- Return to Purah in Lookout Landing
Starting Location: Regional Phenomena
This quest starts automatically during Main Quest Crisis at Hyrule Castle, after using the first Skyview Tower to synchronize the map. You must complete the Regional Phenomena quest before you continue with the main story.
For the purpose of this walkthrough we will visit the objectives in the following order: Hebra (northwest) > Eldin (northeast) > Lanayru (east) > Gerudo (southwest).
Go to Hebra (Northwest)
Head northeast to the quest marker. Here’s a map showing the path outlined in red:
We’ll go through it step by step below, there are some obstacles along the way.
Step 1: Go northeast to Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower. It’s surrounded by water. Directly south of it are some wooden planks you can stick together to create a wooden bridge. Place it over the water and it will float. Then jump from your created bridge onto the rock wall and climb up. Starting the climb with full stamina is essential to reach the top. Activate the tower to unfog the map.
Step 2: After being catapulted up the skyview tower, fly north over the big gap/canyon. Land on the other side (north) in the snowy region. The best method is to use the glider ( ) until you are at 25% stamina, then free fall and hold to fly forward, as you get close to the snowy region glide again to use your last 25% stamina to land safely. It’s a long flight but it’s doable. If you don’t make it you can fast travel back to the skyview tower to retry. Note that this area is freezing cold so it’s good to equip armor with cold resistance beforehand or bring some cooked peppers or fire sources (such as flint, wood, torches) for cold resistance. More on this in the next step.
Step 3: In the snowy region watch the temperature meter in the bottom right, next to your minimap. As long as it stays above the blue level you won’t take damage. If you picked up the Archaic Warm Greaves during Main Quest: The Closed Door, or own any other armor with Cold Resistance, equip it now! This should be enough to protect you from taking cold damage. If you don’t have gear with Cold Resistance, then you can cook Peppers (i.e. found on Skyview Island at Pit Cave entrance, can fast travel back there) to make a meal that protects you from cold. Or drop flint and wood, then attack the flint to make a campfire, use a torch (melee weapon) on it that will keep you warm as you move. You can also combine Fire Fruit with certain items like Arrows to make fire. Now head west until you reach Lucky Glover Gazette. You can talk to the guy inside to start Side Quest: Potential Princess Sightings. For now ignore this quest and proceed to the next step.
Step 4: In the west corner of Lucky Glover Gazette (outside), there’s a Campfire. Select a Hylian Pine Cone from inventory and drop it into the fire. If you don’t already have one they are scattered all over the place, usually under trees, or you can fell trees with an axe to get them. Combining the Pine Cone with campfire creates a gust of air. Use your paraglider over it to fly across the broken bridge (press to jump and again to open paraglider over fire).
Step 5: Follow the path behind the broken bridge to reach Rito Village in the middle of Lake Totori. Go upstairs to reach the quest marker and talk to Tulin and Teba.
This will start a new Main Quest Tulin of Rito Village. Before you do this quest it’s highly recommended you complete the shrine here, see Gatakis Shrine Walkthrough. This creates a permanent fast travel point in Rito Village.
Hebra – Finish Main Quest: Tulin of Rito Village
See Tulin of Rito Village Walkthrough. After finishing it, continue here.
Go to Eldin (Northeast)
After finishing the main quest in Rito Village, your next stop is Eldin in the northeast.
Here’s a map showing the best path in red, then we’ll go through it step by step:
Step 1: Go to Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower in the south of Eldin. Take the not-so-steep slope up the mountain. There’s a guy in front of the skyview tower, he says it’s locked but some rubble fell on the tower that opened the roof. Look at the sky east of the tower for falling debris. Go to where the debris lands, stand on it, cast Recall ability to raise it back up, then jump off it ot glide to the top of the tower. You can drop through the hole in the tower, open the glider to not take falling damage, then interact with the switch and use the launchpad. This unfogs the Eldin region map.
Step 2: From the Skyview Tower you can fly north towards the questmarker. Land on the main road and follow it north to Goron City. Talk to the old turtle guy in the town square.
