Introduction
Welcome to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Dawn of Ragnarok DLC Trophy Guide! This DLC takes you to the mythical realm of Svartalfheim in the biggest Assassin’s Creed expansion yet. The trophies are similar to the game’s other DLC expansions. There’s a trophy for beating the story, one for getting 100% completion in the four new regions (93 Wealth, 31 Mysteries, 55 Artifacts for a total of 179 collectibles) and some miscellaneous trophies. This DLC is a little larger than the previous ones, with a map size of roughly 1.5x Ireland and Paris. You can tackle the trophies in any order you like and nothing is missable.
Step 1: Story
Start by playing through the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC story. It starts in your settlement Ravensthorpe in England. When you enter the game after installing the DLC, you will automatically get a dream-like cutscene and an onscreen prompt about a new quest ‘Restless Dreams’ near Valka’s Hut. The quest waypoint will lead you to it, then you go to the dream world. Complete the storyline for both Aesir Spelunker and Ashes of Svartalfheim.
There is nothing particular to look out for during the story. Feel free to pick up collectibles as you explore the world or save them all for Step 2, it’s up to you. Note that some areas are off-limits or gated until you reach the location in the story.
Step 2: 100% Completion (Wealth, Mysteries, Artifacts)
Like the main game and other DLCs, you need 100% map completion by finding all of the Wealth, Mysteries and Artifacts in the four regions of Svartalfheim. This will earn you Flying Fortress and Over the Hills…
Most of the miscellaneous trophies require you to use items and resources you’ll come across during this step anyway so you’ll mostly be ready for Step 3 if not done already.
Step 3: Miscellaneous Trophies
You should have everything you need for 100% by now. If you haven’t tried out the new Atgeir weapons then equip one and get 30 kills, fully upgrade the Hugr-Rip by farming upgrade resources if necessary, visit the Valkyrie Arena and purify Hreidmar’s Armor.

