Introduction
Welcome to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 (2019) Trophy Guide! This is by far the easiest and quickest Call of Duty platinum to date. There are no online trophies, no Zombies Mode, no Collectibles. Not even Special Operations are needed for the platinum. All the trophies take place in the story, which is very short as usual.
Step 1: Recruit Difficulty Playthrough
To make the miscellaneous trophies easier, it’s recommended to do a playthrough on the lowest difficulty “Recruit” first. Work on all the mission specific trophies as you go through the game. There are no collectible-related trophies.
You can also follow my COD: MW4 YouTube Playlist along the way which shows all story trophies in chronological order.
Below are all trophies in the order you can unlock them:
- Mission 1: Fog of War
- Nothing but Net
- Mission 2: Piccadilly
- Trigger Discipline
- Circus Tour
- Mission 3: Embedded
- Companion Block
- Play Dead
- Mission 4: Proxy War
- Long Way Down
- Wild Fire
- Ashes to Ashes
- Mission 5: Clean House
- Wall Hax
- Golden Path
- Mission 6: Hunting Party
- Press [BOOM] to Defuse
- Good Effect on Target
- Mission 7: The Embassy
- Love from Above
- Mission 8: Highway of Death

- Pit Stop
- Mission 9: Hometown
- Two Birds
- Mission 10: Wolf’s Den
- Tunnel Rat
- Hang Time
- Mission 11: Captive
- Got Something on Your Face
- Dodged a Bullet
- Mission 12: Old Comrades
- Hot Swap

- Lights Out
- We Own the Night
- Mission 14: Into the Furnace
- Warheads on Foreheads
Step 2: Mop Up Miscellaneous Trophies via Mission Select
Get all remaining miscellaneous / story-related trophies via mission select. The only thing you should have left after this step is the trophy for beating the story on Veteran difficulty.
Step 3: Veteran Difficulty Playthrough
Replay the story on Veteran difficulty and the platinum will be yours. There are no online trophies or collectibles. The good news is that Veteran has a lot of checkpoints and if you played previous Call of Duty’s on Veteran you won’t have any trouble here whatsoever. Just take it slow and make good use of cover, taking out enemies one by one.
Step 4: Special Operations DLC (not needed for Platinum)
Special Operations mode has a single trophy for beating all 4 Special Operations (Operation Headhunter, Operation Kuvalda, Operation Paladin, Operation Crosswind). It’s a DLC list of its own and not mandatory for the platinum. Simply beat each Special Operation one time. This requires a team of 4 players. It’s difficult (but possible) with a random team. You can sort of “cheat” it by having one player with a riot shield hide, then even if the other 3 die they can respawn. As long as one player stays alive (riot shield is indestructible) the other 3 can respawn. If you have friends and a headset to communicate with them it’s a bit easier. Only the 4 operations listed under “Special Operations” are needed (Survival, Classic Special Ops is not needed).

||
Earn all other trophies in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 (2019) to unlock Platinum! The Special Operations DLC is not required for this.
Press [BOOM] to Defuse Blow up 3 tripwires with explosives. |
||
Mission 6: Hunting Party There are more than 3 tripwires placed throughout Mission 6. You must throw frag grenades at them to blow them up, or use the rocket launcher attachment of your primary weapon. On your way to the hospital you find 2 tripwires and inside the hospital are many more. |
||
Ashes to Ashes Burn 4 enemies with a single molotov. |
||
Mission 4: Proxy War — Objective: Secure Armory During the first big enemy encounter in this level, you can see a helicopter landing in the middle of the area, it will drop off 4 enemies simultaneously. As soon as you see a helicopter in the air, be very quick and run straight to it. This is best done on Recruit Difficulty (the easiest difficulty) so that enemies don’t kill you on the way. If you’re quick enough you’ll get to the helipad before the helicopter lands on it. Wait for the soldiers to touch the ground (don’t throw molotov while they’re in the air because it will blow up the helicopter and count as an explosion instead of a burn). When they’ve touched down, throw a molotov on the floor between them. You have to time it just right, you can’t give them any time to run away. If you do it correctly all 4 will start to burn simultaneously. They don’t have to die from it, the molotov’s fire just has to hurt them for the trophy to unlock. If it doesn’t work, restart the checkpoint to try again (can take a few tries to get the timing perfectly, see the video). Molotovs are your default throwable in this mission. Note: You can also get “Wid Fire” here in the same place for downing a helicopter with a molotov. |
||
Hang Time Kill 3 Enemies while you are on a ladder. |
||
Mission 10: The Wolf’s Den — Objective: Find a way up the Mineshaft Inside the mine tunnels when you must push the 2nd cart, pick up the 1911 pistol under the cart. Then climb up the burning ladders and shoot the enemies while on the ladders. If something goes wrong you can restart the checkpoint (the kills are also farmable via checkpoint restart if you find it easier – kill 1 guy from ladder, restart checkpoint, repeat). |
||
Long Way Down Crash a helicopter by shooting the pilot. |
||
Mission 4: Proxy War — Objective: Secure Armory During the first big enemy encounter in this level, you will see two helicopters flying around. It’s best that you pick up the Sniper Rifle “Kar98K” at the start of the level for this (in first room next to staircase). Aim the sniper rifle at the pilot – he will be outlined in red so is easy to see. Shoot at the pilot to down the helicopter. If the trophy doesn’t pop, reload checkpoint immediately. |
