The Tool Box is the 101st main story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Tool Box Main Quest including all Gold Medals for 100% completion.
The Tool Box is unlocked after completing An Honest Day’s Labors and Home Improvement for Beginners.

- Headshot all Skinner Brothers hiding up trees
- Find Mr Wayne within 2 minutes 15 seconds
- Complete using only sidearms
- Complete the mission without taking any health items
Starting Location: Blackwater, West Elizabeth
Talk to Albert Cakes
Albert Cakes sells you a customized pre-fab home, and you and Charles load up two wagons with the wood and components needed to assemble it. Alarmingly, Charles has heard about attacks in the area by the Skinner Brothers, so he’s also hired some additional guns to protect your convoy.
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete using only sidearms
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
After loading up you head out with your huge piles of precut wood, headed for Manzanita Post to get some tools “on the way home” .
Nils is an odd one, but apparently his tools are the best. He loads you up and you get back on your way.
A short time later you are ambushed. You will automatically take cover, and will have to deal with a number of Skinners on the ground. Be sure to remember to only use sidearms. Also be alert for any Skinners wielding machetes that can kill you in one hit if you are not careful.
After the first group is defeated, Charles will call out that they’re attacking from the other side. Seek cover behind the trees and eliminate them quickly.
In the next cinematic, some Skinners will grab the toolbox while others kidnap Mr. Wayne. Skip this cinematic, because time is of the essence starting now.
- GOLD MEDAL: Find Mr Wayne within 2 minutes 15 seconds
Head east to the yellow objective area. Take cover at the downed tree right in front of you.

The Skinners in the trees are hard to see unless you’re looking for them, but from this log you can hit them both. The picture below is taken from directly next to the downed log.
If you use Dead Eye, you will be able to see them clearly. Make sure you kill them before anyone else does.
After you clear everyone out, you’ll get a new waypoint to the east. You’ll find the tool box on the ground, right next to the very dead Mr. Wayne.
Pick up the tools and load them up back at the wagons. Head back to the farm without any further incident to finish the mission.
This finishes The Tool Box main mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now the next quest A New Jerusalem starts.
