In Assassin’s Creed Shadows some players are experiencing an issue where the game crashes every 30 seconds regardless of what save file you load.
This issue affects PS5 players in particular, but might also happen for Xbox Series S/X and PC users. It’s caused by an error with the Animus Hub trying to sync your progress but running into a server issue specific to your account.
To fix this:
- Play the game offline, then the Animus Hub stops trying to sync your progress to Uplay servers and the crashes stop. However, you can’t earn trophies/achievements offline since they are bound to the Uplay online progress.
- Play on a different account. PS5 & Xbox users can activate the account that owns the game as their primary account. Then the game can be booted from other accounts on the same system. Steam users can make a family account to give game access to a secondary account. Because the crash issue is an account-specific bug, playing from a different newly created account will fix it. You’ll also have to link a new Uplay profile to your new account.
Additionally, you could try linking a new Uplay profile to your main account, reinstalling the game, or resetting the console to factory settings, but in my case this didn’t fix it and the game remained unplayable on my main account. Your best bet then is to contact Ubisoft support.
If you’re playing on PC, crashes can happen for a variety of other reasons not related to the Uplay cloud sync. Usual culprits are outdated graphics drivers, faulty RAM modules, overly aggressive virus software running in the background, a firewall setting that blocks Uplay, and other GPU related settings.

Could this be fixed with a day one patch?

Did you yourself find this bug/get around it for the platinum btw? i dont know if this is something you were able to pass onto ubisoft directly as i feel getting an early copy might mean you are able to pass it on more effectively then us?