||
Wild Fire Take down a flying Helicopter with a molotov. |
||
Mission 4: Proxy War — Objective: Secure Armory During the first big enemy encounter in this level, you can see a helicopter landing in the middle of the area. As soon as you see a helicopter in the air, be very quick and run straight to it. This is best done on Recruit Difficulty (the easiest difficulty) so that enemies don’t kill you on the way. If you’re quick enough you’ll get to the helipad before the helicopter lands on it. Then simply throw molotovs at it. If you don’t get to the helicopter in time, restart the checkpoint (or the mission) to try again. Molotovs are your default throwable in this mission. Note: You can also do “Ashes to Ashes” here for burning 4 enemies with a single molotov. The helicopter will drop off 4 soldiers on the helipad, after they have landed on the ground throw a molotov on the floor between them. |
||
Good Effect on Target Kill an enemy with a direct hit from a smoke grenade. |
||
Mission 6: Hunting Party — Objective: Reach the Third Floor During Mission “Hunting Party” you automatically start with Smoke Grenades. After entering the hospital, there is an enemy bleeding out on a sickbed in the left room (left of the tripwire in the corridor). He’s bleeding out and in “Last Stand”. Quickly rush to him and throw a smoke grenade at him for an instant kill. If you take too long he will bleed out or your teammates might kill him. |
||
Out of the Fire Complete every single player mission on Veteran or Realism difficulty. |
||
Beat all 14 story missions on Veteran difficulty for this (no need to pick Realistic difficulty). You take a lot more damage on Veteran. Just take it slow, make good use of cover, and take out enemies one by one. There are plenty of checkpoints which helps. Compared to previous Call of Duty’s this is one of the easier ones to finish on Veteran.
Tea Time Complete the single player Campaign on any difficulty. |
||
Complete the story (14 missions) on any difficulty. The easiest difficulty “Recruit” counts for this, too.
Nothing but Net Neutralize the ‘Fog of War’ machine gun with a frag grenade. |
||
Mission 1: Fog of War — Objective: Locate Barkov’s Gas After you enter the enemy facility, two of your teammates will open up a door. Behind that door is a trainyard and a Machine Gunner shoots from where a blue floodlight is. This is not a stationary machine gun, but rather a person carrying a Machine Gun and shooting at you. Clear out the other enemies first. Then go up the stairs to the left of the machine gunner. Get close to him and throw a grenade, it will instant kill him. |
||
Trigger Discipline Do not injure any civilians in ‘Piccadilly’. |
||
Mission 2: Piccadilly You must complete the entire mission without shooting any civilians. Luckily, it’s a very short mission. This is best done on Recruit Difficulty. Then the enemies don’t deal you much damage and you can get really close to them. Stand in front of them and aim at their feet, this way the bullet can’t keep flying or accidentally hit a civilian. At the end of the mission the trophy will unlock (after sacrificing the bomb vest hostage to save the other hostages). |
||
Play Dead Kill all the enemies in the ‘Embedded’ field of dead bodies. |
||
Mission 3: Embedded — Objective: Follow Farah After destroying the two helicopters with C4, you need to follow Farah. You’ll come to a sort of garden area with lots of dead bodies on the right side. Farah will lay down and tell you to do the same and stay still or else the enemies will spot you. But for this trophy, you must do the opposite and face the enemies head on and kill all of them in this segment. Be sure to bring some good fully automatic weapons (switch between weapons when magazine is empty, it’s quicker than reloading). Start shooting the enemies as soon as the first one steps through the door on the other side – this is better than letting all of them group up. Also make sure you’re playing on Recruit difficulty to reduce the damage you take from enemies. You can combine it with trophy “Companion Block” which takes place in the same mission. |
||
Companion Block Only use one cinder block and bring it to the end of ‘Embedded’. |
||
Mission 3: Embedded — Objective: Get Through Building Early in the mission, you’ll come to a place where Farah (girl you’re walking with) goes to the right side to some trucks and you must go left where the workers are and pick up a cinder block. This is an unmissable story part, as you need to pick up the cinder block to get past the guards (they will think you’re one of the workers). Bring that very same cinder block all the way to the end of the mission! You are allowed to drop the block in every enemy section. Feel free to shoot any enemies in your way. Then before moving on to the next objective, remember to take your cinder block with you. Also make sure you don’t confuse it with other cinder blocks sitting on the floor. Best to put it in memorable places where there are no other blocks. You can combine it with trophy “Play Dead” which also takes place in this mission. When you reach the very end of the mission there will be a button prompt at a ladder leading into a hole. Make sure you hold the cinder block in your hands before holding but don’t let it drop into the hole (there are reports that if it falls down the hole you don’t get the trophy). So just stand back a few steps and not right over the hole. |
