In Hogwarts Legacy you need money to buy ingredients, recipes, collectibles such as conjurations, brooms, broom upgrades, and some other things. There is little money lying around and some items are quite costly. This guide explains the best ways to make money fast.

Fastest Money Farming Method in Hogwarts Legacy

The best way to farm money repeatedly is to catch beasts and sell them for a profit at Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade. You get 120 gold per beast. First you need some story progress to do this.

1. Finish Main Quest #28: The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and the Loom. This is about halfway through the story. It unlocks an item called the “Nab-Sack” that allows you to catch beasts.
2. Go to Beast Hunting Spots, marked on the world map, and catch all beasts. Fast travel to the next Beast Hunting Spot and do this until your inventory is full. There are usually 4 Beasts per spot. 4 x 120 gold = 480 gold per spot. Including travel time this takes about 1 minute per spot. 3. Sell the full inventory of beasts at Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade. You always get 120 money per beast. It doesn’t matter which beasts you farm, they all give exactly 120 money.
   
4. Advance time 3 times. You do this by opening the map and clicking the “Wait” button shown in the bottom right corner (R3 on PlayStation / Right Stick on Xbox). This will respawn all beasts. If not you need to fast travel to the other end of the map and wait a few more times.
5. Repeat steps 2 & 3. If you go for beast hunting spots near fast travel points you can get up to 2000 money in about 5 minutes. Additonally, you can make it even faster by breeding beasts in the Vivarium, which becomes available after completing two side quests for Deek in the Room of Requirement (“The Plight of the House-Elf” > “Foal of the Dead“). You are automatically taught how to breed beasts in Foal of the Dead.

Other Ways to Make Money in Hogwarts Legacy

One of the main ways to make money is to sell gear you no longer need. You can still use the design of sold gear on newer gear by scrolling over it in the gear menu and clicking “Change Appearance”. Hence there is no downside to selling old gear as you can carry over the design to your new items. Depending on the rarity, most gear gives between 60-200 money. Gear is found in chests and dropped by enemies. You can sell gear at any vendor in Hogsmeade. This will give you a couple thousand gold passively as you play through the game. However, it’s more of an extra and not a reliable quick method.
