Starting Location: Mutt
You will automatically start with this objective once you start Main Quest 5: Wedding Crashers and can work on this quest at any time.
Find out what happened to Mutt
When you go to the marked location you will find a vagabond searching the body on the ground. He will attack you regardless of what you say, so be ready to pull out your sword and fight him off, then make sure to loot him after.
Inspect the body he was looting and check nearby where there is a deer on the ground, which will trigger the next objective to speak with the herbwoman.
At this point you are able to find Mutt without completing any further objectives, either exploring on your own or going directly to the location of the Find Mutt! objective below. You aren’t required to do any of the other objectives and you can still start all other side content without doing any of the objectives, so how you go about this is entirely up to you.
Go ask the herbwoman about Mutt
She won’t have any information about Mutt, but suggests two new locations you can check out.
Ask about Mutt in the tavern
The closer objective is in the nearby settlement of Zhelejob, located halfway between the hut and Troskowitz. On the north side of the town is the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn, where you can speak with Innkeeper Lawrence.
He hasn’t seen anything either but suggests checking with the shepherd from Kopanina.
Try and ask the fisherman about Mutt
Northwest of Zhelejov you can find the Vidlak Pond location, where there will be a fisherman at the northern house.
He’ll tell you the same thing as Innkeeper Lawrence, so you can head to your remaining location to the east north of Tachov.
Go and ask the shepherd from Kopanina whether he’s seen Mutt
The shepherd will tell you about a pack of wolves attacking his sheep, and Mutt may be with them. He suggests you take care of the pack of wolves, and offers you a few suggestions for what to do. You are best off not using his offered sheep as bait, unless you aren’t going for Lent this playthrough. Say you will bait the area yourself.
Place bait near the birches on the slope
Go to the marked location, and drop some meat on the ground in the middle of the trees to lure the wolves. This can be any animal meat, fresh, cooked, or dried it shouldn’t matter. It is dropped by holding on it while in your inventory, not with a specific action at the spot.
If you don’t have meat, a quick way to get it is to go to the northeast to Herbalist Barnaby whose house is at the end of the path leading into the forest. Speak with him and ask about him being alone, and he’ll mark a nearby Enemy Camp. If you head there and kill the two enemies (they can be stealth killed either at night or by luring them apart during the day) then you can loot the camp to find a couple of different dried meats to place down.
Hide in the bush and wait for the wolves to come
Now move nearby where the objective points toward to hide. You’ll need to stand in the specific spot Henry looks at when you hold , then a prompt will appear to “lurk on wolves” which will pass time by one hour.
Kill the wolf pack/Tell Siegfried the shepherd about the wolf pack
Now the pack will appear just out of the forest in front of you, with the option to kill them. You DO NOT want to do this if you are trying to earn the Lent trophy/achievement. Instead, you should immediately go back to Siegfried (avoiding alerting the wolves) where you have the option to either tell him you didn’t kill them, or lie and say that you did. If you tell him the truth that you didn’t kill them you will lose rep with Siegfried and he won’t give you any more information, so you are better off just lying. You will receive an increase in rep, along with 20 x Groschen for “taking care of them”.
Ask the gamekeeper where to look for lost Mutt
Siegfried tells you to try checking with the gamekeeper who is located southeast of Vidlak Pond, where you should head to next. If you reached a conclusion with Siegfried that didn’t result in him suggesting it you can go here next anyway. Either way will result in you starting a quest before you can get more information.
Save the gamekeeper
Refer to Side Quest: Lackey.
Once you have completed the quest and brought Vostatek home (regardless of other outcomes) speak to him again at his house for another tip about Mutt’s location. He’ll point you toward a spot northwest of the Miller, slightly southeast of the Rocktower Pond fast travel point.
Find Mutt!
Head to the marked location, which will be up some small paths along some cliffs. Once you reach the area there will be some deer carcasses on the ground, which you should follow along the path north to a cave where there will be an automatic cutscene.
Mutt Location:
Kill the wolves or flee!
After the scene, you will receive a tutorial on the controls for utilizing Mutt. You are currently being attacked by a group of wolves, so as before if you are going for Lent DO NOT attack the wolves with weapons. You can just run away from the area without consequence which will complete the quest, but if you want to loot the cave the wolves are coming from you can do what you can do in Lackey and fight the wolves unarmed, which doesn’t count against your animals killed stat. Even though there are five wolves here they should be easier to deal with due to the smaller area and Mutt’s help. Once dealing with them all you can find a mound of rocks in the cave with a number of jewelry items.
After dealing with the wolves, either by fighting them or running away, you will complete the quest. Afterward you can wait for 3 days and the next quest Sheep among Wolves becomes available at Innkeeper Betty in Troskowitz.
This finishes Mutt side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
For all other Quests refer to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Walkthrough.
Sean Cosby says
Finding the deer didn’t trigger to speak to the herb women the marker is still at the deer but nothing to click on
PowerPyx says
If any objective gets stuck just head straight to Mutt’s location, doing the other objectives is optional.
Yamamato says
You need to also examine the dead body that the other guy was looting. Then, the herb woman will be the next marker.
Baz says
How on Earth do you run away from the wolves in the end? They don’t give up chasing me
PowerPyx says
Run back into the Nomad’s Camp where people are, or into the lake, or get on your horse and ride away quickly, or knock the wolves unconscious by kicking them in unarmed combat.