||
Wall Hax Save Alpha 3-2 from being downed. |
||
Mission 5: Clean House —Objective: Secure Second Floor Alpha 3-2 is the codename of one of your teammates called “Sgt. Madden” during Mission 5: Clean House. In this mission you go through a dark house and must shoot all the enemies hiding behind doors.When you go up the stairs to the 2nd floor, there will be a door on the right side. You must shoot through this door before your teammates walk past it. This will expose the enemies behind the door. Kill all enemies in the room behind the door and go through all the rooms. When you move on to the third floor the trophy will unlock. Normally, if you were to not shoot through that door, the enemies would shoot through it when Sgt. Madden (Alpha 3-2) walks behind it, thus he’d get downed. It’s easier to do it on mission replay once you’re familiar with the level layout. |
||
Golden Path Complete ‘Clean House’ without being hit using one bullet per threat. |
||
Mission 5: Clean House You have to complete the mission while killing all killable enemies yourself using 1 bullet per enemy only. You’re not allowed to take any damage. If you mess up you can use checkpoint restart (no need to use mission restart). This is a bit more complicated than the trophy description makes it out to be. If you shoot some people in the wrong order or too early or let your teammates kill them it can void the trophy. Look at the video and replicate it EXACTLY floor by floor. This means killing all the enemies in the exact order I did and letting them grab their weapons first. Here’s everything Step by Step:
The points of trouble that can mess up the trophy are A) when you shoot the fake hostage before she draws a gun; and B) when you shoot the last woman too early or let Price kill her. Other things I did when I got the trophy:
Remember it’s fine to use Checkpoint Restart if you make a mistake. Especially shooting the hostage taker in the head without getting hit by him can take a few tries. |
||
Circus Tour Kill at least one enemy while inside The Reading Place, Aural Chic and both Subway undergrounds. |
||
Mission 2: Piccadilly — Objective: Neutralize Terrorists This level is basically just one giant town district. While the story wants you to go to the reading place, the two underground sections and Aural Chic (clothing store) are optional and you have to go out of your way to enter them. Each location has at least one enemy, kill them there.
|
||
Love from Above Destroy 4 trucks with 4 drone strikes before they reach the end of their path in ‘The Embassy’. |
||
Mission 7: The Embassy — Objective: Mark Targets from rooftop After Captain Price gives you the drone laser pointer, you must climb the ladder to a roof. In the next section I shot all enemies (didn’t use the drone here). After all enemies are cleared out, wait on the rooftop. A blue civilian vehicle will pass by the street on the left, ignore this one (don’t fire drone strike at it). After the blue civilian car has passed, the 4 enemy trucks for this trophy will start to spawn. They are trucks with a manned turret on the back and enemies inside. You can only use 1 drone strike per vehicle. If you mess up, restart the checkpoint immediately. Timing is important, you must aim about 5-10 meters in front of where the trucks are driving. It takes 1.5 seconds for the missile to hit the ground. Destroy all 4 trucks with one drone strike each. You can equip the drone laser pointer by pressing . Truck 1 – Drives down the middle area |
||
Pit Stop Stop three APCs with Hadir’s sniper rifle. |
||
Mission 8: Highway of Death — Objective: Stop Russian Assault At the end of the mission, some white smoke will be dropped on the left side of the highway and 4 APCs (armored vehicles) roll in. Equip Hadir’s Sniper Rifle (given to you at start of mission). The way you disable the APCs is by shoot off 3 tires (they have 6 tires total). After shooting 3 tires, the APC will come to a halt. Shoot off 3 tires per APC. You only need to do this to 3 of the 4 APCs. Start shooting as soon as they appear on the far left of the screen and adjust your aim for bullet-drop and wind. If you feel like you’re taking too long, restart the checkpoint immediately. |
||
Driver’s Ed Shoot the driver of the suicide truck. |
||
Mission 8: Highway of Death — Objective: Stop Suicide Truck About a third through the mission, you get the objective to stop a suicide truck. Just do what the game wants you to do and shoot the driver. There are some wooden boards in front of the windshield that you need to shoot off first. Hit those a few times. When the windshield is exposed you can shoot the driver. This gets increasingly easier the closer he gets to you. Use Hadir’s Sniper Rifle that you are given at the start of the mission. |
||
Two Birds Kill both soldiers with one shot in ‘Hometown’. |
||
Mission 9: Hometown — Objective: Steal the Vehicle This trophy takes place at the very end of the mission, when you have to sneak through the poppies to steal a truck. There are two soldiers in that area. Lay low in the poppies and press after the prompt comes up on the screen / when your brother reaches the end of the hill. This will call your brother’s phone, which distracts the enemies. They’ll walk over there. Walk behind them and pick up the revolver from the table in the middle of the area. Climb onto the table, line up both enemies and shoot. Aiming at their torso or any body part will do, the bullet will blow through them easily. Doesn’t have to be a headshot. The game also creates a checkpoint right after picking up the revolver so you can retry if you need to. |
