Introduction
Welcome to the Far Cry 3 Classic Trophy Guide! This a remaster of the original Far Cry 3 for PS4. The Co-Op Mode has been removed (and the Co-Op trophies and trials along with it). The trophy Needle Exchange is now silver instead of bronze. This version has fewer trophies than the original PS3 version. The graphics have also received an upgrade. Far Cry 3 is an open world first-person shooter that takes place on a group of islands. The game starts on the northern island. To reach the southern island you have to progress in the story. Everything was designed in a very user friendly way that will allow you to find all collectibles and side quests without much help. All the information you need is shown on the world map. In the top right corner of the map are coordinates that will be incorporated in this trophy guide. The fast travel system allows you to move from one important location to another. This feature will save a lot of time on your way to platinum! There are a total of 12 story related trophies and many others will come naturally. There are no difficulty requirements for any trophies, so feel free to start your journey on easy.
What’s Different in Classic Edition?
- It’s the PS4 Version with better Performance & Graphics (there’s a 4 weeks early-access period for season pass owners of Far Cry 5)
- Removed Trophies (All Co-Op + 1 Trial Trophy): Here We Come, Return to Sender, Rocking the Boat, Hide and Seek, Late Night Pick-up, Getting Even, Let the Trials Begin
- Changed Trophy Values: Needle Exchange is now Silver instead of Bronze
- The Co-Op and online Features have been removed from this version
Step 1: Beating the Story on Easy Difficulty, Combat Trophies
This step is simple. Play through the story on easy difficulty and have fun. Along the way you should try to activate all radio towers to uncover the map completely. This will make the collectible hunt easier later on. Maps for all collectible locations are available at the general store after activating the radio towers. Buy these maps as soon as you can.
Some skills require certain combat actions to be unlocked. Take care of the following requirements:
- Press to jump onto an enemy below and kill him – Death from Above skill required (x1)
- Click to kill an enemy above on a climbable ledge – Death from Below skill required (x1)
- Liberate outpost without being detected (x2)
Also watch out for Never Saw it Coming. This trophy is quite tricky if you do not do it during one of the main story missions. Please check out the trophy explanation in the guide below. A good place to get this early is in the 6th mission “The Medusa’s Call”.
Note:
You can reset outposts to mop up missing trophies. To reset outposts you need to pause the game and go to options > gameplay > reset outposts. This will allow you to farm kills for certain skills and trophies even after beating the story.
Step 2: Collectibles, Side Quests, Skills, Miscellaneous Trophies
After the story is over you will enter free roam mode and get the chance to complete all the things that you didn’t do earlier.
Complete all the remaining miscellaneous / combat related trophies while capturing the outposts.
After activating all radio towers, get the collectible maps from the general store and collect 60 relics, 20 letters and 20 memory cards.
Most of the side quests can be ignored. Play at least one quest of each type and complete 3 “Supply Drop” & 3 “Wanted Dead” quests to unlock the “Adrenaline Surge” & “Dealmaker” skills.
After this is done you should be able to buy all skills. If you should still need XP you can keep doing side quests.
Collectibles
= Lost Letter – Collect 20
= Memory Card – Collect 20
= Relic – Collect 60
= Outpost – Liberate 34
= Radio Tower – Activate 9 (18 recommended to uncover map)
Side Quests & Activities
= Path of the Hunter – Complete 1
= Trial of the Rakyat – No longer required in Classic Edition
= Wanted Dead – Complete 3
= Supply Drop – Complete 3
= Poker – Win $1500

It’s almost on the top so you will need to climb your way up. After reaching the yellow Glider you need to press to use it. Do not not steer while you are in the air! Keep gliding until you reach the ocean. Once you are over the ocean press to exit the Glider. You will then fall into the water and unlock the trophy. |
||
Inked Up Earn 5 skill tattoos. |

