To complete one of Pearson’s Errands in Red Dead Redemption 2 you must find the Naval Compass Location. The guide below shows where to find the Naval Compass in RDR2:
The Naval Compass is located in the boathouse of Braithwait Manor. It’s a big farm area south of Rhodes (south-eastern corner of the map). You can pick up the compass from a table.
In order to deliver the compass you must get Pearson’s errand request first. He gives it to you at your gang’s hideout in Chapter 2 between 8:00 – 20:00 at day. Fulfilling 5 errands is a requirement for the Errand Boy trophy and achievement. This errand is missable, it’s only available in Chapter 2! Bring back the Naval Compass to Pearson at your camp to complete this Companion Request.

I just got the request in chapter 3 and was able to finish it in chapter 3.

Also, the compass is there whether you have the request or not. I just picked up the compass, but Pearson didn’t, ask for it, which I thought was odd since the description of the item says it belongs to Pearson.
I got the request in chapter 5 during poker at shady belle and it’s still there

If you dont pick it up and go do the quest for Mary where you have to go get her mother’s broach itll be in the back box of the wagon when you open it
I got this quest in Chapter 4 while playing poker.
I found it at Ridgewood Farm (Epilogue-1). Pearson has never requested it so I guess it’s just brag-swag.
I found it in the lock box of the wagon of the guy you chase to retrieve Mary’s brooch.
