Introduction
Welcome to the Knack 2 Trophy Guide! You can look forward to a relatively easy and quick platinum trophy with this game. The gameplay is very similar to Knack 1. Many of the trophies are tied to the Treasure Chest Collectibles. Luckily, they are not as random as they were back in the first game. Getting every chest is guaranteed to get you every item and Crystal Knack in the game. Furthermore, you only need one of four Crystal Knacks, meaning you can skip a few chests. Gadgets also come from Chests. After the first playthrough, you unlock New Game+ which lets you keep all upgrades. It’s recommended to start on hard difficulty right away because the game is quite long and also fairly easy (and frankly it’s more fun). A hard playthrough with collectibles takes around 12 hours. There are 15 chapters in total.
Step 1: Hard Difficulty Playthrough + 100 Treasure Chests + 4 Super Moves
It is HIGHLY recommended that you start on hard difficulty. It’s not hard at all, the game is made for children and has simple controls with only a few enemy types. The story is relatively long (around 12 hours, consisting of 15 chapters). Doing a second playthrough would take up a lot of time. The jump kick ( + ) kills most enemies quickly and you rarely get hit. Buy new skills as soon as they become available to make things easier.
You must also collect the treasure chest collectibles for many of the trophies. They contain parts of the gadgets and crystal knacks. It is random what parts they contain. However, if you have friends playing the game you can see what they found and pick their chest items instead. There are 100 chests in total. Getting each chest guarantees that you unlock everything in the game. The gadgets (from chests) make the game easier, so try not to miss any! Technically, you don’t have to find every single chest in the game. You only need one Crystal Knack, so around 50-60 chests will suffice (depending on how lucky you get with the parts). I want to note that finding all of them is still worth the effort for unlocking the better Crystal Knacks. They will make the Challenges easier later on. Try to get the Yellow Topaz Knack, he’s very good for the challenges.
Also keep in mind the 4 Super Moves. They are found in chapter 4-1 / 5-4 / 8-2 / 12-3. They are similar to chests but give you a new move instead of item parts.
The rest of the trophies is combat based. Don’t worry about the combat trophies, they will come naturally without even trying.
Nothing is missable! You can go back via chapter select (world map) at any time to mop up missing chests / super moves / combat trophies.
Step 2: Challenges (Time Attack + Coliseum Attack)
After beating the story for the first time, you unlock a new section in the main menu called “Extra Content”. From here you can start the 5 time attacks / 3 coliseum attacks.
In time attack you must speedrun short level sections. Make sure you kill all enemies, they freeze the time for a few seconds. Also run through all green and yellow rings to freeze time and get speed boosts.
Coliseum attacks are combat challenges. You must kill enemies very quickly without being hit.
To make things easier, use a Crystal Knack. I recommend using the Yellow Knack for all challenges (requires 15 Topaz Relics). If you collected all treasure chests you should have him available by now.
Step 3: Knack Medals
You need to get 70/143 Knack Medals. They are little challenges that can be done through chapter replay (world map). There’s a good chance you’ll have earned a few on your main playthrough without noticing. Some are for squashing hidden golden bugs or doing level specific things like ringing the bell of a clocktower. Most chapters have a speedrun challenge, combat score challenge, and completing the level on hard without dying. These are quite easy and you should look for chapters where you can combine those three things to get 3 knack medals in one run.
Definitely use a Crystal Knack for this step. The Yellow Knack (from getting 15 Topaz Relics) is my recommendation.
Common Medals:
- Cleared within…: These are simple speedruns. You can combine these with other medals. On easy difficulty you get some shortcuts which save a lot of time. However, you should attempt to combine these with the combat scores on very hard and not dying. Only if you miss the speedrun on very hard you should replay the level on easy.
- Cleared on Hard or Very Hard without being defeated: Self-explanatory. Play through the entire chapter without dying. This includes traps and falling to your death.
- Cleared with a score of … or higher: You earn points by speedrunning levels on Very Hard and killing all enemies in them. The key is to play on Very Hard. Beating the score on Hard is pretty much impossible in some levels, but on Very Hard it’s easy enough to pull off. With a Crystal Knack and all Skills unlocked you have a huge advantage. The speedrun requirement is also important, as it gives more points than the enemy kills alone. You earn bonus points by not being hit between enemy kills (but this isn’t too important). You are also allowed to die, though keep in mind that it costs time.
Remember you only need 70 of 143 Knack Medals. You can pick and choose which ones are the easiest for you.
Step 4: Mop Up
At this point you might still be missing one or two combat trophies, most likely the 100-hit combo. Refer to the trophy guide for anything you’re missing. Everything can still be done through chapter select.

Treasure Hunter Found 30 chests containing relic energy. |
Blue relic chests can be found pretty much anywhere. Upon destroying them they release blue orbs. There are hundreds of these all over the game, some in plain sight, others a little more hidden. I got this trophy by the time I reached chapter 4-2 (and there are 15 chapters total, so it was pretty early). Even if you don’t look for them you should easily get this trophy without trying. After destroying a blue chest it doesn’t respawn.