||
Tunnel Rat Complete ‘The Wolf’s Den’ tunnels using only the 1911. |
||
Mission 10: The Wolf’s Den — Objective. Proceed to the Team Room After you enter the tea room and open the hatch on the floor, there will be a mid-mission cutscene. You’ll then drop down to a dark tunnel area. This is where the trophy starts (before the tunnels you are still allowed to use other weapons). After this point use only the 1911 pistol and nothing else (don’t even use flashbangs / grenades). You’ll automatically hold it in your hands after the tunnel cutscene. You also get new ammo for it, in case you use up your previous 1911 ammo. However, you still can’t spray bullets unnecessarily as there’s not super much ammo. It’s best to play on Recruit and do headshots only. There are also ammo drops for the 1911 pistol throughout the tunnels. Just avoid running out of ammo and don’t fire any other weapon or grenade. After defusing the cables at the end of the mission, the trophy will unlock. |
||
Dodged a Bullet Never get hit by the sniper while escaping captivity. |
||
Mission 11: Captive — Objective: Find where Barkov took Hadir and the others After fighting through the first wave of enemies in this level, you will come to an area with a Sniper. A red laser will show you where he’s aiming. The general strategy is to sprint-slide from cover to cover after you hear him fire a shot. At the start, go across the street behind the brick “house”. Take out all enemies that arrive in cars on the right side. Then stick to the right side, sliding from one small cover to the next. As you get closer to the Sniper there’s a bridge on the right side. Make sure you quickly slide over to the wall under the bridge. Hug the wall, the Sniper can’t hit you there. Lay low as you go uphill and lastly wait for him to miss a shot and then sprint-slide over to the building the Sniper is in. When you enter, aim above to kill the Sniper. The trophy will unlock there immediately as soon as you killed the Sniper. If you get hit by the Sniper you are allowed to restart the checkpoint. |
||
Got Something on Your Face Spit on Barkov. |
||
Mission 11: Captive — Objective: Survive Interrogation At the start of the level, Barkov will escort you from your prison cell to an interrogation chair. When you see 4 dialogue choices press (Right Stick) to spit in his face. Don’t pick any of the dialogues. |
||
Hot Swap Get at least one kill with eight different weapons when completing ‘Old Comrades’. |
||
Mission 12: Old Comrades This is straightforward enough. Pick up all different weapons dropped by enemies and do a kill with each. There are much more than 8 weapons in this level. From the first weapons box you can choose from 3 weapons – pick the M19 (it is the rarest drop by enemies in this level). At the end of the mission you enter a Van where you find the M91 Machine Gun & RPG-7 Rocket Launcher. That’s 3 weapons given to you automatically that you don’t have to worry about, so you really just need to find 5 from enemies which isn’t a problem at all. |
||
Lights Out Shut off the power to 4 buildings in ‘Going Dark’. |
||
Mission 13: Going Dark During this mission you can use some power switches on the walls of buildings to turn off the lights.
|
||
We Own the Night Kill all enemies at the Church, Clocktower, and Pool without anyone calling for backup. |
||
Mission 13: Going Dark — Objective: Find Hadir When you have to use a rope to repel down to a big open town area, there will be 3 marked main objectives (press Touchpad to see them). They are the Church, Clocktower, Pool. You must kill all enemies in these 3 locations without them starting to shoot at you. Just kill everyone you see, carefully go through the entire building. Also increase the volume of your game so you can hear enemies talking or making other noises (using headphones helps to hear where the sounds are coming from). Because the enemies are roaming around and don’t always stay in fixed places it will slightly vary where they are. The trophy will unlock as soon as you cleared out all enemies in these 3 locations. You don’t have to finish the mission for it to unlock. The big building in the middle where they hold Hadir can be ignored. If you get spotted you are allowed to restart checkpoints. Enemies are allowed to find corpses, they just can’t start shooting at you. Tips:
Enemy Groupings:
Because of how the enemies roam around once you cut the power and the order you kill them in, the enemy locations can slightly vary. If the trophy doesn’t unlock and you’re sure you have not been seen, then recheck all locations. You can also shoot a window to lure the last surviving enemy. |
||
Warheads on Foreheads Reach Barkov’s lab entrance using only drone strikes. |
||
Mission 14: Into the Furnace — Objective: Reach the Lab Facility From the beginning of the mission you are only allowed to use (=shoot) the laser pointer until you reach the top of the hill. The trophy will pop when reaching the entrance door to the labs (just before going inside the building). You can’t shoot any of your weapons and can’t throw back enemy grenades either. Press to equip the laser pointer to request drone strikes. Your drone has unlimited ammo but takes a while to recharge. This is best done on recruit difficulty. |
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 (2019) – Special Operations DLC
Liberation Complete all Special Operations missions. |
||
Special Operations mode has a single trophy for beating all 4 “Special Operations”:
It’s a DLC list of its own and not mandatory for the platinum. Simply beat each Special Operation one time. This requires a team of 4 players (there is matchmaking that automatically connects you to random online players). It’s difficult (but possible) with a random team. If you have friends and a headset to communicate with them it’s easier to pull this off. Only the 4 operations listed under “Special Operations” are needed. You do NOT need Survival / Classic Special Ops. You can sort of “cheat” it by having one player with a riot shield hide far away from enemies, then even if the other 3 die they can respawn. As long as one player stays alive (riot shield is indestructible) the other 3 can respawn. Your Multiplayer level (and unlocked equipment) is shared to Co-Op mode. So if you level up online, you gain co-op ranks as well. The recommended loadout for all 4 players is “Heavy Support”. You can select this at the start of the match (after the match has loaded up, your level doesn’t matter – can be selected even if you already unlocked custom loadouts). It comes with a Riot Shield and M91 Machine Gun. The Riot Shield is a huge help as it blocks bullets from behind while carrying the MG, or if you’re in a tricky situation you can completely block damage from the front and melee enemies with it. The riot shield is indestructible. All 4 people should play as a medic, it allows you to revive teammates faster and has a cooldown-ability that can instantly revive all 3 other players wherever they are on the map. One problem can be running out of ammo. Luckily the MG deals lots of damage and has lots of ammo, but bring 3 ammo packs (selected under killstreaks) and have your friends bring some too. Then you can replenish ammo when you need it. If you play with randoms, you can hang back and let them do all the work for you, while you just hide with a riot shield – as long as you’re alive the others can revive (but keep moving or else you get kicked for inactivity). NOTE: This trophy is only obtainable since patch 1.07 (November 07, 2019). It was bugged before then. However, if you did the 4 operations before the patch, you only need to redo Operation #1: Headhunter and the trophy will pop (no need to replay all operations in this case – but make sure you replay the first mission and not the others). |

Hey PP! Good news for me; I played the original MW arc for its story and are the only CODs I really love.
For now, Xbox (my platform) doesn’t have the Spec Ops DLC update. If it does, I’d be more pressed to do it because we don’t get a platinum – are they all doable solo? I see its just for finishing them.
PowerPyx says
I just started the download for Special Operations. I’ll add the answer to your question to the guide shortly (by tomorrow at the latest).
PhantomFear94 says
Apologies, didn’t realise it was still locked. Thanks PP 🙂
PhantomFear94 says
This has been patched in on Xbox now, was just delayed. I think PS4’s exclusivity is only for Survival in Spec Ops, not Spec Ops itself.
PowerPyx says
Videos are unlocking throughout the day 🙂
Should be all live by end of the day.
RamsesBlair says
Hi. Thanks for the Roadmap PP. But it would’ve been nice to put them in order.
PowerPyx says
I have (see Step 1).
bill says
Really easy platinum if you can skip the veteran missions by doing the same method like in earlier cods
>play untill last checkpoint
>Quit the game
>Restart an application
> Change to veteran
Then you will spawn into last checkpoint of the mission.
can anyone confirm if this can be done? for a easy veteran trophie?
OTPYG says
This is the easiest Veteran difficulty CoD has had in many many years, if not ever. Very generous checkpoints.
Stalker-NSDQ79 says
Veteran is not that hard this time. Like said before, very generous CP‘s. Just play it. It‘s Challenging
TrophyHunter says
I would like to know if this works too. Otherwise it’s a no buy from me.
PowerPyx says
I don’t know if it works or not but it’s the easiest Veteran difficulty in any COD to date. You won’t have any trouble with it.
JoiBjeBje says
The trophy / achievement “Hang Time” is earned during “The Wolf’s Den”. Unmissable
PowerPyx says
Not “unmissable”. You can finish the level and not get it. In fact, you have to go out of your way to get it, that’s why they made it a trophy.
And you can earn it in at least 4 missions (2 of which are before Wolf’s Den):
– The Embassy (ladder after you get drone laser)
– Highway of Death (ladder at sniper nest when enemies storm the place)
– The Wolf’s Den (near end of level when climbing the burning place)
– Going Dark (ladder at pool building)
JoiBjeBje says
Oh, had to be it does sound like a trophy which isn’t unmissable. But for players that are doing their first playthrough. In the mission “The Wolf’s Den” there are 3-4 ladders you must climb, and the enemies meet you at the top. So I think that’s the easiest. I got it accidentally and I didn’t know about the others ladders. Sorry for the false information
MrDaniels_S says
I’m concerned about the trophies “Companion Block” and “Tunnel Rat”, don’t know why, but they did not popped up for me, even though I’m sure I did correctly what both asked, spetialy the “Tunnel Rat” one: I used the 1911 only the entire level and it did not pop at the end of the mission, is it glitched or did I do something wrong? Is it not allowed to use flash bangs?
PowerPyx says
I didn’t use flashbangs or grenades, nor did I use melee.
Can you retry without grenades/melee and let me know if that fixed the trophy for you?
MiladFaint says
The Rat didn’t pop up for me either, even though I only used the 1911.