Fully Inked Earn every tattoo by learning all the skills. |

XP can quickly be obtained by completing story missions, side quests, finding collectibles and killing enemies. When completing all these activities you will automatically get more than enough XP to buy everything. There is no need to farm XP!
Take care of the following things as early as possible:
You can also reset outposts. So this trophy is not missable and you can farm kills after beating the story. |
||
Money to Burn Spend $5000 at the shop. |
||
A shop can be found at every fast travel location. You have to spend a total of $5000 by buying ammo, weapons, attachments or paint jobs. This can be done during the course of the story. You do not have to spend all the money at once. Loot dead bodies and chests for quick money.
Aftermarket Junkie Buy all attachments and paint jobs for one weapon. |
||
This works really well with your starting weapon, the 1911 pistol. This firearm has no attachments, just 6 paint jobs that cost $200 each. A total of $1200 is required! While accessing a shop choose to customize this weapon and press . This will bring you to the paint job selection. Buy all available paint jobs and this trophy is yours.
Rebel With a Cause Liberate 3 outposts. |
||
See Island Liberator. | ||
Island Liberator Liberate all outposts. |
||
Outposts are similar to collectibles. They are shown with a symbol on your world map. There are 34 of them in total. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu. To liberate an outpost you have to kill all its guards. |
||
Unheard Liberate an outpost without triggering an alarm. |
||
There are a total of 34 Outposts. You can liberate any of these outposts without triggering an alarm. Search for the alarm switch in an Outpost and disable it by pressing :square:. Now you just need to kill the remaining enemies. It does not matter if the enemies see you or not. They are just not allowed to ring the alarm. If you hear the loud alarm then kill yourself and you should respawn somewhere near the Outpost and can try it again. You can also reset outposts. |
||
Full Bars Activate 9 radio towers. |
||
Radio Towers are similar to collectibles. They are shown with a symbol on your world map. There are 18 of them in total. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu. While only 9 out of 18 are required for this particular trophy, it’s highly recommended to activate all of them as soon as possible. This will uncover the map which makes it easier to navigate through the world. It will also allow you to find the other collectibles more easily. |
||

||
Relics are typical collectibles in Far Cry 3. They are shown with a symbol on your world map. There are 120 of them in total. Only 60 are required for this trophy and there is no need to collect the rest. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu.To reveal all their locations you must activate all of the radio towers and buy the item maps from a shop. All maps together cost $4000. Once the maps are bought you can zoom in on your in-game world map and see the exact locations. |
||
Dead Letters Gather all “Letters of the Lost”. |
||
Lost Letters are typical collectibles in Far Cry 3. They are shown with a symbol on your world map. There are 20 of them in total. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu.

||
This will unlock automatically while playing through the story. You unlock entries for pretty much everything you see and everyone you meet. This includes people, factions, locations, weapons, vehicles, wildlife and plants. The Survival Guide can be found in the pause menu when you go to the handbook section. There you can keep track of all the things you have discovered.
Bagged and Tagged Complete a Path of the Hunter quest. |
||
Path of the Hunter is a series of side quests. These quests become available after liberating outposts. They are shown with a symbol on your world map. Successfully complete one single of these quests to unlock the trophy. Your objective is to hunt and skin animals with certain weapons.
Road Trip Complete a Supply Drop quest. |
||

