This walkthrough for Chapter 3 in Resident Evil 4 Remake will guide you through all objectives. This also includes Collectibles, Trophies and Key Items.
For other Chapters see Resident Evil 4 Remake Walkthrough.
Objectives:
- Head for the church
- Cross the lake
- Defeat the lake monster
Head for the church
At the start of the chapter you’ll still be in the upstairs room of the house, and can now make your way to the church now that you have the Insignia Key. Head downstairs and you can now go out the front door. Before progressing, go back around the side of the house where you can find a dog that’s been caught in one of the bear traps. Interact with it to release it.
You can now head to the gate opposite the house and use the Insignia Key to unlock it, opening a path back to the “Village Square”.
Treasure: Vintage Compass
Before progressing further you should go into the second building on the left where there was a locked drawer. You can use the Small Key you picked up at the end of Chapter 2 to open this now, obtaining a Vintage Compass.
As you attempt to walk toward the building at the end of the area the tower will fall over blocking the main path. A number of dog enemies named Colmillos will also appear to attack you. These can be dealt with in a similar way to Villagers in that shooting them in the head deals more damage and will sometimes stun them.
To reach the objective you’ll need to head through the last house on the right, allowing you to go around the destroyed tower. You can then use the Insignia Key on the door to proceed.
Treasure: Velvet Blue
Inside the town hall, look up to the ceiling in the section half of the larger room to spot a metal cage. Shoot it down to obtain a Velvet Blue.
Merchant Request: Viper Hunter
Head out the other side of the Town Hall to find the next Merchant. On the wall just past him you can find this next request, where you need to sell 3 x Vipers to him. You may have found one in the prior room, but they randomly appear when breaking boxes or barrels, then can be attacked and picked up to keep in your inventory, then used as healing items. For this just make sure to hold on to them if you pick any up until you sell 3 total.
Follow the path ahead to reach the graveyard in front of the Church.
Merchant Request: Grave Robber
On your way through the Graveyard you can complete a Merchant request early if you like. Right in the middle of the graveyard, there are two gravestones with matching emblems. Destroy both with shooting or melee to complete the request.
You can then head to the top of the graveyard and go through the gate to reach the area around the church. After the scene, take the path around the right side of the church around the back.
Treasure: Elegant Headdress
Around the back, there will be a chest that contains an Elegant Headdress. You can also find the pickup for Merchant Request: Grave Robber if you didn’t already destroy the symbols on your way up.
You then want to go through the door you passed on the way around the church to find a save room. Interact with the map on the wall to update your objective then interact with the hatch on the floor to continue.
Cross the lake
Follow the path past the church to a number of platforms. This will be the first time you encounter enemies with molotovs. Like dynamite, you can shoot them out of enemies’ hands to damage them, though they won’t immediately kill enemies that are damaged by them as the fire takes a while to work.
Viper 1 (for “Viper Hunter” Merchant Request)
Inside the building the first enemy is standing on you can find a box on a table.
Break this box and you are very likely to find a Viper. Kill it with your knife or by shooting it, then pick it up so that you can sell later.
Merchant Request: Destroy the Blue Medallions 2
Follow the platforms and the path after until you reach the Quarry area. Immediately on the left just past the huge hammer, you can find this request stuck on the wall. Pick it up to reveal the locations of the next 5 Blue Medallions in the two areas ahead that you can shoot this chapter.
Trophy: Shield Your Eyes
Right after picking up the Request, there will be crows on the ground in the area ahead. Before running into the area take out a Flash Grenade and throw it towards the group of crows to kill most of them, earning the trophy/achievement Shield Your Eyes . There are a couple of other places this can be done, but this is the easiest location and is recommended in most playthroughs due to how much stuff the crows drop here.
Treasure: Ruby
Deal with the couple of Colmillos that will be alerted after the Flash Grenade, then you can then move into the main area and look directly up to spot a metal cage hanging from above. Shoot it to obtain a Ruby.
Blue Medallion 1
Left of where the metal cage was hanging you can spot the first medallion hanging from the scaffolds slightly farther away.