I’m not sure if I used a flashbang or not.
I’ll give it another try and let you know.
MiladFaint says
Alright, I’ve just unlocked the trophy while being careful not to use a flashbang.
And also there are some gas tanks which explode when get shot, so I tried to avoid those as well.
Not sure if the gas tanks would void the trophy tho!
MrDaniels_S says
Just replayed the mission, and I did not use any flash bangs nor grenades, just the pistol, and it popped up! The trophy description is kind vague, you can’t use ANYTHING but the 1911 to complete the mission. Use only the pistol and you are guarantee to get the trophy!
MrDaniels_S says
About the “Companion Block” trophy I’ve mentioned: I replayed the mission as well and got the trophy, this time being extra careful to see where I’d put the block to return to it, first time I’ve played I got the wrong block at some point and it did not popped up. It’s all good now!
Osuumm says
The thing for “Companion block” trophy is you cannot use another block through out the mission. If you accidentally used another block the trophy won’t pop for you.
OTPYG says
Probably the easiest CoD Plat I’ve unlocked. Thanks for the guide, PP!
Doug Mason says
Do you think it is still possible to do all trophies while on veteran difficulty? I dont really wanna play it twice. Willing to take longer on 1 run vs 2 shorter ones.
PowerPyx says
Some trophies would be really annoying.
A recruit playthrough only takes 2-3 hours.
You can also start on Veteran, grab what’s possible, then only replay some levels on recruit to mop up what you missed. It’s harder that way around though (and probably more time consuming too, as you’ll die a lot more trying to get certain trophies).
PhantomFear94 says
Making a new comment because its clearer.
I’m pretty sure that as of 25.10.19 the Spec-Ops missions (emphasis on missions) required aren’t available for the DLC achievement/trophy “Liberation”. No one knows why, no reason for it to not be available yet, but before people try doing all the 4 co-op operations don’t unless you want to for fun (see below)
Specs Ops is reportedly split into Missions and Operations. The Operations are the difficult 4x co-ops levels where you have to complete objectives with endless enemies. Someone I know has done all 4 and not unlocked the achievement. The description also says “missions”, but I could understand people getting mixed up. From doing some research, I’m pretty sure you’ll just need to do the Missions, which are like older MW games where you get a star rating and can do it solo OR co-op. As it’s for “completing” them, this will probably be for the best in the long run.
PowerPyx says
^exactly this.
What we need for the trophy is not yet released.
TheeMrPerfect says
Do we know if it’s just content not released for sure? I run a perfect gamer score account with all 100% and I would hate to start this only to find out its this extra hard shit I’ve already completed and got nothing for haha

The patch that came out today said it fixed the error with unlocking the achievement, meaning the 4 missions we have are for this achievement. Maybe someone else here can confirm since I haven’t beat them yet.
PowerPyx says
Still unobtainable under patch 1.05 🙁
Brandon says
It won’t let me link it from Reddit but the Updates and Patch notes from IW today have “Fix for a Special Ops Achievement that was not unlocking after completing all missions.”
As the second bullet point.
ConkConk95 says
Hey PowerPyx, for the trophy “We Own the Night” you can clear out the areas and not talk to the hostages and still get the trophy. That’s what I did and that let me go around the areas without having to worry about the patrol vehicle. I also think it stops other enemies from spawning in because it seems like every time you talk to a hostage, new enemies will show up around the area. Thought you and fellow trophy hunters should know to make it less annoying.
chalky83 says
Good tip, worked for me. It makes this trophy much quicker and easier.
Aesura says
Couple of things so far
(Thanks PP for being awesome)
Mission 2: Circus, you must kill/at least shoot the two terrorists with the vest bombs. Them exploding will not trigger the trophy
Mission 3: companion block
Don’t get too close to the ladder before pressing square. My first attempt, cinderblock dropped down the hole and had to restart mission
PowerPyx says
Thanks for these clarifications, both added to guide (and added you to credits as well).
MrDaniels_S says
Hey, I just noticed something about the “Press [BOOM] to Defuse” trophy: apparently, you don’t need to reach the hospital at mission 6 for it: in the first trap, right at the beginning of the mission, I accidentally shot the grenade too close and got the “Friendly fire will not be tolerated” warning. Then, after I reloaded the checkpoint and destroyed that same trap *again*, when I got to the second trap and destroyed it, the trophy popped up! So, I think you can destroy the same trap 3 times loading checkpoint and still get the trophy!
PhantomFear94 says
This happened to me also.
James says
Tried Companion Block 3 times now and trophy not popped. Put the block in really obvious places so I know I picked up the right one
WildDog says
I’ve already platinum this game, it was so easy even on veteran. When is the spec ops dlc released?
PowerPyx says
Nobody knows yet when they release the spec ops missions.
Given they included the list from the start it can’t be too far out.
RyanMakhoul says
For trophy Hang Time you can kill 1 enemy on a ladder then restart checkpoint and kill the same enemy again 2 more times. You need a pistol to shoot on ladders.
