Introduction
Welcome to the Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped Trophy Guide & Roadmap. This game is a PS4 Remaster of the old PS1 version. The content is identical to the old PS1 version (levels, gems, relics etc.) but it has gotten a complete visual overhaul.
The trophies are fairly straight forward. You must speedrun all missions for the Relics and destroy all boxes for the Clear Gems (Colored Gems are a bit different and require specific tasks). The rest of the trophies is for doing some quick miscellaneous tasks. Crash Bandicoot 3 is the easiest game in the N. Sane Trilogy. If you’ve platinumed the games in their default order you won’t have too much trouble with this one. If, however, you want to go from easiest to hardest it makes sense to play the games in reverse order and begin with Crash 3.
Step 1: Beat the Story
The first step is very simple: beat all missions to unlock every upgrade for Crash. Unlike the first two games you can unlock new abilities from killing bosses. Each boss drops one ability and they are extremely helpful. For example, you get the sprint ability from the final boss which makes it easier to do speedruns. You also unlock a bazooka which makes it a lot easier to destroy all crates for the gems (you can shoot them from far away). Don’t bother with anything else for now, just beat the story and forget about the rest. Once you’ve earned the gold trophy for beating the final boss you can proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Speedruns (Gold Relics)
It’s important that you get the relics before the gems! This matters because one clear gem in “Future Frenzy” can only be found after getting 20 Relics (more on this in step 4).
This is going to be the most challenging part of the game! To earn Relics you must finish the time trials (speedruns) in record time. There are 3 possible ratings depending on how fast you are: sapphire (slow), gold (good), platinum (best). After beating a level for the first time it will spawn a stopwatch at the start. Pick it up to start the trial.
Luckily, you only need all gold relics and not the platinum ones. To beat the required times you must finish the mission as quickly as possible without dying and must get time crates along the way (checkpoints are disabled). The time crates will freeze the clock for a few seconds. Compared to the first two games this is significantly easier because the levels don’t have so many traps and there aren’t as many platforming sections. Speed is everything here.

Step 3: Get All 5 Colored Gems
The reason you need colored gems first is because they unlock otherwise inaccessible paths in all sorts of levels. These paths lead to new boxes that are required for some of the Clear Gems.
Without the colored gems it’s impossible to get all of the clear ones! There are 5 colors in total. They are unlocked by doing the following tasks in these specific missions:
- Blue: Tomb Wader – found on the death route (must get there without losing a life)
- Red: Deep Trouble – hit the “!” exclamation point box at the end of the level. This spawns a dynamite box a little earlier in the level (requires backtracking). Now you can touch the dynamite box to blast away the metal boxes blocking the path. This reveals a secret route. Pick up the red gem at the end of this secret route.
- Green: Flaming Passion – found on death route (must get there without losing a life)
- Yellow: Hang’em High – on the main path at the end of Level 27: Hang’ Em High. To access the level you must earn 10 relics by doing speedruns (after beating a level once you can pick up a stopwatch at the start. Get a best time to earn a relic). Once you have 10 relics step on the orange dot in the middle of the central warp room (where you select levels). It leads to a secret 6th warp room in the basement. From here you can start level 27. You’ll walk into the gem at the end of this level, it’s practically in your way and hard to miss.
- Purple: High Time – found on death route (must get there without losing a life)