Honestly, don’t worry about this one. You’ll more than likely do it without losing a thought about it. |
Blockbuster Broke the blocks of 50 enemies. |
Some enemies use shields. You can break their block by holding once you’ve learned the Heavy Punch from Ava in Chapter 3-1.
The best place to farm it is also Chapter 3-1. There are lots of shielded enemies here, and you’ll also encounter many more over the course of the game. I got this naturally in my first playthrough. |
Pro Parrier Defeated 50 enemies using parries. |
A parry is when you counter just before an arrow hits you and the deflected arrow kills the attacker. The upgrade “Parry Ability Up” (Way of Strength Skill Tree) greatly improves your parry damage and kills most enemies in one parry. Normally, enemies die from 1-2 parries. The arrows are flying slow in this game so it’s not too hard to get the timing down. Hit just half a second before the arrow hits you and it will deflect.
There are shooting enemies in most levels. I got this in Chapter 6-2. Just try to kill every shooting enemy with a parry. In all likelihood you’ll do this naturally over time, either during your main playthrough or while replaying the chapters for Knack medals. There are plenty of opportunities for this, and probably 400+ shooting enemies in one playthrough. |
Goblin Gobbler Defeated 500 goblin enemies. |
This will unlock automatically on your first playthrough. There are far more than 500 goblins per playthrough. For example, you can find them in Chapter 6-2 and 6-3.
Robot Wrecker Defeated 700 robot enemies. |
This will unlock automatically on your first playthrough. There are far more than 700 robots per playthrough. For example, you can find them in Chapter 8-3.

All-New Powers Unlocked your first Crystal Knack. |
There are 4 Crystal Knacks in total but for this trophy (and the platinum) you only need 1 of them.
To unlock a Crystal Knack you must find all the Crystal Relics of one color (20 Blue, 20 Red, 15 Yellow, 15 Green). These relics are found in Treasure Chests. Every chest gives a random item (gadget part, or one relic piece). However, if someone on your friends list found the same chest you can pick what they found. There are 100 chests in total. Opening all of them guarantees that you will get all the relics required for 4 Crystal Knacks. The most common relics are Aqua and Ruby. I recommend going for Aqua (the blue speedy knack is good for time trials). The yellow knack from topaz relics is the best, but slightly rarer. Crystal Knacks:

Combo King Equipped a combo meter and landed a 100-hit combo. |
Chapter 5-4 First of all, you must unlock the combo meter gadget. It consists of 5 parts found in treasure chests (it’s random what rewards you get from chests). Enable the gadget and a combo counter will show up in the top left corner. You must do 100 hits in a row without being hit! At this point of the story it’s very unlikely that you have unlocked the combo meter. Therefore, it’s highly recommended you come back after the story. You can get around 150 hits from this one enemy encounter. If you get hit, transform to small knack and let the enemies kill you. This will restart the checkpoint and you can try again. It’s recommended to do this on normal difficulty. On easy the enemies die too quickly and on hard they are much more aggressive and might hit you. |
Sunstone Stunner Stunned enemies 50 times with sunstone bombs. |
First you must unlock the Sunstone Bomb. It’s the first gadget that you can earn in the game. It consists of only 3 parts. The parts are randomly found inside treasure chests.
Once you have opened enough chests and earned the Sunstone Bomb, equip it in the Gadgets Menu. Destroying a sunstone (yellow crystals) now stuns nearby enemies for a few seconds! It may take a while to get this trophy but it should come naturally over the course of the first playthrough. When there’s a sunstone during an encounter, be sure to lure an enemy to it and destroy the stone when they are standing next to it. The enemies must be really close. You’ll see some yellow dust over the enemy’s head upon destroying the crystal. |
Relic Racer Cleared a Time Attack stage. |
See trophy “Speed Demon”.
Gladiator Cleared a Coliseum Attack stage. |
See trophy “King of the Coliseum”.
Smaller is Better Defeated 10 enemies as small Knack. |
You can transform to small Knack by pressing . Small Knack dies in one hit and does considerably less damage. Later in the game there are a few chapters where you must kill enemies as small Knack, which is where you’ll likely earn this trophy automatically.
However, if you want to do it early on, Chapter 2-1 is a good spot. There are a few insect enemies in this chapter that die in one hit. The jump kick ( , ) works quite well with small Knack. Enemies rarely hit you while in midair. |
Novice Hero Knack Cleared all chapters on the Easy difficulty level or higher. |
See trophy “It’s a Knackout”.
Hero Knack Cleared all chapters on the Normal difficulty level or higher. |
See trophy “It’s a Knackout”.
It’s a Knackout Cleared all chapters on the Hard difficulty level or higher. |
It’s highly recommended that you start on Hard Difficulty to save time. A playthrough on hard takes roughly 12 hours.
Beware, you cannot change the difficulty after starting the game! The key difference to other difficulties is that enemies are much more aggressive, attack and move significantly faster, can take more damage and you die far quicker. Compared to other fighting games it’s really easy though. There are only a handful of enemy types. The game was made for children, so naturally the moveset is simplistic and easy to learn. Over time you get stronger as you find more gadgets from Treasure Chests and unlock more Skills and Combat Moves (yet the enemies stay pretty much the same). You also unlock New Game+ after the first playthrough. The trophy can be earned in New Game+. Combat Tips:
Halfway There Acquired 50 Knack medals. |
See trophy “You’ve Got the Knack”.
