No Sudden Moves is the 10th main mission in Starfield. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the No Sudden Moves main quest.

- Quest Description: I need to retrieve an Artifact from Captain Petrov, who owns a salvage ship called the Scow. Vladimir suggested I might have to steal the Artifact.

Talk to Vladimir
Vladimir has a new Artifact for you to find while they work more on the station.
Travel to the Scow
You and Barrett are traveling to the Scow, a collector ship in the Procyon A system.
Board the Scow
In the vicinity, you need to determine how you’re going to board the ship. You technically have multiple ways to go about completing this mission, but they basically boil down to whether you attack everyone to complete the mission or try to be peaceful as long as possible. If you start attacking the Scow right from outside you’ll still need to take the same route through the ship, so this will show the route and method for how to stay peaceful.
Target the ship and hail it from up close. Here you have the option of immediately attacking, or you can initiate a Persuasion check to talk your way in. If you attack them you need to disable the engines to stop the ship, allowing you to dock.
Find Captain Petrov
If you successfully talked your way in, dock with the ship and enter. On the way in you’ll be stopped by Tao Xun, who you can respond to however you like or just end the conversation and walk past him.
Make your way towards the back of the ship, following the route shown by your scanner if you get lost. Note that all items in the ship will count as stolen if you pick them up, so be careful if you want to do that while staying peaceful with the Scow crew. When you reach the back of the ship you’ll find Captain Petrov, with another set of doors behind him. If you were doing this violently, you’d head back through those doors, unlocking them with a key you either take from Petrov or find in the room to the left in the hallway.
Speak to Petrov, and here you can initiate another Persuasion check to convince him to show you his collection of items. Alternatively, you can have Barrett speak to him directly to accomplish the same thing.
Follow Petrov
After convincing Petrov to show you around, follow him back through the doors behind his chair. He’ll lead you down into a locked vault (which is what you need the key for if you’re being violent) and into the room with the Artifact.
Steal the Artifact
Petrov leads you into the vault and opens the case on the Artifact. You can keep talking to him if you want, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to talk him into giving it to you no matter what you offer, so you’re going to need to grab the Artifact first on your own, through dialogue, or just attack him. Note that no matter what you do picking up the Artifact will give you 500 UC bounty.
Now to get out of the Scow, if you’ve already been attacking everyone you can just make your way back out. If you’ve been peaceful up until now the easiest way to get out of the Scow is to shoot Petrov to deplete his health which will drop him onto the ground. Speak with him and he offers to surrender, and you can tell him to call off his crew, stopping them from attacking you and allowing you to just walk back out of the ship.
Leave the Scow
Whatever method you’re doing, make your way back out to your ship (remember you can follow the Scanner path if you get lost).
Add the Artifact to the collection
With Artifact in hand, you’ll need to head back to the Lodge to complete the mission. Note that because of the bounty you received from picking up the Artifact you will be stopped when entering Alpha Centauri by the UC unless you fast travel DIRECTLY to the Lodge. They take you in (unless you fight them, which isn’t advised) and will take all of your currently stolen items (aside from the Artifact) so be careful if you want to avoid this or have a bunch of stolen items from the Scow. If you avoid them by going directly to the Lodge you can then clear your bounty using a Bounty Board in New Atlantis.