Step 4: Get All Clear Gems
Now that you have the colored gems new paths with additional boxes become available in many levels. You must destroy all boxes in each mission to earn one clear gems. You are allowed to die as often as you want. Just destroy all boxes and the clear gem unlocks at the end of the mission!
The following missions have more than one gem:
- Level 4: Bone Yard (on Red Gem Path)
- Level 9: Tomb Time (on Death Route)
- Level 11: Dino Might! (on Yellow Gem Path)
- Level 16: Sphynxinator (on Blue Gem Path)
- Level 19: Future Frenzy (Go through second level entrance. It’s found in warp room 6, in the basement. Step on orange platform in the central warp room from where you select levels to get to the basement. You must earn 20 relics to unlock this alternate level entrance)
- Level 21: Gone Tomorrow (on Green Gem Path)
- Level 25: Bug Lite (on Multicolored Gem Path, requires all 5 colored gems)
- Level 28: Area 51? (for winning the race)
- Level 30: Rings of Power (for winning the race)
Their second gem is obtained from doing the level’s death route, colored gem route or using the level’s second entrance in Warp Room 6 (which is accessed by standing on the orange dot in the central warp room from where you select levels). The list above includes how the second clear gem is obtained. For the other levels not on this list simply destroy all boxes to get their gem.
Death Routes are triggered by special platforms with a skull & bones sign on them. They can only be activated if you haven’t lost a life during the level! Get to the platform without dying and step on it.
Also keep in mind that the two hidden bonus levels contain gems. See trophy “Giving 102%!”.

Step 5: Miscellaneous Trophies
Several of the miscellaneous trophies require a lot of game progress (for example “Accept No Substitutes” requires 104% game completion). Now that you’ve unlocked everything you can do them very quickly.

||
About halfway through the first level “Toad Village” you find a platform with a “?” question mark on it. Step on the platform to start a bonus path and the trophy will unlock.
A Cut Above the Rest Discover a Gem Path after earning a Color Gem. |
||
You will earn this when doing the trophy “Getting Carried Away”. It’s recommended that you refer to that description to combine both trophies.
First you need a colored gem (there are 5 colors: blue, red, yellow, green, purple). For example, get the yellow gem. This unlocks a new gem path in Level 11: Dino Might!. There’s a yellow platform near the start of the level (before the dinosaur egg) that you can step on. It brings you to an optional area that is inaccessible without the yellow gem and unlocks the trophy. This is how you obtain the colored gems:

Not a Scratch (Give It Time) Discover a Death Route. |
||
The following levels have a death routes:
To access them you must reach a platform with a skull & bones signal without dying in these levels! If you die the platform goes away. Death Routes are harder than the normal routes. Once you step on the death route platform the trophy pops immediately. You don’t have to complete it. |
||
UFO Xing Discovered the Secret Exit in Road Crash. |
||
Road Crash is the 14th level in the game, in Warp Room 3. You’ll be driving a motorcycle in this level. At the start of the level drive slowly and stick to the left side of the road. On the left side there’s a yellow road sign with a black alien head on it. Knock over the sign with your motorcycle to trigger the secret exit. |
||
Getting Carried Away Discovered the Secret Exit in Dino Might! |
||
To reach the secret exit in Dino Might! (Level 11, Warp Room 3) several steps are required. Step 1: Earn 10 Relics (any value, doesn’t matter if Sapphire, Gold or Platinum). Relics are rewards for beating best times in speedruns. After beating a level for the first time you can pick up a stopwatch at the start of the level and do the speedrun. Getting 10 Relics unlocks Level 27 in the secret warp room. While in the center of the Warp Area (from where you select levels) stand on the orange button in the middle. It will bring you to the basement where level 27 can be started. Step 2: Play Level 27 “Hang’ Em High” and pick up the Yellow Colored Gem at the end. You’ll walk right into it, would be hard to miss. Complete the level afterwards to make it count. Step 3: Start Level 11 “Dino Might!” (Warp Room 3). About one minute into the level before the dinosaur egg you can activate the yellow gem path. This is why we needed the yellow gem, because without it you only see the outlines of the platform and cannot activate it. Step 4: The secret exit is found on this yellow gem path. Keep playing until the big dinosaur chases after you. At the start of the dinosaur chase there are two pterodactyls (flying dinosaurs) sitting on tree trunks. Jump onto the second one to trigger the secret exit — trophy unlocked! |

