A Fine Night For It is a Stranger Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. This Walkthrough shows how to complete this Stranger Mission in RDR2.
Quest Giver: Old Cajun
Region: Bayou, north of Lagras
Requirements: having finished Chapter 1
Availability: only from 10 PM – 5 AM
A Fine Night For It Prerequisites
In order to unlock the “A Fine Night For It” Side Quest and it’s Stranger, you have to encounter the Night Folk of the Bayou at least once. If you are riding through the Bayou and Bluewater Marsh at night-time and hear voices, see shadows or lights, or see any other grey dot on your mini-map – go investigate. It could be literally any creepy encounter. They tend to happen most frequently around the large lake in the middle of the area.
A Fine Night For It Location
If you had an eligible encounter with the Night Folk, a Stranger Mission appears at night-time on the road heading in/out of Lagras.
An older man is sitting at a camp and tells us about the Night Folk – some bad murdering people who roam the Bayou and also have claimed his house.
Agree to help him to clear them out of his property and follow him through the swamps, where he points out several new corpses which seem to be the handiwork of the Night Folk.

Once you arrive at the man’s house, make sure your Dead Eye is replenished and ready to use. There is going to be a total of five enemies – once you have been spotted, they will all run towards you, mostly with machetes.
Using the Dead Eyes manual tagging feature will come in very handy and you might get all of them with a single use.
When the freaks have been dealt with, the man runs inside and we should claim our reward. This is not the end though, four more enemies will spawn outside and head for the small cabin.
Another time to use the Dead Eye to take them out. Beware, that their small red dots on the map can disappear and reappear on the map. Very likely, a sneaky freak with a machete will creep up on you from the right side, if you just shot the enemies on the left side!
Once the four enemies are down, we can finally claim our reward from the old man.

Does finishing this Stranger mission thus stop future encounters with these “individuals” from happening again?
Crow says
Nope. At least to me. As soon as I finished this mission, I encountered a dead body hanging in Bayou and some of the Night Folk went running after me with nives.
Exarion84 says
I had 2 Encounters with the Night People and no Stranger-Qestmark. This sucks. What I do wrong?
NobodyNose says
The mission can only be done during 1pm-2pm so try camping and sleeping till night
DESTABLISHMENT says
I just wondered if the Night Folks were an highly organized faction seperated from those recorded in the game career menu.
Tosh says
I died during night folk encounter & after i spawned the mission showed up. So you do not have to survive the encounter.
Matt says
You need to pass by the location at night time. It won’t just appear, much like The Veteran.
