Solar Ash has two different types of collectibles required for trophies: Voidrunner Stashes, and Tarragon Danderpaw’s Lost Journals. Each has a trophy associated with them, and finding all Voidrunner Stashes is required for the 100% completion trophy. These can be picked up basically at any time in each area when you can reach them. None of the Collectibles are missable. They can be cleaned up after the ending in free-roam by reloading your save. This guide will show all locations for both sets of collectibles.
Voidrunner Stashes Collectibles
Voidrunner Stashes are purple tubes with a light on the front, and a blue pillar of light coming out the top. There will also normally be a blue “sigil” (circle with an arrow pointing in a direction around the outside) on the environment nearby, showing you the approximate direction to go. None of the Voidrunner Stashes are missable, they can still be found after the story in free-roam by reloading your save and it will put you back before the final boss. Finding them provides you with background info on the different Voidrunners that Rei came to the Ultravoid with, and finding all Stashes in each set awards you with a new suit to wear, each with its own unique ability.
Finding all Stashes is required for the trophies “Hobbyist ArchaeoJournalist” and “Reliquarian”, and they are required for 100% completion so also for “Rei-gn Supreme”. You can see how many and which Stashes you have found in each area by hovering over the suit icon to the left of the area point on the map screen. A filled-in circle with the Journal means you have picked up that specific Stash already.
Getting all Stashes in the final area, The Luminous Peak, awards you with a suit that highlights the location of uncollected Stashes when you scan with , allowing you to clean them up more easily.
Stashes are numbered in the order they are listed in the map menu, with the first sentence of the Journal listed after the location so you can determine which you have picked up.
Crater
Stash 1 – On a ledge near the middle outer wall of the area, just before one of the paths leading to one of the area’s anomalies. “Breaching event horizon now.”
Broken Capital
Stash 1 – Take an immediate right when you enter the area, and continue past the tree with the sigil on it to find this in the corner of the area. “Lost radio contact.”
Stash 2 – In the second area, go back up the grind rail that leads to Cyd, and grab the grapple point midway up. Climb the ooze on the wall to get to this Stash (you might have seen the sigil for it in the room with Lyris). “I was wrong… Nothing survives this place.”
Stash 3 – In the area with Cyd, go down to the right where there is a large rail with a train car at the top. Follow the rail after the car into an area with some enemies and a wall, which has the Stash behind it. “The best I can tell is that the Ultravoid sucks in planets and pulverizes them, but tiny parts remain, and it almost looks like you’re standing in a real place.”
Stash 4 – When climbing the first area, before entering into the building at the top, you can spot the stash on top of the statue on the right.
You can get onto the statute through the window from the rail room directly beside it “There’s some kinda argument among the others.”
Stash 5 – From the top of the building with the large spikey anomaly, take the grind rail off the side that has the sigil on it.
Follow the path with the grapples to find the Stash. “Now that’s a view. We completed what we set out to do, Darb”
Ironroot Basin
Stash 1 – After climbing up to the building with the “Dross Harvester” (machine with all the pipes) jump down to the rock wall to the right where the sigil is, and follow the path around to near where you entered the area to find this stash. “We shouldn’t even be here.”
Stash 2 – In the area where you break through a barrier to get to an anomaly, just before going up to the left you can see some mines leading to the right. Move past them to find this stash. “This place has seen more than one tragedy.”
Stash 3 – Around the area with the anomaly in the building, go below and you can find a sigil on a wall pointing into an area with a bunch of mines. At the end of this area, you can go into a building with this Stash. “I set up the conduit.”
Stash 4 – Around the left side of the building with the door that requires 3 switches to enter, you encounter spikes that appear on the ground when you move over them with a red damage point at the end to shut them off. Follow the path around the area and deal with the next two spike areas to find this Stash. “I can’t contact anyone from our team.”
Stash 5 – Same building with the “Dross Harvester”, walk around the left side where the sigil is. Follow the edge all the way around the back to find this stash. “What the hell is going on over the radio — is that chanting coming from Pyat?”
Eternal Garden
Stash 1 – From the Cyd activation point, turn around to spot a large cloud pillar. At the top is the building with this Stash. To get inside you need to hit the yellow mushroom beside Cyd, then rush over to this location to open the door while the effect is active. “We spent so much time fearing this void, villainizing it.”
