Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth How to Unlock Chocobo in Gongaga

In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth each region has its own unique Chocobo variant. These must be unlocked through different methods in every region. This guide explains how to unlock the Chocobo in Gongaga region.

Gongaga Chocobo

Chocobo in Gongaga region is unlocked automatically from the story, in Chapter 9 after defeating the boss “Specimen H1024”. This can’t be missed. Afterward you automatically spawn on the chocobo. Note that the full regions isn’t explorable until later, until you defeat the next main boss.

Gongaga Chocobos are colored green. Their special ability is to jump from mushrooms and grind on long roots.