In Cold Blood Complete a WANTED Dead quest. |

Poker Bully Win $1500 playing poker. |
||
Poker games are shown on the map with a symbol. There are 4 difficulties. The higher the difficulty, the higher the earnings:
Practice = $0 wager, $0 maximum earnings Before playing a game of Poker you should save your game. Then play on Expert difficulty, go All-In and if you win you save your game again. If you lose you reload your last save game and repeat. In the statistics you can keep track of how much money you have earned from poker in total. To access the statistics open the pause menu > handbook > press > world > total poker winnings. |
||
Hunter Hunted Lure and kill a predator. |
||
Common predators in Far Cry 3 are Crocodiles, Sharks, Tigers, Leopards, Komodos etc. Most animals are shown on your map when you zoom in. Look for the symbol of one of these animals and go to that area. Keep running around until you are attacked by a predator and kill it. Crocodiles are not displayed on the map, but they can be found in most rivers. You can either shoot the animal while it’s chasing you or stab it while it’s latched onto you. |
||
Poacher Hunt and skin a rare animal. |
||
Rare animals can be found during “Path of the Hunter” quests. To play these quests you need to liberate Outposts. The spawn area of the animals will be shown during the quests. You can see a red “Rare” stamp on the hunter posters if the quest features rare animals. One of these quests can be started at the coordinates X: 428.9, Y: 694.3 (see to right corner of the world map). |
||
Artsy Craftsy Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment. |
||
In the pause menu you need to open the crafting tab and there you can put together different equipment upgrades. For example: weapon holsters, wallets, loot rucksacks. You need to skin animals to craft new equipment. The required type of animal skin is displayed below the equipment piece. When zooming in on your world map you are able to see symbols that show possible spawn areas of animals.
Needle Exchange Craft 25 syringes. |
||
Syringes can be crafted by accessing the “Craft” section in the pause menu. Plants are needed to make the final product. Plants grow everywhere in the wilderness and are displayed on the HUD when you are close to them. The most common syringes are Medicine (2 x green leaf), Animal Repellent (2 x yellow leaf) and Enhanced Perception (x2 crimson leaf). There’s also a skill called “Horticulture 101” that allows you to harvest two leaves from each plant instead of just one.
The Good Stuff Craft a special syringe. |
||
Special syringes are unlocked by collecting relics. See Archeology 101 for more information on how to find relics. After 30 relics have been found you unlock the first special syringe recipe “Untouchable”. To craft it you need 2 white, 5 green and 5 blue leaves. |
||
Say Hi to the Internet Find the lost Hollywood star. |
||
The lost Hollywood star can be found at the coordinates X: 619.7, Y: 559.4 (see top right corner of the world map). This is at the beach of one of the northern islands. You can go there shortly after the game starts. Stay at the beach and look for two dead people that are hanging on a tree. There is a man buried in the sand and you can only see his head. Go to the buried man and press . |
||
Heartless Pyro Kill 50 enemies with the flamethrower (Single Player only). |
||
The flamethrower can be equipped at any shop. You can either buy it for money, or activate radio towers to get it for free. Keep it in your inventory for several missions and try to kill as many enemies as possible with it. The enemies have to die by the fire from the flamethrower.
Love the Boom Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with one explosion (Single Player only). |
||
Get an explosive weapon from a weapon locker or general store. The RPG-7 rocket launcher works best. You can either buy it or activate radio towers to get it for free. Now go to the Welshore Wrecker’s House Outpost (coordinates X: 437.9, Y: 795.0) and make some noise until the enemies activate the alarm. Wait for the reinforcement Jeeps to arrive, but keep at least one Outpost guard alive. In the second Jeep (the one without the turret) is usually 4 soldiers. Shoot this vehicle with your rocket launcher before the soldiers get out. Alternatively you can also plant some C4 and group up some enemies, then blow it up. If it doesn’t work on your first try simply get yourself killed and you should respawn somewhere around the Outpost and can try it again. Just don’t kill the last Outpost guard before getting the trophy. |
||
Rock Always Wins Fully distract 25 enemies with rocks (Single Player only). |
||
You can throw stones by pressing . The enemy will be fully distracted when he walks to the location where the stone landed. Do this to 25 different enemies. This trophy should come naturally while playing through the main story because there are some stealth missions where you are not allowed to get detected. Throwing stones makes it easy to sneak past enemies. You can also farm the 25 distractions at outposts. After liberating all outposts there are still enemies at the coordinates X: 412.4, Y: 729.5. Some people have reported that they needed much more than 25 distractions. Don’t worry, the trophy is not bugged. Just keep distracting enemies and it will unlock sooner or later.
Never Saw it Coming Kill an enemy with a takedown from above from a glider, zipline or parachute (Single Player only). |
||
First of all you will have to buy the “Death from Above” skill in the Heron skill tree. This will allow you to perform a stealth takedown when jumping on enemies. Jumping down while using a zipline is the easiest way. The glider or parachute methods are rather tricky and unpredictable. Ziplines can be found during many main story missions, but are rarely found near enemies in the open world. The earliest chance to get this during the story is in the 6th mission “The Medusa’s Call”. No matter where you do it, the strategy is always the same: throw some stones to lure nearby guards under the zipline. Use the zipline when the guards are in place and detach when you are above them. The kill will then be performed automatically, no additional buttons need to be pressed. If you’ve completed the story then start a new game and do it in the “Medusa’s Call” mission. |
||
Improper Use Kill an enemy with the Repair Tool (Single Player only). |
||
First of all you will need to get the Repair Tool from a weapon locker or general store. You can either buy it or activate radio towers to get it for free. At the general store it can be found in the section for “Special” objects. Once you have the Repair tool equipped, search for some enemies near an Outpost or play one of the side- or main missions. Get close to an enemy and burn him for 2-3 seconds with the Repair Tool from close range. |
||
Toxophilite Kill a target from 70m or more with the bow (Single Player only). |
||
First of all you will need to get the Recurve Bow from a weapon locker or general store. You can either buy it or activate radio towers to get it for free. Also buy and equip the Markman Sight. It’s a very useful attachment for long range shots. Now search for some enemies and put a marker on their location on the world map. Walk away until the marker shows a distance of 70+ meters and take the shot while the enemy is standing still. The Welshore Wrecker’s House Outpost (coordinates X: 437.9, Y: 795.0) is near the starting area of the game and one of the best locations to get this done early. |
||
Island Paparazzi Tag 25 enemies using the camera (Single Player only). |
||
The camera can be equipped by pressing . You will have the camera from the beginning. This will allow you to track the movement of enemies. If there is an enemy in sight of the camera he will be tagged immediately. You will know that an enemy was tagged if he has an orange symbol above his head. You will even be able to see their movements through walls.
Fearless or Stupid Dive more than 60m (Single Player only). |
||
Search for a dark blue part of the ocean on your map (e.g. at the coordinates X: 709.1, Y: 835.6). These are the deepest parts of the ocean. You need to activate radio towers to uncover the map. After reaching such a point in the ocean you need to dive down until you hit the ground. Click the left stick to swim faster. |