I did not get the trophy for only using the 1911 because I shot one of the enemies and he dropped a grenade on himself which killed him. Also I think burning the machine gunner in the tunnel with the fuel pool voids the trophy.
Gearsofcake says
Hey quick tip for anyone trying to get platinum. I’ve found that for many of the trophies if you pause the game and wait about 20 seconds it will make the trophies pop once you’ve completed the requirements. The trophy with the sniper for example did not pop the first upon killing the sniper. If you feel you’ve completed the requirements simply try pausing yhe game and waiting.
daveman says
For the kills on the ladder you can reload checkpoint. I made it so and got the trophy.
Sven says
Thanks man. What an awesome Guide!
I loved the correct order of the trophies.
In first playtrough i played blind on veteran and then mission select on recrut with your Guide. 🙂
Kaboom says
I prefer enjoy the game at first with Veteran difficulty , and then play it again and try to get the trophies.
Does it matter if my first playthrough gonna be on Veteran difficulty?
ark kilobyte says
Looks like they fixed Liberation achievement as per below, can anyone confirm ?
Thanks

Good news / Bad news re: ‘Liberation’ (key your eye out over coming day(s)
Patch notes for V1.05 state that they are ‘fixing’ the achievement for the spec ops missions. Unless this clumsy/unclear wording for that they should have added the missions in, it means you should have unlocked it for doing all 4 operations after all.
For me this bad news as I thought we were getting OG spec ops missions, and the operations look super hard (not sure if there is matchmaking either?) It’s not clear.

PhantomFear94 says
Ignore this! Delete it if you want. Patch came out, nothing changed to Spec Ops. They’ve been very unclear on this subject.
HoonterMustHoont says
Just an outside observer of the series. Surprised there is no multiplayer trophies – or has that been a subtle change since the last few CODs?
p789cs says
spec ops = 5 missions
use mew account,get offine,don’t use activision account
you will see 5 missions in coop
&.you can play this map..
dunno when to release
Joe says
When the game auto saves right before the technical spots you while doing We Own the Night and you are stuck in an infinite death loop and have to do the entire level again.
Sandwich says
for Tunnel Rat you can use melee, just in case anyone wonders. Played on Veteran and lost all bullets had to melee a couple
Saltnib says
For the ‘Spit in Barkovs Face’ trophy, need to have default control scheme. Swapping Circle and R3 didn’t work untill i changed it back.
gmalonz says
If you have swapped to have crouch on R3, then the spit button changes to R2. I just done a bit of button mashing while his massive face was staring at me
Daniel says
For the last trophy. Throwing back enemies grenade counts as using other weapons so it will void the trophy
PowerPyx says
Thanks, added that in =)
Rodney Coots says
Companion Block is glitched for me, I’ve done it five times and I know I have done it correctly and it still hasn’t popped for me. I even tried the 20 second pause the game trick someone mentioned and it didn’t work
Steve says
It took me 4 tries, at the end of the level walk up to the ladder with the block and hit square. He’ll automatically drop the block. Trophy will pop soon after
Nurts says
When doing “We own the night” don’t interact with the hostages and the APC won’t patrol. Makes it even easier.
p789cs says
confirmed with coop achievement
i unlocked with 4 coop missions completed in pc version
ps4 i think need a patch
sublimehawk says
Hi PowerPyx. I must politely disagree with the advice to do two playthroughs. I think the majority of trophies are easy even on Veteran. The only challenging trophies to do on Veteran are Long Way Down, Wild Fire, Tunnel Rat, Hang Time and Warheads on Foreheads. I would personally recommend to play on Veteran from the start to save having to spend an extra 4-5 hours playing on Recruit. Many of the trophies are not made more difficult by playing on Veteran so you might as well combine them with your Veteran playthrough. I also suggest skipping cutscenes to finish the game even faster. Watching them all takes another hour at least. I think that time a very precious thing and I would rather spend that extra hour getting another Plat or doing something else.
PowerPyx says
It comes down to personal preference. Doing a recruit run first makes Vet easier as you’ll know level layouts (not that it’s hard to begin with, but still).
As for time, doing most trophies on Veteran (while possible) takes up more tries than on Recruit. Plat time comes down to about the same. You might save an hour playing on Vet from the start but you make it harder for yourself. A playthrough on Recruit is also nowhere near 4-5h. Only 2.5-3h (the average missions lasts 10 minutes).
Bartek says
I just finished the whole campaign on Veteran and my trophy did not pop up. I got trophy for beating the story on any difficulty, but the one for vet/real not. When I come back to campaign menu i see that missions to the Embasy i got on highest difficulty: veteran, but the rest of the missions have no info about highest difficulty at all or there is highest difficulty: and nothing written in there. It is really annoying. Did anyone got sth like that? I tried restarting the game, tried looking into my trophy list and even restarted the last mission. Nothing happened. Any suggestions?
