In Dying Light 2 the Binoculars are unlocked during the 3rd Main Story Quest “Markers of Plague”. This happens all automatically as part of the story and cannot be missed. Once unlocked, you can use them by pressing:
- PlayStation: Left + R3
- Xbox: Left + Right Stick
- PC: Item Wheel Button + Survival Sense Button
The Binoculars can be used to mark points of interest in the world. Find a good vantage point high up a building to overlook the surrounding area. If there’s a point of interest nearby, you will see a white square shape that gets smaller the closer you get to aiming at the point of interest. Just look around until the square becomes small and scans the point of interest. Then it gets marked on your world map. Look in all directions until there are no more white square left in the Binoculars view. When it only shows a white dot in the center of the Binoculars view (no more squares), you have marked all points of interest in the direction you’re looking at. As long as there’s a white square on the screen, there’s more for you to spot. Windmills are very good vantage points for this.
