Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter 1 contains 11 Collectible Locations. This walkthrough will guide you to all collectibles in Chapter 1 in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies and 100% completion is included: Outfits, Guardian Collectibles, Compendium Items, Archives.
All of the Collectibles are missable, the reason being that your progress reverts in Chapter Select to the progress you had when you played the Chapter for the first time (except Outfits which do stay). Finding missing items in Chapter Select doesn’t add them to your save later in the game. In other words, whatever you find through Chapter Select doesn’t get saved and doesn’t count towards trophies & achievements. Because of this it’s recommended to save in a different Manual Slot at the start of every Chapter. If you miss something you can reload the save to replay the Chapter right away. Make sure you save in a different slot each time, because the autosave automatically keeps overwriting the active Save Slot.
Chapter 1 – A Risky Gamble
Archive: Team Costumes
After leaving Peter’s room, turn right and enter the room (Rocket’s room) on your right to find this Collectible on the ground.
Archive: Nano-Resin Incident Report
Immediately after reaching the Quarantine Zone (big planet with pink goo), look to your left to find this on a yellow crate.
Outfit – Rocket: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
About 3 minutes later, you will slide down some metal and then reach a split in the path with Rocket saying “pretty sure that way’s a dead-end”. Follow the dead end to the right, but instead of going all the way to its end, turn right to walk on some blue metal and drop down in the hole to find a purple container with this Costume collectible.

Now follow Rocket to the left path, and after crouching down, turn left to find this on the ground.
Archive: QZ Disposal
After you shoot the parasites and Rocket activates the shooting challenge, continue inside the ship and look to the right on the ground. This is before vaulting over the small obstacle.
Note: Destroying more parasite nests than Rocket throughout the rest of the chapter also unlocks the trophy / achievement “Eat It, Rodent”.
Guardian Collectible: Ravager Comm Bracelet
From the last Collectible, drop down to the next area and crouch under the containers, then in the next section shoot the “Brittle Material” (grey goo). This reveals the Guardian Collectible underneath the Goo.

After fighting the first group of enemies (green round enemies), climb up the only path forward and you’ll find this opposite the Brittle Material (grey goo).
Archive: Unthinkable
After entering the eye of the big robot face, you’ll be in an area with lots of targets you can shoot as part of Peter’s shooting bet with Rocket. After destroying as many as possible, enter the cage on the upper floor, at the center of the area to find this on the ground.
Outfit – Groot: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
About 10 minutes later, you will run on the roof of your spaceship and then enter a room with a cutscene where Rocket & Groot reunite. After the cutscene, look to your right to find a hole in the goo you can crouch under. There you will find a purple container with this Costume collectible.
Guardian Collectible: Spinal Control Unit
Shortly after finding the first weapon upgrade workbench, you’ll drop down to an area with new enemy types attacking you. After defeating them, jump up on the only path forward, then turn around and destroy the gray Brittle Goo behind you (marked yellow in your visor vision). Underneath that goo is the Collectible.
Archive: A Miracle!
After reuniting with Drax and Gamora and using their abilities to place a pillar you can climb, you will enter a room where the three discuss what the monster will look like. Look by the steel pipes in the center of the room.

I wish you would’ve mentioned how you could progress the story in chapter 3. I accidentally did that before having other convos. Long story short tried deleting everything including auto sync save data but the collectibles are still here. Am I screwed out of getting platinum now? In the New Game save I have the collectibles from other games already in everyone’s room

You go back to the spaceship many times throughout the game – in Chapters 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14 – so you wouldn’t have needed to delete anything at all, can simply interact with it later.
I’ll make an additional note to not advance the story there, but this should go without saying as ALL collectibles are missable if you advance the story too far. Always gotta check for Collectibles first whenever you enter an area so you don’t accidentally trigger a cutscene or dialogue.
If the Guardian Collectibles are still in the rooms, the only way to reset them is to delete the Profile Save. Deleting the 3 manual saves doesn’t actually reset your overall progress, it’s all stored on the profile save, which can be deleted through PS4/PS5 Saved Data Management settings. At this point it’s probably for the best to start a completely clean run and delete the profile save and New Game saves to wipe everything. Not sure if mixing old game progress and New Game progress would mess up the trophy tracker. Given how buggy the collectibles are, I wouldn’t take any chances.

Okay thank you. Do you need to have all of the items “unlocked” in order to get platinum? Not collected just unlocked in the menu when viewing the items. I tried deleting save data and for some reason all of my saves and progress are still there. I will be missing the first 3 conversation items. Is that going to mess up being able to achieve platinum even if I collect everything else?
Andy says
It’s allowing me to interact with the items in the characters rooms but it’s not activating the cutscenes which is then not adding them as unlocked in the menu

Hi
Do you need in chapter 6 all 3 Dolls for trophy Lore Hoarder? As I checked all collectibles from top left to bottom right and I got all except the 2 dolls so my question is do I need all 3 dolls? Because in NG I got the Dwarf and in NG+ again Dwarf so should I do a backup save for in case I get the wrong one? Would be great to know

Hello
The spinal control unit wasn’t there in chapter 1. Did they patch it?
