In Kingdom Come: Deliverance you have a character main level, stats and skills that can all be leveled up. This guide explains how each skill can be increased.
Basically, you must use a skill actively to gain XP for it. So using a specific weapon will increase the combat proficiency for that weapon, or collecting herbs increases the herbalism skill. You don’t earn XP for quest completion. Learning by doing, is how it works.
How to Level Up Main Level:
The Main Level is determined by the value of all your other stats. Leveling up one stat gives you XP towards the main level. It’s like an “average” value derived from all your stats. Game progression also yields some main level XP. So by just doing main quests you can level up, too.
Stats:
- Strength: leveled up by combat. Fighting with any melee weapon increases this.
- Agility: leveled up by archery. Hitting / killing enemies with arrows gives Agility XP. Also from dodging in combat and using sabres / short swords.
- Vitality: leveled up by running, climbing obstacles and surviving combat encounters. In theory you could rubber-band your controller sticks and just run in circles.
- Speech: leveled up by talking to people and successful persuasions. Every new line of dialogue (white) counts, but greyed-out dialogues don’t increase it.
- Charisma: Determined by your visible clothing (underclothing doesn’t count). Wear expensive ornaments and high-quality clothing to increase this.
- Visibility: Determined by your clothing. Also affected by light/darkness and how close you are to people. The lower this value, the better. Dark clothing is good, brightly colored armor isn’t.
- Conspicuousness: Determined by your clothing. This value is similar to Visibility. It affects if people will look twice when they see you sneaking around.
- Noise: Determined by your clothing. Heavy armor makes more noise, soft clothing is better.
- Speed: Determined by your Agility stat as well as clothing. Heavy armor can lower this value.
- Health: Health is fixed at 100, you cannot level it up. You can only refill it (eat food, sleep in bed, go to bathhouse).
- Stamina: Stamina is fixed at 125, you cannot level it up. However, it will be affected by your current health, tiredness, hunger and whether you are overeating, drunk or poisoned.
- Energy: Energy is fixed at 100, you cannot level it up. However, it will decrease over time but can be replenished by sleeping in a bed or going to a bathhouse.
- Nourishment: Nourishment is fixed at 120 maximum. Anything above 100 counts as overeating and can have negative effects. You cannot level this up but it can be replenished by eating food or drinking something.
Combat Skills:
- Defence: leveled up by blocking/countering in combat.
- Warfare: leveled up from combat.
- Axe: leveled up by using Axe weapon in combat. Even just hitting enemies increases this, killing them with it increases it even more.
- Bow: leveled up by hitting/killing enemies with arrows.
- Mace: leveled up by using Mace weapon in combat. Even just hitting enemies increases this, killing them with it increases it even more.
- Sword: leveled up by using Sword weapon in combat. Even just hitting enemies increases this, killing them with it increases it even more.
- Unarmed: leveled up by using no weapon (fists only) in combat.
Skills:
- Alchemy: leveled up by brewing potions at alchemy benches. You can buy recipes from apothecary shops.
- Drinking: leveled up by drinking alcohol.
- Herbalism: leveled up by gathering herbs.
- Horsemanship: leveled up by riding the horse.
- Hunting: leveled up by killing animals (hares, deer etc.). Even killing town animals such as dogs can increase this.
- Lockpicking: leveled up by picking locks.
- Maintenance: leveled up by repairing armor with armor kits or weapons with grindstones.
- Pickpocketing: leveled up by picking people’s pockets. You unlock this skill by doing the side quest “The Good Thief“.
- Reading: leveled up by reading books. First you must learn how to read by doing side quest “Mightier than the Sword”.
- Stealth: leveled up by moving stealthily in the vicinity of enemies and performing stealth takedowns from behind.

Great guide, keep it up if you find any other hacks to level these. Thanks!

Agility is also leveled by performing dodges in combat and using weapons which are governed by agility (short-swords and sabers)

Thank you, will add it in 🙂

Strength can be leveled up using the herbalism perk (think it’s called leg day).

The best way I have found to level “Bow” which inherently levels Agility is to do Vasheks archery range quest in Ledechko.
You shoot 20 times at logs. It’s virtually impossible to not come in first place. (Unequip bow to get aim reticle dot in place then pull out bow for 20 shots.)
Bow-masters Brew helps when at sub 5-10 bowskill but is unnecessary after that point I find. That being said you can complete 3 entire runs on one brew.
This comes in unbelievably handy for getting 50 headshots on enemies for Sniper Trophy.

You can also improve your aim by using a tiny bead of yellow (or other high-visibility color) Sticky Tack to mark where on your screen the aiming reticule is, however, be sure to double-check frequently because I’ve noticed that after marking where my reticule is, the actual reticule tends to migrate a small amount after cutscenes and various other activities. I’m not sure if this is an accidental thing or if the devs programmed it on purpose to try and curb the use of built-in screen reticules and/or creative use of Sticky Tack.
When the reticule does move, it only moves by a tiny bit, but it’s enough that you’d want to adjust before attempting, for example, archery with any sort of distance where precision ‘really’ matters.

Or, this… console command if you’re on PC.

Using a bow and arrow accurately is especially tricky in KCD due to the lack of a crosshair. This command adds an aiming reticle anytime you use a bow. To turn it back off, replace the 1 with a 0. You will have to put your bow away and then take it out again to see the changes on-screen.

I found amazing way to level lockpicking.
Just head over to the bath house by the ratty mill. At night time.
First pick/unlock the door by the stairs open it then head up to the second floor picklock that door open it. Then walk on the person thats sleeping there behind the door to wake her. Run downstairs and wait a few second she will come out. Locking the door then will come downstairs and lock that door on the main level. Once she goes inside just picklock the main door then head upstairs and picklock that door. Once you get back down she will be coming out already and will lock the doors again and head to bed. Just repeat the above an can do this for ever and not get caught.
