Introduction
Welcome to the LEGO Horizon Adventures Trophy Guide! LEGO Horizon Adventures narrates a revisited version of the story of Horizon Zero Dawn with the trademark of LEGO games. The game contains approximately 90 “collectibles”, but they come automatically from the story. Each level rewards players with a Gold Brick, a Gadget, or a Rare Weapon, and occasionally a playable character. It’s not necessary to reach 100% completion for Platinum. All you have to do is collect at least 50 Gold Bricks from level rewards, buy 75 Outfits, 20 Roofs or Yards, 75 Decorations, complete 20 Community Jobs (quick and easy challenges), buy 10 Upgrades, unlock and max out every playable character, collect all Rare Weapons and all Gadgets. The only grindy step is to max out all playable characters to level 20.
Step 1: Finish the Story [10 Hours]
Just enjoy and finish the story. There are 5 chapters, each consisting of 5 levels, except the last chapter which is shorter. While playing through the levels, focus on collecting as many studs as possible from the building opportunities and the chests. At Mother’s Heart, buy and max out all XP Upgrades when you can afford them. These will allow you to get XP much faster if you kill enemies with Rare Weapons and Gadgets and will make Step 3 less tedious.
The “collectibles” all come automatically from story progress. Gold Bricks are simple rewards for finishing levels, Gadgets and Rare Weapons are from the merchant chests found halfway through every level. Community Jobs are quick challenges such as defeating enemies a certain way. Outfits, Decorations, Roofs/Yards are purchased. Characters are all automatic story unlocks. When a level gives you a path choice to go to a Tallneck or Cauldron pick those paths, but you can also still get 3 of each in Expeditions after the story.
Optional Time Saver: Playing with 2 controllers lets you level 2 characters simultaneously. This would save some of the XP grind later. The second controller/player can remain idle as it gets automatically teleported to the main player when out of screen. Co-op is unlocked after the prologue, so if you want you can make use of this during the story to level 2 characters simultaneously. If you’d rather not deal with this, you can make use of it during the XP grind in Step 3.
Step 2: Apex Machine Hunting Grounds [1 Hour]
Once you’re done with the story, it’s time to take care of the Apex Hunting Grounds. These are quick and straightforward challenges.
Step 3: XP Grind to Max Out All Characters in Expedition Mode [5 Hours]
By the time you’ve finished the story and completed all Apex Machine Hunting Grounds, you should be at least level 18 with one character if you’ve never switched to any other ones during the previous two steps. Now it’s time for the grindy part to Platinum: you must max out all characters to level 20. The best Expedition to do this in is the second one. Its access gate is in the northernmost part of Mother’s Heart. It almost always has Snapmaws, Corrupted Machines and Shell-Walker, giving you the most XP.
If you have a 2nd controller, remember you can play local co-op to level 2 characters simultaneously, thus cutting the XP grind in half.

