Assassin’s Creed A Blade in the Dark Walkthrough

A Blade in the Dark is a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of A Blade in the Dark mission. 

• Region: Harima
• Questboard Category: The League > Yagoro > A Blade in the Dark
• Quest Giver: Corpse at Maniden Hall
• Requirement: Automatically unlocked from story progress (exact unlock timing isn’t clear but it’ll be there after the epilogue), and unfogging the area around the quest start to make the quest icon appear
• Recommended Level: 41
• Reward: 1000 EXP,  The Eager Assassin (Meet Yagoro)
• Quest Description: A mysterious shinobi assassinated several samurai with a weapon resembling a hidden blade, drawing the attention of Naoe and Yasuke.

Find the dead body

This quest can be found by finding the “!” icon in Harima > Engyoji, becomes available during Act 2.

Investigate the dead body to start the quest.

Track the killer

Find the killer at the Hideyoshi Camp just north of your position.

He’s roosted on a tree to the west of the camp.

Chase the suspicious shinobi

When spotted, he bolts. Go after him. He eventually stops.

A dialogue choice pops up:

• [You have potential.]
• [You are sloppy.]

This choice doesn’t affect the quest, so choose whichever you prefer.

Duel with the shinobi

He uses a lot of kunai and smoke bombs. Dodge and parry to get close to him and take him down.

Kill the lead samurai

Head southwest to the building attached to Mitsunodo Hall.

Find the samurai in the westernmost building.

If you get spotted, just take out the samurai to start a cutscene and avoid fighting the other enemies.

This prompts a dialogue choice:

• [It is a symbol.]
• [It is a weapon.]

This choice doesn’t affect the quest, so choose whichever you prefer.

Same with the next dialogue choice:

• [To serve others.]
• [Self discipline.]

This finishes A Blade in the Dark in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This also unlocks the  The Eager Assassin trophy/achievement (Meet Yagoro)
