Starting Location: The Only Way Out

Spend time at the Bazaar while waiting to hear from Hakon

After completing Markers of the Plague, Hakon tells you to head to the Bazaar to wait for him to call you.

Meet the people of the Bazaar

At the Bazaar, you can use Survival Sense :r3: to highlight people of interest in green. Talk to everyone there.

Near the west-entrance of the bazaar, talk to the woman (Lena), the man next to her (Carlos, who gives side quest “The Spark of Invention”), the barkeeper (Urban).

t the center of the bazaar building, talk to the man at the “Dairy and Vegetables Stall” (Julian, must talk to him twice to get his side quest “Cheers!”). Also talk to the man leaning against the wall by the trader merchant (Ahab).

You can also interact with the Trader merchant (white money icon) and the Craftsman merchant (white tools icon).

Head out the west-exit of the bazaar building. On the west wall of the bazaar you can interact with the flyers on the wall. A man called Abraham will come talk to you, go through the dialogues with him, doesn’t matter what you choose.

Now in order to advance the objective “Meet the people at the Bazaar”, you must do the two side quests that you got from the people inside the Bazaar building. Then Hakon will call you back for the next part of the main story. See the Side Quest Walkthroughs below, after doing these continue with the next objective.

  • The Spark of Invention Walkthrough
  • Cheers! Walkthrough

Meet Hakon

Once both side quests are completed, Hakon will automatically call you and ask you to meet him near the main Metro Station.

Get to the station through the metro tunnels

After speaking with Hakon you will wait until nighttime, then need to leave the safezone and move down to the nearby hatch leading into the metro tunnels. (You can sleep in the bed right now if you want and wait until daytime again, you aren’t actually required to do this part at night). Deal with the infected, then pick the lock on the hatch to open it and drop down.

NOTE: If you get attacked by an infected during the hatch opening animation the game can glitch and interrupt you in the middle of the animation. This causes the progression to get stuck, and if you drop into the hole you won’t be able to progress. This can be fixed by restarting the checkpoint and opening the hatch again without being attacked.

Follow the objective through the first rooms, and you will need to jump up into a hole in the wall to the next area.

There will be a number of infected in the room you drop into, you can perform a takedown on the one directly in front of you, then sneak through the door in front of you, though watch out for the awake infected that will walk around in these two rooms.

You’ll then need to keep moving through the metro tunnels to meet with Hakon. You can use Survivor’s Sense to spot where the sleeping infected are and avoid them. You should also watch out for UV Shrooms as you are progressing, as you will likely need to consume some to replenish your Immunity Level as you progress.

You’ll reach a dead-end in the train tunnel, then will need to go back through a side door, picking the lock to get into a hallway to continue forward. In this side hallway there will be sleeping infected along the straight path in front of you, then one awake one that walks back and forth down the right side. You can choose to deal with them how you want and move to the end of the hallway, before moving back out into the train tunnel.

Eventually, you will reach a room with a couple of UV flares in it, and you will talk to Hakon on the radio. When trying the door a new type of infected will spawn in the room that shoots projectiles at you.

Run over and deal with it, along with any other infected that might appear in this room, then go back over and pick the lock on the door to progress further. Jump up into the hole in the wall in the next room, then crawl through the vents until you drop out into a hallway where you are required to pull a cover off another vent.

Open the airlock

After exiting the vent you will be in the main metro station. Follow the objective to the end and interact with the button to open the airlock.

Instead of getting out, Aiden is captured by the Peacekeepers, and you get to have a talk with Aitor.

None of your dialogue choices matter much here, you can choose the white options for some extra information. Aitor wants your help solving the murder of another Peacekeeper that occurred in the Bazaar, and won’t let you through to the Central Loop until then.

Talk to Hakon

After you finish talking with Aitor, head outside of the Peacekeeper base and meet Hakon on the rooftop just across the street.

Find the brass knuckles thief

Aiden relays the info about what occurred to Hakon, and suggests you try searching for a fence named Hubert Kerbatsos to find info about the brass knuckles.

Find Hubert Kerbatsos

Head to the nearby “Oak” Windmill, and interact with the man crouching on the second level up.

You’ll sit down and wait for time to pass, before automatically speaking to another man who appears.

Catch Hubert

Hubert starts running away, and you need to chase across the rooftops after him.

You’ll just move to the end of the current set of rooftops before Hubert disappears without being caught.

Climb up to the GRE building roof

Hakon spots him going on top of the GRE building roof, so you need to climb up there to look for him. If you move clockwise around the building there are some chimneys and a broken sign you can use to climb to the top of the GRE building.

Find Hubert

Hubert will be sitting just inside the covered door leading into the GRE quarantine area. Interact with him to question him about why he ran.

Look for Maya

Hubert will tell you about a person named Maya, who was trying to sell him the brass knuckles, but he refused. Follow the objective marker to the building to look for this person. Inside the marked building, you need to find the room with the hole leading up into the ceiling and climb up. There will be a GRE crate in here you can grab, containing 2 Inhibitors.

In the next room, there is also a Graffiti collectible that you can grab.

Graffiti – Lullaby

Turn to the left and interact with the two kids, to find out that one of them is actually Maya. In the dialogue with her you can choose the “Negotiate” option and get away with only paying her 10 to give you the Lazarus, but it doesn’t really matter overall what you do.

Report to Aitor

After obtaining the Lazarus head back and meet Aitor at the metro station. Your dialogue with him here doesn’t matter, you can just get more information from him if you select the extra white dialogue options.

Talk to Hakon

Go back out to the entrance of the base to speak with Hakon. He suggests going to the Bazaar to speak with Sophie, who might know more information.

Question Sophie about Lucas

When you get back to the Bazaar you will automatically speak to Carl, the current defacto leader of the Bazaar. Your dialogue options with him don’t matter, and he doesn’t give much information regardless of what you pick.

When he is done, go speak to the woman standing by the open door in the corner to introduce yourself to Sophie.

Get some work at the Bazaar to earn Sophie’s trust (optional)

This objective may not come up, and what triggers it isn’t known. Sophie might say that she doesn’t trust you yet, and wants you to “get some work” around the Bazaar before she’ll deal with you. You don’t actually need to do any side quests or anything like before though. What you need to do is search around the Bazaar first, using Survivor’s Sense to spot any people who have a green glow around them and interact with them. After checking inside and outside the Bazaar, Sophie will eventually call you back over.

Ask the craftmasters about the crystals

Sophie wants you to go talk to the Craftmasters about the crystals they’re looking for. They can be found inside towards the back of the Bazaar, and are the father/son duo of Alberto and Vincenzo.

They tell you that Sophie’s brother Barney went off on his own to search for the crystals, and give further info about the dark zone they are located in.

Talk to Sophie

Head back over to Sophie again and let her know about what the Craftmasters told you, and you will complete this quest.

This finishes The Only Way Out story quest in Dying Light 2 Stay Human.