Over the Hills… Complete all territories of Svartalfheim (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
For this trophy you must complete all Wealth, Mysteries and Artifacts in the four regions of Svartalfheim. You can see your progress for each region on the world map by hovering over it and checking the box in the bottom right corner. You can still revisit all regions after the story.
The following guides show everything region by region and include everything you need: |
||
Ashes of Svartalfheim Complete the Dawn of Ragnarök campaign (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. This is for finishing the story.
Hugr Incarnate Fully upgrade the Hugr-Rip (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
The Hugr-Rip is received early in the DLC during the third story mission ‘Gift to the God’. It allows you to draw essence from defeated enemies with which you can use for five different special powers, such as becoming immune to lava and transforming into a raven to fly. Initially, you can only hold two powers at once, so if you want to use another type you have to kill an enemy who holds that specific power and drain it.
For this trophy, you’ll need to upgrade the Hugr-Rip to maximum. You can upgrade it at any of blacksmiths located in the Shelters around the map (see Aesir Spelunker). You need Silica, Fragments and Muspelheim Embers to upgrade the Hugr-Rip. You gain Silica by raiding the locations denoted by two crossed red axes on the world map and opening the large chests within, in the exact same way that you collected Cargo in the main game. The only difference is that instead of monasteries you are raiding Mylna (Mills) which are buildings connected to giant water wheels located on the game’s rivers. There are 10 in total and you’ll need 60 Silica to fully upgrade the Hugr-Rip. Fragments are more common and are dropped by the various enemies such as the Jotun, Muspels and Giant Ravens located within Svartalfheim. You should gain more than enough for this trophy just by killing the enemies you meet in the story quests and side activities, but if you need more you can always roam around the world map and farm it. The Muspelheim Embers are located on the Muspelheim Monoliths (see Flying Fortress) located around the map. You’ll need the Power of the Raven to get up to them and will need to visit all nine of them and obtain their Ember by looting it. You’ll obtain one Ember automatically (and unlock the blacksmith who provides the upgrades you use them for) by completing the World Event ‘The Ballad of Kraka and Skavi’ in Svaladal. |
||
Expert Storyteller Tell Kára a Tale with at least four Boasts (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
Kára is a Valkyrie who runs an arena in the Svaladal region.
By fighting in various challenges, called Tales, you earn a special currency (Tokens of Kára) which you can use to purchase unique armor and weapons from her. To boost the amount you receive, you can activate various ‘Boasts’ before you begin a Tale, which essentially act as negative modifiers such as giving more enemies health and fighting drunk. To unlock more Boasts, you need to find the Heroic Sagas which are Artifact collectibles. There are 12 in total, and although you only need four for this trophy, you need to collect all 12 anyway for Over the Hills…. For their locations, check the Artifact Locations Guide. |
||
It’s All in the Wrist Kill 30 enemies with an Atgeir (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
Atgeirs are a new type of weapon introduced in the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC. They are polearms and handle similar to spears. You automatically receive one, The Impaler, after the boss fight in the the third story mission ‘Gift to the God’. Simply equip it once you are able to and kill any 30 enemies you encounter.
Aesir Spelunker Discover all Shelters (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed.
Shelters act as the hubs of each region in Dawn of Ragnarok, similar to Ravensthorpe from the main game. Here you can find blacksmiths, shops, stables etc. There are four in total, the first of which you’ll discover as part of an early main story quest and the other three you’ll have to find as part of the ongoing ‘Seeking Shelter’ quest. The Shelters won’t appear on the map automatically, but you do get a rough location and when you approach the area you will discover orange arrows painted on objects in the world such as carts, barrels and rocks. Eventually they’ll lead to an underground cavern you can dive into and find the Shelter. You ultimately need to find the second Shelter in Gullnamar and the Shelters in Svaladal and Vangrinn as part of the main quest anyway, since they are where each region’s individual story arcs begin and end. |
||
Motsognir’s Blessing Purify Hreidmar’s Cursed Armor (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
Hreidmar’s Cursed Armour can be obtained in the Hodda Shelter, located in the Vangrinn region. It is on a stand atop a pedestal in a room adjacent to the blacksmith. However, when you equip any of the armor pieces, they will drain your health and you won’t be able to evade attacks.
To remove the curse, you need to fit each of the five armour pieces with a Motsognir Clarity rune. These can be obtained by finding and completing the five ‘Jotun Blight’ Artifacts dotted around Svartlfheim. For their locations, check the Artifact Locations Guide. Once you equip a rune to an armor piece, it will change from silver to gold and named ‘Blessed’ instead of ‘Cursed’. Do this for all five pieces. |
||
See No Evil Teleport-Assassinate two enemies and fly away without being detected (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
Before you attempt this trophy, you must have both the Power of Jotunheim and the Power of the Raven equipped on your Hugr-Rip. These can be obtained from random Jotun enemies and the Giant Ravens around the map respectively. Secondly, you’ll have to purchase both the Power of Jotunheim upgrade which allows you to Teleport-Assassinate by aiming and firing your bow at an enemy and also the upgrade which gives you two uses of the Hugr-Rip with one charge.
Once done, find two enemies in any location (preferably in a bigger area where you’re unlikely to be seen by others patrolling) and activate the Power of Jotunheim. Teleport-Assassinate one enemy, then quickly do the same to another, then activate the Power of the Raven and fly away out of the detection zone. |
||
Flying Fortress Reach a Muspelheim Monolith (Dawn of Ragnarök) |
||
The Monoliths are the giant rocks covered in lava that are suspended above the world map. To get up to one, you’ll need to use the Hugr-Rip’s Power of the Raven and either upgrade the Power to increase its duration or buy the upgrade which gives you two charges at once otherwise you’ll struggle to fly high enough before it runs out.
You won’t need to reach a Monolith for the main story, but you will for the World Event ‘The Ballad of Kraka and Skavi’ in Svaladal and ultimately all nine of them to get enough Muspelheim Embers to fully upgrade the Hugr-Rip. The best way to find exactly where you are going is to zoom in on the Monolith on the world map and press to set a waymarker on the glowing golden dot which is the Ember. As soon as you set foot on a Monolith, this trophy will pop. You don’t need to collect the Ember. |

So much for that 40 hours of content. I’ll definitely wait for the price drop.
Darth_Krid says
Yeah even if we blast through things quite quickly for guides, I struggle to see how you’d ever get 40 hours out of this!
Death Row says
haha because they count the cinamatic story also as playing time.
Indoorsman says

Hey everyone, fist of all, many thanks for the guide, always perfect !
But, there is a but (there always a but with Ubi games), I fully upgraded the hugr rip and the trophy doesn’t pop… I upgraded all five branchs + the second bar + the 4 embers upgrades but nothing…
Anyone has encountered too this very frustrating issue ?
After near like 180h for the game and all its dlc, I can’t get the 100% because of a trophy bugged is so annoying…