Bringing Down the House Earn 42 Gems. |
||
For the specific locations and requirements see Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped Gem Locations Guide
There are a total of 45 Gems in Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. For this trophy you only need 42/45, however to get the trophy “Accept No Substitutes” you will need all 45! The game has two types of Gems: Colored Gems (5 total) Obtained by doing certain actions in the following missions:
Clear Gems (37 total) One clear gem per level is obtained by destroying all boxes. In several levels you need colored gems, they open up new paths to boxes that are otherwise inaccessible! Some levels contain more than one clear gem. If it has 2 gems that means there’s one from destroying all boxes + one from a death route or gem route. If a mission has only 1 gem it will be from destroying all boxes only. Death Routes are triggered by special platforms with a skull & bones sign on them. They can only be activated if you haven’t lost a life during the level! Get to the platform without dying and step on it. Here’s a list of missions that have two clear gems (including the location of their second gem):
Also keep in mind that the two hidden bonus levels contain gems. See trophy “Giving 102%!”. It’s important that you get all the colored gems first. Without them you can’t get some of the boxes. Gems are level rewards rather than collectibles. To see how many boxes you’ve destroyed during an active mission press the Triangle-Button. For the specific locations and requirements see Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped Gem Locations Guide |

Boo-yah, Grandma! Boo-yah! Earn 30 Relics (gold or better). |
||
There are a total of 30 Relics in the game. Relics are rewards from doing speedruns / time trials. When you finish a mission in record time you earn a relic. There are 3 possible ratings depending on how fast you are: sapphire (slow), gold (good), platinum (best). Before you attempt this it is highly recommended that you beat all bosses first. The bosses drop various helpful abilities, including double jump, continuous spinning (lets you fly through the air to get over long gaps and fly over rows of enemies unharmed), a bazooka (can trigger the timer from afar to get a headstart), sprint boost (lets you run very fast). Luckily, you only need all gold relics and not the platinum ones. It’s still going to be the hardest trophy in the game. To beat the required times you must finish the mission as quickly as possible without dying and must get time crates along the way (there are no checkpoints). The time crates will freeze the clock for a few seconds. Please note that the time trials only unlock after beating a level for the first time. You will then find a stopwatch at the start of the level. Pick it up (or shoot it with bazooka) to start the timer. Also see List of Target Times for Gold Relics |
||
The Riddle of the Sphynx Have your bazooka ready. |
||
This trophy can be done in Level 9: Tomb Time (Warp Room 2). But first you must get the Fruit Bazooka by defeating the Dr. N. Gin boss at the end of Warp Room 4. He will automatically drop the bazooka and it cannot be missed. Once you have unlocked the bazooka, replay level 9. At the very start of the level you see the a sphynx in front of you. Shoot the side of the sphynx (left or right, when the aim marker turns red). This gives you an extra life and the trophy. |
||
Accept No Substitutes Shoot the imposter. |
||
First you need 104% game completion. To get 104% you need all crystals, all gems and all gold relics (don’t forget about the relics & gems in the two bonus levels, see trophy “Giving 102%!”). When you are at 104% defeat the final boss again to unlock a secret game ending. Now a fake Crash Bandicoot will spawn in three levels. For example, he spawns in Level 1: Toad Village. Roughly halfway through the level he can be seen dancing on the right side (outside the map, in front of a house). Shoot him with the Bazooka and the trophy is yours. |
||
Warts and All Die. |
||
This can be done in Level 6: Gee Wiz (Warp Room 2). In this level you find mages shooting spells at you (small glowing projectiles). Get hit by their spell and it will turn you into a toad. You’ll lose a life and earn the trophy for it.
Keeping Crash Under Wraps Die. |
||
This can be done in Level 16: Sphynxinator (Warp Room 4). There are “Walking Sarcophagi” enemies in this level. Hit them once and a mummy will drop out. Let the mummy grab you. This kills you and unlocks the trophy.
Category Five Defeat 5 enemies with Coco’s Savage Hurricane Spin. |
||
Coco is unlocked at the very start of the game. She will be standing in front of a big computer screen, go interact with her. Now you can press R2 to switch between Coco & Crash (before starting a level). To unlock her Savage Hurricane Spin you must first defeat the third boss “Dr. N. Tropy” in Warp Room 3. He drops a new move that lets you spin repeatedly via the Square-Button.
Once you have the move, play as Coco and press Square very quickly to do the Hurriance Spin attack. Kill 5 enemies in one level and the trophy will pop. You can farm kills by letting yourself die and spinning into the same enemy each time. |
||
A Stitch in Time Saves 99 Earn 99 Lives. |
||
Lives can be found from many boxes. They will drop a crash bandicoot icon that you can pick up for an extra life. These boxes show up in many places throughout the levels so you’ll run into them very frequently. You must have 99 lives at the same time. In the bottom right it says how many lives you have. So basically: keep going for a long time without dying too often. You also earn a life when 100 apples have been collected. Destroy all boxes you come across and pick up the apples. It’s possible to farm lives by repeating the same level over and over again and collecting all apples & extra lives in it. A great place to farm is Level 3: Orient Express. You can get 5 lives per playthrough and it only takes 1 minute (pressing R2 makes you go faster). To make the lives respawn finish the level, create a manual save game (press L2 and Square to save), then press X to reload the manual save immediately. Now replay the level and repeat the manual save & reload trick. |
||
Trigger Clickin’ Good Shoot 5 of them in a single level. |
||
First you need the Fruit Bazooka. It is unlocked by defeating Dr. N. Gin in Warp Room 4 (he’s the 4th boss). He drops it automatically, it cannot be missed. Once you have the bazooka, replay Level 1: Toad Village. At the very start of the level there’s a white chicken. Shoot it with the bazooka. Let the nearby goat kill you to respawn the chicken. Kill the chicken again and let the goat kill you. Repeat this procedure to farm 5 kills on the same chicken. |
||
Your Moment of Zen Avoid whatever he’s flinging at you. |
||
The earliest opportunity for this is in Level 9: Tomb Time. Evade everything he’s throwing at you. After 1 minute he’ll stop throwing. Now destroy the 4 jars and you’ll see the ghost of the monkey flying away. This unlocks the trophy. |

