The best companion ever Get all Runestone skills. |
||
Automatic story-related unlock. Effie sports three main cities, Windmills Town, The Vineyards, and Woodborn. When you visit each one of them, one of the Elder Protectors will provide you with a new skill. Galand can learn three skills: Dash (earned in Windmills Town), Earthquake (earned in The Vineyards), and finally Boomerang (earned in Woodborn). When you’ve acquired the knowledge all of the three skills, the trophy will unlock.
Galand “the Powerful” Upgrade Galand’s power 6 times. |
||
*Missable*
In the top left corner you can see a bar appearing from time to time. This is an XP bar, which progressively fills up as you collect the rune stones lying around the areas you visit, defeat ghouls, and open Experience Chests (blue chests found in the wild). Every time you completely fill the bar, you will get a health boost and your acquired skills will become deadlier. Do this 6 times and you’ll unlock the trophy. A word of caution: this trophy is missable. To play it safe, collect as many runes stones as you can, kill enemies whenever you’ve gotten the chance, and be on the lookout for Experience Chests. If you haven’t popped the trophy before entering the Temple of Oblema to take on the witch for the last time, spend some time in the Plains to look for rune stones, enemies, and Experience Chests. |
||
Experienced Open 20 Experience Chests. |
||
*Missable*
Scattered throughout the areas you visit are blue chests called Experience Chests. When opened, Experience Chests give you a noticeable XP boost and are one of the ways to upgrade Galand’s power. A word of caution: this trophy is missable. While there are more than 20 Experience Chests in the game, you still need to look out for them as most of them require you to take certain detours or platform your way up specific paths. Most of them are luckily easy to spot if you rotate your camera around every once in a while when visiting new areas. Some of them are in the surroundings of Relic Chests in the Red Plains of Oblena. |
||
The Three Tower Complete the Harmony Obelisks area. |
||
*Missable*
North-east of the exit from the Temple of the Elder Protectors, you can see some tall, white towers. To unlock this trophy you need to reach the tallest tower and open the Relic Chest found there. Simply use the stairs to start platforming your way to the top and make sure to turn the platforms’ switches on in case you fall. |
||
Maximus “the Gladiator” Complete the Fire Hammer Coliseum area. |
||
*Missable*
West of the Red Plains of Oblena is a Coliseum. Here you can take the Combat Challenge called Fire Hammer. To unlock this trophy you have to defeat several waves of enemies, whose degree of difficulty increases every time, and open the Relic Chest that is awarded to you upon completion of the challenge. To make this a whole lot easier it is advised to have at least one of the two combat skills at your disposal which are obtainable form The Vineyards and Woodborn and use them in unison with the heavy attack needed for certain enemy types. |
||
2 Fast 2 Furious Complete the Quick Imp area. |
||
*Missable*
East of the Harmony Obelisks area are two stands. Between these two stands is the beginning of a race track. Press within the green mark to start the race. The objective is to finish the race before the time is up. The race track is pretty linear, but in order to make it back to the starting line in one go you need to use the boost beams scattered across the Red Plains of Oblena, especially the green beams which give you a time boost. After completing the race, you’ll be awarded this trophy. Now don’t forget to enter the stand area and collect the Relic Chest on the first floor. |
||
Ghostbusters Complete the Quiet Rock area. |
||
*Missable*
Near Windmills Town is a graveyard. Within it are four levers. Pull each one of them to open the gate to a shrine and reveal the location of a Relic Chest. This trophy will unlock once you’ve opened the Relic Chest. |
||
A walk to remember Complete the Fisher Fish area. |
||
*Missable*
West of the exit from the Temple of the Elder Protectors is a water area with a tall wooden structure in the middle of it. Make your way through the gangways, defeating ghouls as you go, reach the top, open the Relic Chest and you’ll unlock the trophy. |

Songs will be sung Defeat Melira at Woodborn. |
||
Automatic story-related unlock. After riddling out the combination that gives you access to the sawmill, you’ll be attacked by Melira. To defeat her you have to pull three different levers which activate some overhead fire that will burn the witch. To make your way to each lever, you need to perform some platforming across blades, pressing traps, and moving belts. Once you’ve pulled the third lever, Melira will be defeated once again and the trophy will unlock.
A sweet victory Defeat Melira at The Vineyards. |
||
Automatic story-related unlock. When you reach the end of The Vineyards, you’ll have to take on Melira one more time. To defeat her, you need to pull the three levers found in the area twice. Once all of the three levers have been pulled, Melira’s health bar will be depleted by half. Repeat once to defeat her. To get to each lever you need to use your platforming skills and avoid dropping in grapes juice and being hit by her attacks. When Melira spawns her minions, you can easily avoid them and proceed to the next levers to make this fight a lot easier. When you’ve beaten her again, the trophy will unlock.

Nicolai Hansen says
Have a bug with the Relic you can get after the race. It always reset itself. I didn’t get the Collector trophy when got the last Relic and found it was the race one. Got it again, did the Vineyard city and the Collector trophy didn’t pop. It turns it reset itself after everytime, so just get it as the last Relic.