Shooting Gallery – Trophy: Amateur Shooter
Follow the path ahead until you enter another building to find the next Merchant. Here you can also find your first Shooting Gallery. These are sets of shooting challenges where you can win coins that are used to obtain charms, which give bonuses when attached to your attache case. You gain access to 3 new galleries in each of the first 4 instances, so here you are only able to complete the first 3 and can earn the trophy/achievement Amateur Shooter for completing one the first time.
Castellan 3
Back in the Merchant area drop down to the lower level to the east. Walk around the platform toward the water where you can find the Castellan for this chapter through a gap between an overhang and some boxes.
Key Item: Hexagon Piece A
Climb back up to where the Merchant was located and take care of any business you need, then before continuing out the door opposite pick up the Hexagon Piece A from the chest immediately opposite the Merchant.
Blue Medallion 2
Continue out the door opposite the Merchant to reach the edge of the lake. Drop down to the lower level and look under the dock for where you can spot the next medallion.
There’s a boat at the nearby dock, but you need fuel to start it. You want to climb up the ladder to the left which leads to the Fish Farm area.
When you enter the Fish Farm you’ll get dropped down to the lowest level automatically. Continue forward and a number of enemies will start appearing, most notably a Hammer Brute. There are some tripwires around this area you can use if needed, but this is an easy spot to use some grenades and your shotgun if you have them to clean the Brute up quickly.
Blue Medallion 3
Follow the path and climb up the first raised area where there is a small hut, with a medallion hanging inside.
Viper 2-3 (for “Viper Hunter” Merchant Request)
You can also find a total of 3 vipers in the same place as the previous Medallion, usually on the path before the hut. Listen to their hissing sound. Shoot them, collect them, and remember to sell them to the merchant later to complete this request from earlier. A total of 3 vipers is all you need, with the one from earlier you should have more than needed now.
Watch for the enemies that appear around the area as you progress. There are some that will appear from behind you as you’re walking farther into the Fish Farm, even if you’ve cleared everything other beforehand.
Blue Medallion 4
Follow the water and just past the tall tower on the left you can look through a gap in the wooden wall to spot the next medallion.
Treasure: Antique Pipe
You then want to follow the water around to the north side of the platforms where you can find a metal cage hanging from the side. Shoot it down to obtain an Antique Pipe.
Blue Medallion 5, Key Item: Hexagon Piece B
You then want to follow the wooden platform to the end, which drops you into the area past the wooden fence. Walk through the area underneath the platform leading to the north, where you can find the final medallion in the area, along with a chest containing Hexagon Piece B.
Key Item: Small Key
Head towards the objective, but first, go into the small building to the left. Inside the drawer in here you can pick up a Small Key.
Key Item: Boat Fuel
Break the lock on the next building to get inside, then pick up the Boat Fuel.
You then need to make your way back through the area to get back to the dock. First, climb up the ladder to the right to reach the upper platform which gets you back to the previous part of the Fish Farm.
Follow the path to the end to jump back down, then head up the first wooden platform in the area where there is another ladder that lets you reach the entrance. Watch out for the enemies that start spawning in on your way back, which you can fight or just run around and ignore.
Treasure: Brass Pocket Watch
Don’t head back to the boat yet, instead go back to the Merchant room and drop below again. In the back corner you can find a locked drawer where you can use the Small Key you just picked up, obtaining a Brass Pocket Watch.
Finish Merchant Request: Viper Hunt
Remember to also speak to the Merchant again and sell the Vipers in your inventory to take care of that request.
Once you’re done at the Merchant head back out to the dock and interact with the boat, using the Boat Fuel to head out on the lake.
Defeat the lake monster
On the boat, you’re now being dragged around by Del Lago. While on the boat you can steer with to avoid objects in the water, then hold to ready harpoons and press to throw them. You can damage the monster when it’s out of the water, so you should be throwing as often as you can when being dragged around. After a while the monster will stop pulling you and go underwater. You then need to watch for when it reappears where it will be rushing towards you. Ready a harpoon and then throw it into its mouth when it gets near to stop it from damaging you. It will then start pulling you around again and you basically repeat this until it is defeated, completing the chapter.
This finishes Chapter 3 in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
