Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Popinjay Shoot Walkthrough

Popinjay Shoot is a task in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Popinjay Shoot side task.

• Questline: Yackers ‘n’ Fash > (Tragedy in Danemark) > Striped Tonies > Popinjay Shoot
• Quest Description: Every mine shaft in Kuttenberg has been getting ready for the miners’ annual popinjay competition. Foreman Vlach invited me to come watch their champion Anton Kaspar win. The competition takes place in the morning at the shooting range in Hoprink.

Objectives:

1. Talk to Vlach early in the morning
2. Win the shooting competition

Starting Location: Popinjay Shoot

This task is received automatically when you successfully complete the quest Striped Tonies. You can then head to the archery range in the southeast corner of Kuttenberg early in the morning to view the competition. The description implies this happens the very next day, but the task doesn’t actually progress until you go to this location and speak to Vlach.

Talk to Vlach early in the morning

Head to the archery range, and Vlach should be there waiting around 7:00 outside the wall.

Speak to him and he’ll explain that Anton isn’t going to make it and asks you to participate instead. Agree to help out and you will be the one participating in the shooting competition. If you want to make sure you win save the game before agreeing to participate, as once you agree to start you have one attempt at the shooting contest and cannot retry. If you have already triggered this task but want to practice, you can go to the Devil’s Den to the archery range, and Kubyanka runs a similar contest there as long as that is where the band is currently located (early when reaching Kuttenberg or post story).

Win the shooting competition

You will then be participating in a crossbow shooting contest against two other people. If you don’t currently have a crossbow on you, you can be provided one. You will then start and you have nine crossbow shots to hit a possible total of 9 popinjay targets.

The other two are quite good shots, so to win you need to be quick and not miss yourself. Aim for the ones either closest to you or easiest to aim at such as the ones on the poles (they are easy to hit as you can aim along the line of the pole just under the targets). As long as you can hit 4 you should win, as the other two opponents will typically hit 2 and 3 themselves. The contest ends once all targets have been hit.

Once the contest ends whether you win or lose, the task is complete. You receive a reward from Vlach based on how well you did.