Stash 2 – In the area to the right of Cyd, in the area there will be a large bone sticking out of the ground with the Stash light on top. Climb the ooze on the back to reach it. “These bones… ancient and colossal…”
Stash 3 – In the dark area underground from the central building, when you activate the final yellow rail to go back up, you can jump off to the left to find this Stash. “There is poetry in this place.”
Stash 4 – In the area left of Cyd, follow the path to where you find some blocks with a sigil pointing forward. Follow the path around the back of the building to find this Stash. “This place… this glorious place!”
Stash 5 – In the area to the right of Cyd, you can see this Stash on top of a building near the start of the area.
To get to it, go to the back right where you can find another sigil pointing you towards the row of bones you can use to get to the Stash. “The Beophyte has heeded my wisdom.”
Mirrorsea
Stash 1 – To the right of the central pavilion area after the Cyd point, there is the area at the top of the large cloud pillar. On the “bottom” of this area (there is a light part and a dark part, the “bottom” is the dark part) you can find a breakable wall beside a sigil.
Go through there, then jump up to the left where you find a mushroom rail that leads down to an area with this Stash. “I’ve been in black holes before, but this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”
Stash 2 – Out the right side of the pavilion, go around the large cloud pillar to find a building set in the rock wall. At the back is this Stash. “I’ve spent much of the last days taking detailed notes on the surrounding architecture.”
Stash 3 – While continuing through the area before reaching the Cyd point, you will reach an area with a bunch of white buildings that you use the fungus rails to get between. When going between the two buildings, direct the rail into the building on the left, where there will be another rail you can take up to this Stash. “The conduit is planted.”
Stash 4 – Again on the “bottom” area at the top of the cloud pillar, you will make your way to the anomaly using the mushroom rails. When you reach the final rail leading to the anomaly you can see a sigil directly beside it. Hit the mushroom to set the rail, then take the rail back into the building it goes through to find this Stash. “I’ve lost contact with the team.”
Stash 5 – After destroying the anomaly in the large pavilion, you can see a sigil on the middle structure pointing upwards. Climb up the ooze to the second floor, then jump to the large dangling one in the middle to climb to the rooftop and find this Stash. “The Star ####### functioning.”
Stash 6 – While progressing up the first area to get to the ship, you will reach a point with a sigil on some floating metal pointing left. Take the grapple point going to the left and then grind the rails to reach this Stash (the string of grapples is for getting back). “Finding a ship was a fool’s errand.”
Luminous Peak
Stash 1 – When you reach the actual main area of Luminous Peak and are shown the cutscene with the Remnant, there is a sigil on a rock immediately pointing left. Follow the path around and jump on top of the building to find this Stash. “It seems I’ve drawn the short straw, and I must now traverse these lava flows to find a suitable calibration point for the Starseed conduit.”
Stash 2 – While traveling to the Cyd activation point, you will pass a sigil on a low wall pointing downward. Follow the ooze down the wall to a lower area where you can find this Stash. “I found the most spectacular library, filled with cultural volumes beyond comprehension.”
Stash 3 – While progressing up the walls of the broken building, you can spot a sigil on the right side partway up pointing towards a Stash on another floor of the building. To get it you need to progress slightly further to find the red mushroom, and use it to create a grind rail leading to the Stash. “I’ve run the calculation 100 times, each time hoping for a different result;”
Stash 4 – Once you’ve been through the long area with the floor spikes, you’ll eventually reach a point where there is a Stash obviously off to the right. Before you can grab it you need to follow the path to the back to be able to turn off the floor spikes for this area. “My task is complete.”
Stash 5 – After you progress to the area past the really long grind rail, you will go up a wall and the Stash will be directly in front of you to the left. Before you can grab it though you need to deal with the wall laser enemy off in the distance because it will shoot at you if you try and grab the Stash before it’s dead. You will deal with the turrets in the area while destroying the anomaly, then you can come back to the stash. “The Starseed technoJournaly, the source of all Voidtech, was discovered in a place not unlike this one.”
Stash 6 – In the area leading towards Cyd, there is an area you can go to with an anomaly on top of a large tower. To get up the tower you hit one of the mushrooms that spits out the long rail. At the top, drop back down onto the roof above the mushroom to find this Stash. “Pyat has convinced the rooke that there is a way out of this.”