Hey guys, this is my original Far Cry 3 guide from 2012 reorganized for the PS4 Remaster, aka Classic Edition.
The Classic Edition is currently in early-access for Season Pass holders of Far Cry 5 (e.g. if you have the Gold Edition of Far Cry 5 you must search for “Far Cry 3” in PlayStation Store and download it).
They removed all the co-op / trial trophies. A changelog is to be found at the start of the guide.
Trophies can already be earned but not synchronized. Sony hasn’t put them on the PSN Servers yet but you can see your earned trophies when disconnecting from the internet (view trophy list offline). When the list goes live on PSN Servers you can sync the trophies, nothing you earn now will be lost.
Enjoy!
Chris says
Thank you for that I’ve been straight ticked waiting for a patch or someone to clear this up
FierrcViper 82 says
Nice one I wondered why they wasn’t showing up when a booted the game up.Every time I go too my trophies it says syncing with the network.
Daniel says
and if u sync manually error message will pop up. So just wait PSN and UBI to solve this issue
Marcus Lundgren says
Why did they remove so many offline trophies?
I’ve already platinum’d the game on PS3 years ago, but I wanted to do it again now,
and it just feels like a cheap experience since they’ve made it easier.
The online trophies were horse shit, so I don’t mind losing them.
But the single player ones? WTF? Ubisoft logic…
jjnet123 says
They didnt remove any offline trophies only the coop ones and the Let the trials begin trophy which involved beating a score on an online leaderboard in the trials of the rakyat mode. those were all online related trophies.
ImAPirateSoSueMe says
At the end of the Introduction, you say that there are 6 co-op trophies. I assume you just copy/pasted from a PS3 guide but just thought I would point it out.
PowerPyx says
Was a copy & paste mistake indeed. Fixed now, thanks for pointing it out.
TheGoaler says
Pyx, you are the best.
I wouldn’t have minded the co-op trophies, as i got them all with randoms on the PS3 version.
I see ‘Poker bully’ is back. I had a hard time with that.
After playing 5, i’m kind of spoiled and upset that i have to craft again.
Liberating outposts in 3 were the most fun out of all the games. Can’t wait to do those again.
InfraRedPs says
Thanks for the guide! The video posted under Hunter Hunted is the wrong one, it shows the free fall video instead.
PowerPyx says
Hmm for me it shows the videos correctly. Might have been a loading issue, have seen it happening before with multiple videos on a page.
Is it still wrong after refreshing the page? If it is a loading issue then refreshing should fix it. Let me know if it’s still showing wrong vid for you.
Cx says
You wrote “Deadmaker” I think you mean “Dealmaker” skill, thanks for the guide btw.
PowerPyx says
Good spotting, fixed – thanks!
HeavyCaliber says
I remember on PS3 for 25 distractions trophy, the enemy needed to go to the rock and than return to his starting location for it to count. Maybe its the same in this version?
Vampyr says
Sorry last comment is wrong I meant when you starting Vampyr trophy guide?
PowerPyx says
I removed last comment. I’m just finalizing Vampyr Guide now. Will be up in 1-2 hours!
Vampyr says
Thank you and yeah look forward to your trophy guide for that game. 🙂
Thomas A. Nowling says
I see for the Supply drop and Wanted quests, they require 3. Just to let you know, they only require 1 to obtain those two trophies. Just a heads up.
Lino says
I have killed myself so many times, but the glider never appears to me, for the trophy “Free Fall”
Lino says
I found one at the coordinates x: 794.0 y: 726.7 that appears
daffyexpert4 says
I sat here for 30 minutes distracting the same guy without looking at my screen just listening for the audio cues i have no idea how many rocks it took but i finally got the platinum
Braun Strowman says
I don’t get the “love the boom” trophy despite killing 4 guys with one explosion.
I’m so close to Platinum -.-
Chris says
Hmmm. Not sure why it’s listed as 20/25 hours. Only took me 15 hours to get the platinum.
Constantinos Ioannou says
The rocks trophy won’t unlock
Joshua McKenzie says
It does unlock. You have to let the enemies go through whole animation.
