A Beggar’s Tale is a side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the A Beggar’s Tale side mission.
- Starting Location: Vernworth
- Quest Giver: N/A
- Requirement: Complete In Dragon’s Wake main quest
- Reward: 900 XP, 1 x Noonbloom & 3000 G (if you gave the garb to Celina), 3 x Onyx (if you gave the garb to Hilda), 5000 G (if you gave the garb to Albert)
- Quest Description: Albert of the slums seems to be doing quite well for himself, but even his fellow beggars are baffled by how much coin he has in spite of his meager means.
Objectives:
- Keep an eye on the beggar
- Deliver the beggar’s garb
Starting Location: A Beggar’s Tale
To start this quest, go near the statue in the Merchant’s Quarter in Vernworth during the day and there should be a beggar in front of the fountain. Speak with one of the people nearby which should trigger the quest.
Keep an eye on the beggar
Your goal is to keep an eye on Albert and figure out how he is earning his money. You are meant to wait for him to leave his spot at night, but if you rest and he disappears immediately you can try going immediately to Walter’s Tavern in the Slums, which is where he will walk to.
If you again can’t find him there, you can just go directly to the house in the southeast corner of the Common Quarter, where you will find a locked door and Albert talking behind the door. It will be locked, but if you wait a few minutes Albert will leave.
After he leaves, you can go inside and pick up the Beggar’s Garb item from the corner of the room.
Deliver the beggar’s garb
Now to complete the quest you have a few options. You can go back to Walter’s Tavern and speak with Celina. Giving her the Beggar’s Garb will end up with the “worst” outcome after a couple of days.
You can go to Baldwin’s Estate in the Noble Quarter and give the garb to Hilda, who is Albert’s real wife. Doing so makes him give up begging when you returning, and is the “best” outcome.
If you give the garb directly to Albert (who should also be at Baldwin’s Estate if he walked away) nothing will change, but will end the quest without any waiting, and would be the “neutral” option.
This finishes the A Beggar’s Tale side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