I wonder how you rate these games when you didn’t even platinum them.
PowerPyx says
I know enough people who have + know the originals (which are the same as the remasters). Besides, I’m not missing much for plat, tested everything there is.
SL says
So you created it based on your knowledge from old games. That is cool. Ok thanks for the reply :).
Your guides help a lot and thank you for that.
Good luck on platinuming them!
P.S: The only problem on remaster is that the games have somehow lag. I mean when you press something or move, it’s responding slow. I don’t remember having these problems on ps1. I will ignore them of course and do my best to platinum them! ^_^
Roger says
I agree. I think especially oriental express and midnight run. Something about it is weird.
Adam says
I’ve completed the gold relics with out the power run haha
Grey Fox says
Thanks! I didn’t know about all these hidden trophies.
“To get 104% you need all crystals, all gems and all gold relics”. I did it with not all gold relics (all relics, but not all gold). And I see 44 out of 45 gems. That is strange… Where is my missing gem? But I got that trophy.
Stefan Gose says
you need all gold relics for a trophy thats why he described it like that i think.
The last gem you get in the middle of the map selection room its just there on the left side before the big screen
Grey Fox says
I think I understood. I don’t need all gold relics for 104%, but I need them for 105%…
Grey Fox says
No problem. Just got 105%. La la la…
I have no idea how to get platinum relics, and I have less idea how some people have time records way better than platinum time… I leave this dilemma to you 🙂
Stefan Gose says
For the lives farming i wuld recommend level 16, directly after the spawn go to the left side and at the end of the path collect the 4 lives, then backout, save, reload and done.
bob says
For Trigger Clickin’ Good you don’t need to die, just start the time trial and then you can restart the level and still get it.
Sebastian Medel says
In stage 4 you need a 1:40 to get the gold relic I ran a 1:25 and I did not revice the relic what do I do! Is the game glitched for me?