This starts Main Quest: Yunobo of Goron City. You must do this quest now to advance the story.
Finish Main Quest: Yunobo of Goron City
See Yunobo of Goron City Walkthrough. After finishing this questline, continue here.
Go to Lanayru (East)
Our next stop is Lanayru, which is the questmarker in the east of the map. The map below shows the recommended path:
Step 1: Fast travel to Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower. If you followed the order here you unlocked it on the way to Eldin. Launch yourself up, then fly towards the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower in Lanyru. It’s too far to make it all the way, but you will be able to cover most of the distance in one glide. Then climb up the mountain walls until you reach the tower. The door is blocked by goo, to remove it pick up Splash Fruits from the small trees around the tower, place these on the floor near the goo and melee it. This will release water that washes away the goo.
Step 2: Launch from Upland Zorana Skyview Tower and fly over to Zora’s Domain. Talk to the 3 characters in the middle of the town square.
Now Main Quest: The Sludge-Covered Statue begins.
Finish Main Quest: The Sludge-Covered Statue & Sidon Questline
You must now finish the mainquestline in this region to help Sidon. This consists of the following quests: The Sludge-Covered Statue > Sidon of the Zora (Part 1) > The Broken Slate > Clues to the Sky > Restoring the Zora Armor > Sidon of the Zora (Part 2).
After finishing those quests, continue here.
Go to Gerudo (Southwest)
After finishing the quest in Eldin, your next stop is Gerudo in the southwest. Head for the questmarker, the path is outlined below and we’ll go through it step by step.
This is a hot desert area. It is highly recommended you go there at night. Bring a bunch of Wood and Flint to make campfires along the way, this allows you to skip the time to night, then the desert will be colder and you don’t take any heat damage.
Step 1: From Lookout Landing, head southeast. It helps if you activate the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower to reveal the map. Keep heading towards the mountains, you should come by a Mini Stable and then what looks like a mining camp (called Gerudo Canyon Pass). There will be ladders leading up the hill. After climbing the last ladder you must climb the last part up the wall by hand.
Step 2: Look for the lights of the Skyview Tower. Head there. It’s the only tall tower so it’s easy to see. It requires a bunch more climbing. Remember if it’s day you will take heat damage, so make a campfire (drop Wood + Flint, hit Flint) and rest until nightfall. Then the heat is gone. Activate the tower to unfog the map – see Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower Walkthrough.
Step 3: From the Skyview Tower, paraglide downhill to a shrine at an oasis. Activate the Shrine (Mayatat Shrine) to unlock it as a fast travel point. Then jump into the whirlwind near it to be lifted up and glide towards the next Shrine on a hill in the middle of a sandstorm.
Step 4: Go through the sandstorm to where you see the shrine on top of a rock. That’s your destination Gerudo Town. Inside the sandstorm your map gets scrambled and visibility is poor. There aren’t many reference points here so just keep heading in the rough direction of where you spotted the Shrine on the rock earlier. Throughout the sandstorm are whirlwinds, always use these to glide up, this pushes you above the sandstorm so you have better visibility of the Shrine in the distance. When you arrive at Gerudo Town it’s highly recommended you climb up the rock to activate the shrine, thus unlocking it as a permanent fast travel point (Soryotanog Shrine).
Step 5: In Gerudo Town, you have to drop into the well on the left side of the courtyard (to the left of the staircase). Then swim up the river and use Ascend ability to teleport through the ceiling into the palace. There you meet the people of Gerudo Town, a cutscene will trigger and the next main quest starts.
Now you must do Main Quest: Riju of Gerudo Town before you can advance the story.
Finish Main Quest: Riju of Gerudo Town
See Riju of Gerudo Town Walkthrough. After finishing it, continue here.
Return to Purah in Lookout Landing
After clearing all 4 Main Questlines, return to Purah in Lookout Landing. She will be on top of the research tower, climb up the ladder to reach her.
This finishes Regional Phenomena Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
