Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Arceus are essentially the swarms from older games where a specific Pokemon will appear much more frequently in a specific spot on the map.
Mass Outbreaks are good for a couple reasons. One reason is to help fill out your PokeDex page of that specific Pokemon as there will be a lot more of that Pokemon spawning for a period of time making things like catching or battling with specific Pokemon a lot easier and faster. Another good reason for Mass Outbreaks is it has a chance to make Shiny Pokemon appear much more frequently. Here are the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon during Mass Outbreaks:
- Base Chance in Mass Outbreaks: 1 in 157.5
- Mass Outbreak plus having 10 points in the PokeDex for that Pokemon: 1 in 151.7
- Mass Outbreak plus having all 25 points in the PokeDex for that Pokemon: 1 in 141.2
- Mass Outbreak plus having 10 points in the PokeDex for that Pokemon with the Shiny Charm: 1 in 136.5
- Mass Outbreak plus having all 25 points in the PokeDex for that Pokemon with the Shiny Charm: 1 in 128
To force a Mass Outbreak to occur simply go to Jubilife Village and check your map as soon as you leave the Village to see what Pokemon are on a Mass Outbreak. If it is a Pokemon you want, head to the location on the map, if not head back to Junilife Village and leave again to make another Pokemon Mass Outbreak.
