Apocalypse is the highest difficulty in Remnant 2. It is unlocked after playing through the Campaign mode at least once. However, there is one build that makes you nearly invincible, making Apocalypse significantly easier. Here’s everything you need for this build and how to use it.
Requirements
- Engineer with the Vulcan skill: if you own it, first equip the Hex Ward ring to completely negate any Curse damage. Otherwise, stock up on any Curse-resistant concoctions. For this Archetype, you need an item called Alien Device which is hidden somewhere within the confines of N’Erud, either in The Eon Vault or The Timeless Horizon, both of which are located beyond the Titan’s Reach World Stone in N’Erud. To find the item, you need to look for a platform that extends beyond the map’s boundaries which is surrounded by sharp rock formations. At the end of this platform you will then have to drop down to find the time. The best way to find this item is to use the Explorer’s Fortune Hunter skill which highlights key items in purple. Trade the item in at Wallace’s to unlock this Archetype. Your second Archetype doesn’t really matter.
- Armor: your Armor doesn’t matter as this build is all based on damage reduction and grey health sustainability, so pick what you like best.
- Reprocessed Heart: Root Earth > Ashen Wasteland checkpoint. This can only be obtained in Campaign Mode as Root Earth is not playable in Adventure Mode. Can be found in an underground area near the Ashen Wasteland checkpoint. You’ll have to drop down a hole in the floor to find it. This is the heart and soul of this build. In order for this work, start a new Campaign mode in Apocalypse difficulty and then buy and slot in one Mythic Skill Cooldown, one Mythic Damage Reduction and one Mythic Skill Damage. Additionally, you want to have a maxed-out supply of Relic uses (10). The more you have, the higher the likelihood of surviving.
- Effigy Pendant: Losomn > Cotton’s Kiln or Butcher’s Quarter. In the area, look for a secret passage behind some wooden beams. Unfortunately, the secret passage doesn’t always spawn, so you might have to reroll. Continue down the secret passage until you can find an orange item, the Wooden Box. Inspect it in your Inventory and open it to get this Amulet.
- Amber Moonstone: sold by Cass at Ward 13.
- Hardened Coil: random drop or enemy drop in Yaesha > Imperial Gardens / Forgotten Field
- Rusted Heirloom: Losomn > The Great Sewers / Harvester’s Reach. Found behind a secret opening in either area. The opening doesn’t always spawn, so you might have to reroll. Behind the opening, complete the Safe Event by inputting one of these combinations: 3581, 5813, 8531.
- Restriction Cord: Yaesha > Forbidden Grove. Can be bought from Bedel of the Vaunnt at the start of the Forbidden Grove.
- Weapons and Mutators: these don’t matter as, believe it or not, you won’t be using your weapons at all for this build.
How to Use the Build
- Before combat, consume a Relic.
- Now press and hold to man the Vulcan turret and activate its infinite ammo. This is where you become sort of invincible: as long as you hold the Vulcan in your hands or you’re within 20 meters of its location, your damage is reduced by 130%, making you immune to all sort of attacks.
- When the infinite ammo of the Vulcan goes back to its 45 second cooldown, use the Vulcan itself as a melee weapon. You don’t want to use the ammo reserves of the Vulcan because if you run out, the Vulcan will disappear from your hands, making you mortal.
- Keep an eye out on your health. If your health is one quarter red, place the Vulcan on the ground and consume another Relic. Remember the damage reduction is entirely based on how much grey health you have.
You can blast through Apocalypse difficulty in less than 3 hours using this build. The only issue you will face is during the second phase against Annihilation. During this phase, he will constantly warp you across both arenas. If you place the Vulcan down to consume a Relic and then he warps you to the opposite arena, you will be killed instantly. However, this can be prevented by recharging your gray health the moment you spawn in the other arena.
