In Dragon’s Dogma 2 you must find A Place with Plenty of Tomes for The Caged Magistrate main quest. It is needed to get Magistrate Waldhar out of his cell. It is one of the trickiest objectives in the early game as it’s completely unmarked and doesn’t provide you with a quest marker. It’s an underground library beneath the broken tower in the Slums, but the entrance is sealed and requires some extra steps.
You can get a clue for the location by talking to the quest giver Captain Brant but that’s optional.
A Place with Plenty of Tomes Location
Step 1: Go to the Slums in the east of Vernworth. Talk to Kendrick, the man standing in front of The Gracious Hand building. He’s asking for donations, you have to give him a piece of food + 1000 Gold.
Step 2: Doing so triggers another quest “The Heel of History“. Completing it will lead to the Place with Plenty of Tomes. We’ll go through it step by step below.
Step 3: First, you must talk to the 3 children to get Malcolm’s location (the missing boy).
One is kneeling on the side of the path opposite The Gracious Hand building.
One is slightly east of The Gracious Hand building on the lookout platform over the ocean.
The third is inside The Gracious Hand building, in the lobby where you enter.
Step 4: After talking to all three children, talk to Kendrick again. He’ll be walking up and down the path in the Slums outside The Gracious Hand building.
Step 5: Follow Kendrick to the broken tower directly west of The Gracious Hand Building, he will blow up the rubble that’s blocking the entrance. Head inside and follow the dungeon all the way to the end to find A Place with Plenty of Tomes. It’s a library filled with books.
Step 6: Now backtrack to the Magistrate in his prison cell and lead him out of the prison, he will then go to the Place with Plenty Tomes. Now you can finish the quest by talking to Captain Brant at the Stardrop Inn.