Super Team Max Level all Characters. |
||
Maxing out all characters means reaching level 20 with all of them. When you unlock a character for the first time, they will be the same level as the character you’ve been playing with up until that point. For example, if you unlock Teersa as level 10 Aloy, Teersa will start at level 10. This will make the XP grind to get to level 20 with all characters much more tolerable. You can only grind XP to level up all characters in Expedition mode as this is the only playable mode once you’re done with the story and the Apex Machine Hunting Grounds. The best Expedition to do this in is the second one, whose access gate is in the northernmost part of Mother’s Heart. It almost always has Snapmaws, Corrupted Machines and Shell-Walker, giving you the most XP. Before you start, make sure you have equipped all gold tier XP upgrades and prioritize kills with Rare Weapons and Gadgets for extra XP. Unfortunately, you can’t farm XP as enemies don’t respawn endlessly during fights. You must play Expedition Mode over and over again until all characters are level 20.
If you have a 2nd controller, you can play local co-op to level 2 characters simultaneously, thus cutting the XP grind in half. The second controller/player can remain idle as it gets automatically teleported to the main player when out of screen. Co-op is unlocked after the prologue, so if you want you can already make use of this during the story. |
||
Gonna Need a Bigger Wardrobe Obtain 75 Outfits. |
||
First, you must find the Tailor in the wilds. This is an unmissable, story-related event. Then, simply buy 75 different Outfits from the Tailor in Mother’s Heart to unlock this trophy. Outfits are very cheap, allowing you to unlock this trophy relatively early.
Masterbuilder Obtain 20 Roofs or Yards. |
||
First, you must unlock a main Customization station in Mother’s Heart. These are gated behind having a certain number of Gold Bricks. Once you have enough to unlock a station, you can access the Roofs and Yards menu. For this trophy, you must buy 20 different Roofs or Yards. These are relatively cheap, allowing you to unlock this trophy relatively early.
Just For Show Obtain 75 Decorations. |
||
First, you must unlock the Decoration stations. This is an unmissable, story-related event. Decoration stations are much smaller than Customization stations. For this trophy, you must buy 75 different Decorations. These are relatively cheap, allowing you to unlock this trophy relatively early.
Community Service Complete 20 Community Jobs. |
||
First, you must unlock the Community Jobs noticeboard. This is an unmissable, story-related event. Community Jobs are quick and easy challenges, for example to kill a certain number of enemies a specific way or building specific Decorations or Yards for interactions. There are far more than 20 Community Jobs, so focus on the easiest ones.
There’s Gold in them Bricks Collect first Gold Brick. |

Yellow Brick Hoard Collect 50 Gold Bricks. |

A Rare Treat Discover all Rare Weapons. |
||
Rare Weapons are guaranteed drops during the story. Halfway through all levels, you will find a merchant with three different chests. These chests will always contain either a Rare Weapon or Gadget. You will most likely unlock all Rare Weapons as you play through the story. If for some reason, you don’t have all Rare Weapons by the time you’ve finished it, you will unlock this in Expedition Mode where you can also find the merchant with his three chests.
All the Toys Discover all Gadgets. |
||
Gadgets are guaranteed drops during the story. Halfway through all levels, you will find a merchant with three different chests. These chests will always contain either a Gadget or Rare Weapon. You will most likely unlock all Rare Weapons as you play through the story. If for some reason, you don’t have all Gadgets by the time you’ve finished it, you will unlock this in Expedition Mode where you can also find the merchant with his three chests.
Top Grade Obtain 10 Upgrades. |
||
You can buy Upgrades from the All-Mother Tree at Mother’s Heart. There are a total of 16 different Upgrades, some of which with a bronze, silver, and gold tier. For this trophy, each tier counts as an upgrade, so you don’t have to buy 10 different Upgrades. Prioritize XP upgrades to gather XP faster and make the final XP grind more manageable. |

Wait, there is no areas to 100% explore after the story?
P.S. Oh, I should watch gameplay trailers. I could save money 🙁
MxBcardi says
If playing coop does the second player get the trophies also, if they are signed into their PSN account?
YourHeroChris says
Thanks for the quick guide. Looks like a pretty quick and easy weekend game. I’ll be picking this up tomorrow after work.
Nikki_boagreis says
This doesn’t look like the standard for Lego games, no 100% all areas and level a character and level all characters. This seems more like Horizon then Legos.
Jeff says
Looks like a fun game to play over the weekend. Nice and easy platinum. I wish I still had a second controller to speed things up as far as leveling goes but it looks like it won’t be too bad regardless.
Troy says
Is there cross-progression for online co-op?
Ben says
The “Factory Settings” trophy is bugged for me, I just completed my first Cauldron but the trophy didn’t pop.
Don says
Great, thanks for the guide. I hope my pre-order from Amazon comes quick so I can have my second platinum by the end of tomorrow and then continue grinding GTA 3 over the weeknd xD