The Doctor’s Disciple Acquired all gadgets. |
Gadget Parts are randomly found in Treasure Chests.
There are the following 7 Gadgets:
Overall you are looking at 30 parts total. Meaning it will take 30 Treasure Chests. Often times you will get a relic piece instead of gadget part from chests, though. The good news is that if you have friends playing the game you can pick what they found in the chest. There are 100 chests in total. Finding every chest guarantees that you will unlock this trophy in the process. If luck is on your side you’ll unlock it long before the 100th chest, it all depends on what item drops you get. Also see Gadgets Overview and Treasure Chest Locations. |
Super Move Master Learned all super moves. |
See Knack 2 Super Move Locations.
Incredible Power! Learned all basic power-up skills. |
There are 4 skill trees. You only need the basic skills, meaning the cheap ones. In the first two skill trees they cost 1 skill point each. In the third and fourth skill tree they cost more.
You do not need the expensive skills at the top of the skill trees (for example “Finishing Blow” is not required). To buy new skills, pause the game and go to “Power Up”. There are 26 basic skills across 4 skill trees in total. After unlocking all basic skills from one tree, the next skill tree will become available. You earn XP for killing enemies and from blue energy chests. Squashing bugs and other insects also gives a few blue XP orbs. This is what it needs to look like to earn the trophy: Remember you shouldn’t waste XP on the expensive skills at the top of skill trees, those aren’t required for the trophy. |
Sucker for Punishment Cleared one chapter on the Very Hard difficulty level. |
Very Hard is the highest difficulty in the game. Luckily, you only need to clear one chapter via the world map and not the entire game. Chapter 2-1 is very easy. It only has a few bugs – that die in one hit – and some weak goblins.
The key difference to other difficulties is that enemies are much more aggressive, they attack and move significantly faster, they can take more damage and you die far quicker. After the first playthrough and collecting the treasure chests you will have access to All Moves, Skills, Crystal Knacks and Gadgets. This will make it a lot easier. You’ll probably want to replay some chapters on Very Hard anyway for the Combat Score Knack Medals. Very Hard gives a lot more Combat Score than other difficulties. After the first playthrough it really isn’t so bad (due to having all upgrades). |
You’ve Got the Knack Acquired 70 Knack medals. |
There are 143 Knack Medals in the game. You only need 70 for this trophy and the platinum.
They are little challenges. Each chapter has them. There are 3 Medals per chapter (boss stages only have 2). On the world map you can replay chapters and see the exact requirements. During chapter replay, you can also pause the game to see the challenges. In the first playthrough they are invisible, but the game is counting them in the background. You’ll probably get 20-30 on the first playthrough without knowing what they are. Because you only need less than half of the total medals you can pick and choose which ones are easiest for you. Most chapters have a speedrun challenge, combat score challenge, and completing the level on hard without dying. These are quite easy and you should look for chapters where you can combine all three things to get 3 knack medals in one run. Definitely use a Crystal Knack for this step. The Yellow Knack (from getting 15 Topaz Relics) is my recommendation. Common Medals:
Speed Demon Achieved 5 stars in every Time Attack. |
Time Attack is unlocked after beating the story for the first time. It can then be found in the main menu under “Extra Content”. The faster you are, the more stars you will earn. 5 stars is the best score. Make sure you kill all enemies along the way. Doing so freezes the time for a few seconds. The green rings freeze time, too! These challenges are quite doable with a little bit of practice. If you have trouble, unlock the crystal knacks first. I highly recommend the Speedy Knack (Aqua Blue) and Saber Knack (Topaz Yellow). If you have trouble, unlock the crystal knacks first. I highly recommend the Speedy Knack (Aqua Blue) and Saber Knack (Topaz Yellow). |
King of the Coliseum Achieved 5 stars in every Coliseum Attack. |
Coliseum Attack is unlocked after beating the story for the first time. It can then be found in the main menu under “Extra Content”. The more enemies you kill without being hit, the more points you earn. 5 stars is the best score. Make sure you kill all enemies very quickly without being hit by them! I recommend using the jump kick ( + ) and Somersault Kick ( + ). Just spam this combo over and over again. It’s super quick and kills most enemies instantly. The Somersault Kick needs to be unlocked in the power-up menu first (Way of Strength skill tree). Press: + , + , + . Against enemies with electricity shields, you should use boomerangs (hold ). It disables their shield. You can also use the boomerang to stun other enemies. If you have trouble, unlock the crystal knacks first. I highly recommend Saber Knack (Topaz Yellow). Saber Knack deals more damage, has better defense and recovers quicker. Compared to normal knack he can kill enemies in one less hit (can one-hit many enemies). You unlock the crystal knacks by opening treasure chests. |

Great guide, it’s really helpful – especially for the annoying time attack/colliseum challenges. I do have a question, though: in level 7-1, one of the medal missions is to destroy 3 white boxes, but despite going through the level a dozen times, one box eludes me. Do you have a screen shot of those box locations?
