Dragon's Dogma 2 Flickering Shadows Walkthrough

Flickering Shadows is a main quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Flickering Shadows main mission.

Starting Location: The Rockmouse’s Burrow
Requirement: having completed Nation of the Lambent Flame
Reward: 3200XP, 25000G
Quest Description: You have arrived in Bakbattahl seeking answers about the godsway. As you try to find your feet in this unfamiliar land, someone gives you a suggestion of where to begin.

Objectives:

Enter Bakbattahl
Speak with Ambrosius
Seek information about larger blue crystal shards
Seek “he who was dragon-forged” in Harve Village

Starting Location: Flickering Shadows

Enter Bakbattahl

Simply enter Bakbattahl. A small conversation will start once you enter the town.

Speak with Ambrosius

For this, you have to go to the coastline east of Bakbattahl. Follow the marker.

There you will find some small purple crystal shards in the, pick them up.

A fight against harpies will start, defeat them all, and talk to Ambrosius who will appear. If a Griffin miniboss shows up along the way you can try to run away from it or fight it.

Seek information about larger blue crystal shards

After talking to Ambrosius, you have to gather information about large purple crystal shards. Follow the quest maker to the north to find the Dragonforged:

Talk to him and select the following answer:

The Dragonforged is also where you upgrade your gear to the maximum level for Dragon Forged. To upgrade gear you need Wyrmlife Crystals that are dropped by Dragons, but you don’t need to worry about this for now.

Proceed to the second quest marker to the shrine northwest of Bakbattahl and talk to Luz. You can either run there, or use the Oxcart Station in Bakbattahl, then pay the driver 200 Gold to have him drive you to Checkpoint Rest Town. From there it’s a shorter distance to go on foot, however the Oxcart might get attacked halfway through the journey which would be advantageous in this case as it puts you closer to the quest marker. How you get there is up to you, a side path to the east off the main path leads to Luz.

Talk to Luz also unlocks the Trickster vocation (equipping this Vocation at a guild hall unlocks Trickster of the Trade).

Seek “he who was dragon-forged” in Harve Village

Now go to the Harve Village and talk to the Rivage Elder. If you have already discovered the Portcrystal there, you can use a Ferrystone to fast travel there immediately, which is a big time-saver. Alternatively, use the Oxcart at Checkpoint Rest Town to Vernworth, then walk from Vernworth to Harve Village (if the Oxcart gets attacked on the way it might put you even closer to Harve Village).

In the very south of Harve Village by the water you can find the Elder. If he refuses to talk you must rest on the bench outside his hut and try at different times. Inside his hut is also a Seeker Token in the left corner.
