Upgrade Material: Black Gunpowder
Item Description: Black grains forming the base for gunpowder. Material used in alchemical Prosthetic Tool upgrades, including those of an explosive and occultic nature. Even the most mundane form of gunpowder has a variety of applications.
Location:
- Ashina Outskirts: Outskirts Wall – Gate Path – Continue down the path from General Naomori Kawarda until you get to a building with a woman ringing a bell. Continue down to the next archway and you will see a man with a cannon shooting at you from high up on the wall ahead. Climb up to the top of the wall and defeat this enemy to receive this item.
- Ashina Outskirts: Ashina Castle Gate – From the Ashina Castle Gate idol head through the gate and take out the first enemy and look to the right and there is a ledge. Jump up and you will see two small mushroom cap wearing enemies by a tree. Defeat the two enemies and you will be awarded this item.
- Ashina Outskirts: Ashina Castle Gate – From the Ashina Castle Shrine head back over the bridge and look to the right and you will see a grapple you can get to. Grapple across and there will be a bridge ahead with two enemies. Defeat them and head over the wall ahead and there will be an ogre with a bell and 3 dogs. Take out the dogs and defeat the ogre and pick up this gunpowder in the back area.
- Abandoned Dungeon: Underground Waterway – From the Underground Waterway idol look towards the water and swim to the next piece of land. There will be three enemies on it. Take them out and this will be laying on the floor for you to pick up.
- Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo: Shugendo – From the Shugendo Idol climb the side of the mountain until you get to the part where you can swing across to a ledge you can grab and shimmy to a ledge. From here you can swing and climb up the ledges and wall jump up two walls to where the White Pinwheel was. Turn around and look towards the building coming off the back of the cliff. Inside the door you unlock next to the jar is this item laying on the floor.
- Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo: Temple Grounds – In the Senpou Temple area there is a boss you will need to defeat named Long-arm Gentipede Sen’un. He is located in the temple near the Temple Grounds Idol and can be gotten to be heading down to where the monks are and jumping on the roof of the building they are standing in front of. If you head to the right side of that squared roof you will see another building down below. Drop down and head to the back of the building and enter from the back or enter from the hole in the ceiling. Once inside defeat this boss and this gunpowder will be able to be picked up along the ledge near the giant fire in the jar.
- Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo: Temple Grounds – In the Senpou Temple area there is a boss you will need to defeat named Long-arm Gentipede Sen’un. He is located in the temple near the Temple Grounds Idol and can be gotten to be heading down to where the monks are and jumping on the roof of the building they are standing in front of. If you head to the right side of that squared roof you will see another building down below. Drop down and head to the back of the building and enter from the back or enter from the hole in the ceiling. Once inside defeat this boss and this gunpowder will be able to be picked up right on the ground in front of the giant fire in a jar.
- Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo: Main Hall – From the Main Hall Idol look to the right as soon as you stand up and there will be a deceased monk sitting on the far end of the hall. Behind the pillar to the left of the monk is this gunpowder.
- Ashina Castle: Old Grave – From the Old Grave Idol continue your way downwards until you come out to a broken bridge. On the rght side of the beginning of the bridge you will find this gunpowder laying on the floor.
- Sunken Valley: Sunken Valley – From the Sunken Valley Idol grapple your way down to the platforms below and hug the wall above on the ledge Snake Eyes Shirafuji was on to work your way around the cliff and over the bridge ahead. At the other end of the bridge grapple your way across and start making your way up the side of the mountain until you get to the top. Head up the hill in front of you and you will see this item on the floor right in front of you.
- Sunken Valley: Sunken Valley – From the Sunken Valley Idol grapple your way down to the platforms below and hug the wall above on the ledge Snake Eyes Shirafuji was on to work your way around the cliff and over the bridge ahead. At the other end of the bridge grapple your way across and start making your way up the side of the mountain until you get to the top. Head up the hill in front of you and make a right at the top and you will see an enemy straight ahead but be careful as there are explosive traps on the floor to give up your stealth. On the edge where the gunner was is this gunpowder.
- Ashina Depths: Ashina Depths – From the Ashina Depths Idol head forward into the actual Depths and you will see an item in the hand of a giant statue you can grapple to. Looking forward there is a statue thats only there from the torso up and looks like it is praying. Behind that is a small campsite, at the base of the campsite is this gunpowder.
- Ashina Depths: Mibu Village – From the idol follow the path forward into the towns and continue heading straight until you get to the willow tree covered in white leaves. Under the willow tree is a few items on the ground in the area. This gunpowder is one but be careful as enemies will try to grab you from the ground under the leaf piles.
- Abandoned Dungeon: Bottomless Hole – Hop down into the arena with Shichimen Warrior in it and you will find this on the floor along the walls.
- Misc – Random drop off Gunners, torch wielders and Mibu Villagers.
- Ashina Outskirts: Flames of Hatred – The Battlefield Memorial Mob at the top of the stairs on the right side of the field will sell an infinite amount of these for 150 Sen a piece.
- Ashina Castle: Upper Tower – Kuro’s Room (Burning Ashina) – Head out the window near Emma and drop down to the long staircase below where there is a great battle happening. Halfway down the stairs on the left is a small cubby with this item inside.
Usage: This item is used for upgrades.