Bartek says
I even finished last mission on veteran again, nothing happened. I see I did not unlock Wayatt in multiplayer (still managed to earn trophy for beating the mission with 1911 xD). In campaign menu i did not see 2 missions – highway of death and hometown. I decided to restart the game from 1st mission without difficulty assigned to it, from embassy. And here it worked – I got difficulty assigned to my missions, I got those 2 missions in campaign menu etc. BUT I had to replay it. And have to replay all other missions which is really annoying. So it’s just a bug and I have to play half of the campaign on veteran again. Sht happens :D Thanks for the great guide PP, you rule as always ;)
Megapighead says
I’m having the same issue….completed the campaign on veteran, didn’t get the trophy. My last two missions in the level select don’t say that I completed on veteran. I did the final mission two more times in hopes that it would say that I completed but still nothing. Really, really frustrating.
Pooria says
I play and end the game on realistic difficulty and get to ?
Jared says
FYI. Don’t need to beat the juggernaut on veteran (glitch?) I started the fight and ran back to the last checkpoint armory by just falling off the rail. Once I got back to fight him I activated fog and just nick up to the door he blasts through at the beginning and moved on to the next area.
PhantomFear94 says
Liberation is reportedly fixed, and it IS for the 4 operations. Stupid, as they got the description wrong in that case. Missions and operations are completely different.
Anthony says
How hard is the spec ops or operations whatever it’s called trophy/trophies to get?
PowerPyx says
Without a proper team / without headset communication (playing with randoms) probably 8.5/10.
With a team + headset where nobody did the missions before 6.5/10.
With a team where at least 1 member did them all before and can guide you 5/10.
With a really good team where 3 players did everything before and you can lean back 2/10 (you can spawn camp while the other 3 do everything).
The thing is you can cheese most parts by having one player stay somewhere enemies can’t go (e.g. kill yourself with grenade, then land with parachute on roof of building after respawn). Then the other 3 players can respawn infinitely. But there are sections (e.g. timer in a plane) where you need 4 players and play actively to make it easier, so that infinite respawn trick doesn’t work for every scenario.
P0tZ says
Helped me out bigtime. Especially with ‘Golden Path’
Thanks for taking the time to put this together
TakTicCal_Chief says
Comment to the trophy “We own the night”: You can get the trophy even if Price says that the enemies have noticed something. Its part of the mission, that he tells you that. Also don’t worry if he says that there are enemies on their way from the main building. Also an information by the mission it self.
I restarted the mission several times because I thought it was my fault and they saw me someway…
zerfall says
i can confirm. price said “They know something is wrong” i just finished clearing and it popped for me! :D
ASH says
Hey Will there be any more special Ops trophies for modern warfare ever ?
DeadChaos says
Enjoyed the campaign and easy plat. I like not having to chase after useless collectibles!
peace4mr says
Thank you for the excellent guide.
This platinum is truly easy & fast.
Just “golden path” needs a bit of practice & “we own the night” is pretty boring.
Frog_Whisperer says
Went through “Clean House” 14 times seemingly flawlessly and no “GoldenPath” trophy. Is it glitched? Also in the room where Alpha 3-2 goes down sometimes I throw flashback after shooting first target he glitches into back wall and comes back to life. Not sure what is going on.
Frog_Whisperer says
Nevermind. I got the trophy it just never popped for me. Thanks for tips and great roadmap for platinum.
Gazzaafee says
Hey “Got something on your face” trophy popped by pressing R2 for me. Playing on tactical controller config.
Jah says
Very helpful and detailed! Thank you so much.. wish I knew how to support this page more.
Md. Sahidur Rahman says
I just completed every single player mission at veteran difficulty but didn’t get the out of fire trophy…
What should I do…?
Please help
Abdul Moeed Bajwa says
Hey. If I complete all the missions on veteran but randomly will I still be able to get ‘out of the fire’ trophy?
I just completed the whole story on veteran, took me couple of days.
Some missions tho seems like didn’t saved my progress on veteran. It still says highest difficulty achieved is on recruit.
BodyChipper says
It’s worth mentioning it will take you 1-2 days just to be able to start playing the game due to all of the massive updates and add-ons it forces you to do just to play the single player campaign. Even 9 months after launch it’s no better. It will probably take less time to plat than it will to install everything.
BodyChipper says
Got this plat in 3 days thanks to the guide. Can definitely agree on the difficulty. This was much easier by comparison to MW1R or MW2R on veteran and I was even able to get the majority of the misc trophies on that single veteran playthrough.
Swampdonky11 says
Check marks on all boxes, still no trophy for coop missions? I’ve completed everything that I see any help?? Is it glitched?? Would like to complete the game
ElColombian says
I’ve completed every mission for spec ops except:
Strongbox – Modified Veteran
Strongbox – Modified
And I still don’t have the trophy! This is driving me nuts as it’s the only trophy I need for this game! Anyone know what I can do? I’ve played missions over and over, deleted my profile and game saved data and NOTHING. I’m on PS4 if anyone has any suggestions…. thanks!
Cdoggy says
Hey me and a friend want to get the spec ops trophy we have headsets, add my psn if you need to get it: cdoggypete123