Lost Journals Collectibles
Tarragon Danderpaw’s lost journals are a specific set of note collectibles that can be found throughout the game. They tell the story of a character named Tarragon Danderpaw as they travel through the Ultravoid. They appear as square pieces of paper with a golden glow around them, normally sitting on rocks along the general path through the level.
None of the Lost Journals are missable, they can still be found after the story in free-roam by reloading your save and it will put you back before the final boss. Finding all journals is required for the trophies “A Veruki’s Tale” and “There and Back Again”. They ARE NOT required for 100% completion, likely because they aren’t actually tracked in the menu like Voidrunner Stashes are. Because of this, there isn’t a way to know which you have found already without keeping track yourself or checking each spot, where ones you have already interacted with won’t have the golden glow around them anymore.
There are a total of 15 lost journals, with a random number throughout each area. In the guide, they will be numbered by the number for that area, listed in the order that largely makes sense with level progression.
Broken Capital
Journal 1 – Near Cyd when you enter the second main area of Broken Capital, sitting on a bench. “The temple priests are saying there are toom many stars in the sky and that we should prepare for famine.”
Journal 2 – In the train station building, once you break the wall that lets you go up the stairs, the journal is up the stairs in one of the side parts before continuing upwards to the area with the black goo. “They came down. The stars came crashing down.”
Journal 3 – Top of the building that is reached with the dual rail grind. “The fires from last night have calmed down, but I’m still worried”
Ironroot Basin
Journal 1 – Where Cyd is located, go up the ramp to the left, then immediately right on a rock beside a bush. “No one could breathe.”
Journal 2 – In the area with the anomaly in the building, go out the left side and up into the other building where this Journal is at the back. “There is a black spot growing in the sky.”
Journal 3 – Following the path after Journal 2, there is another building with an anomaly inside. After destroying it, go out the newly opened door and this Journal in on a rock in the corner to the left. “Endless explosions last night.”
Journal 4 – After going through the first breakable barrier, jump down to the left past the mines to find this Journal on a rock. “Nothing seems to grow any longer.”
Journal 5 – From the front of the round building you hit the 3 switches to get inside, go around to the left to find this note sitting on a rock. “I had horrible dreams last night.”
Eternal Garden
Journal 1 – To the left of the Cyd point is the tower where you can find Ahriic. On the way up there is a note on the left. “I know now that I am no longer on my own world.”
Journal 2 – To the right of Cyd, go past the point where the anomaly in the building was, up the broken building on the left. In the round stone area to the left, you can find this Journal. “For the last fortnight, I have watched a planet grow close and closer to the Ultravoid.”
Mirrorsea
Journal 1 – Immediately when entering Mirrorsea from Ironroot Basin, this is on a dark stone just past the white double archway. “The planet shattered into thousands of tiny pieces.”
Journal 2 – After going through Ames’ ship, you’ll go to the next area and go across some areas of poison water to progress. Before the second pool of poison water with the pillars sticking out, turn around and jump across to the other piece of land to find this Journal beside another pool of water. “I can’t believe it — I found Lyris.”
Journal 3 – Beside the cloud pillar after the Cyd point, there is a raised area where the journal is located. You need to do some funky platforming to reach it, jumping from the ramp closer to the cloud pillar to the lower ledge, up onto the next small lip, around the outer edge to another platform, then up on top. If you’re struggling to make the jump, remember that you can use Timeslip to slow time and position yourself a bit in the air.
On top of this cliff, you can find the journal sitting on some metal. “Seeing this place helps explain what happened to my people.”
Luminous Peak
Journal 1 – While progressing from Ironroot Basin into Luminous Peak, there is a note on the stone wall to the left before you start progressing down. “Another planet grows larger — first, it was a speck, but now I can make out where land and water meet.”
Journal 2 – In the “Crystal Palace” building, this final journal is only accessible by getting to the end of Ahrric’s questline by speaking to all Elders. Once you have, you are tasked with going to the Crystal Palace, where you can find the full journal sitting on the ground beside a body. “I take the rites willingly.”
That’s all of the Collectibles in Solar Ash.
